  1. Ah, the Ford Kak, beautiful...., scrape a bumper and half the car needs replacing, stick it in reverse and it looks like it's going forward! 'Radical' 'street' designs that look dated in a few years, unlike a certain VW we know about!
  2. Be careful though, when my rear quarter was done by 'Insurance Aprroved' monkeys they had clearly just (badly)masked up to the glass seal. After my bitching they ended up taking the quarter glass out and replacing the seal and doing it all over again.
  3. Outskirts of Norwich near Airport, bout 6PM tonight, nice dark G60, I , ahem / cough , came up behind you! :| Gave me a noncholant thumbs up
  4. Yep, that was my thinking behind the Post, that LRP might be closer to the intended fuel of a 16v than Unleaded. You just try it and see i suppose.... BP Ultimate damn fine I find, but then LRP seems to be going well too, especially lower down the rev range.
  5. Thanks for all the info people, back to BP Ultimate it is methinks! 'She' does seem to like the LRP though, but, also flies along on the Ultimate! '.......neeeeouuuuw........-o```o> '! :D
  6. Apologies if this has been done to death already, but I did a Forum search and didn't really answer my question, so here goes........ Normally in my 18.16v I use Optimax or ideally BP Ultimate, with second choice if nothing else around 'bog-standard' Unleaded. At Tesco's other day noticed they still had Lead Replacement Petrol, so put some in to see how it went, and so far so pretty damn good! Longer term what would be best to put in, 'premium' quality Unleaded such as Ultimate, or would even a 'bog-standfard' LRP fuel be better for a KR engine than even the best UL????.....Thanks in advance. (Anticipating a rapid answer and a quick 'sticky' on this.... )
  7. Shock news just in....someone posts a 'Was It You' on the Forum AND gets a reply! By the way, driving to/from work down Cromer Road in Norwich quite often, nice dark C passes going other way presuambly going to work in City, exchange nods etc, anyone here?
  8. I'm a big fan of Continental Sportcontact's, but have never tried the Toyo's or Eagle's... I would say dont bother with Avon ZV1's though, in my opinion dreadful, cant wait for my front Avons to wear out so i can get some Conti's on there.
  9. I'm 36 year old office based aircraft engineer and still driving a 16v (love it to bits though, not so much when it's in bits!), after a VR ultimately ( currently insurance is around the £450 mark fully comp / protected etc......feeling old
  10. ' It seems that sometimes personalised plates get allocated to a car, but are never fitted - but custom plates don't seem to get updated on the RAC system.. ' Hmm, my new plate comes up correctly on the site and my 'old' defunct plate doesn't, so they must update it pretty often, as new plate's only been on less than a year.....
  11. Or, you can put some holes in the slam panel that match the clip location on the later grille, which is what i did. In retrospect, should have snapped off the grille lugs and used cable ties. Thats where the problem lies though, the clip location on the later grilles doesn't match the holes in the early slam panel. It can be done though, as described here and above......why go badgeless though, never been a fan of that myself.
  12. 'you should have knocked his teeth out...... then hit him a few more times "just to check" it was your knuckles that did the damage ' :D :D :D
  13. G.friends always get p#ssed off with me for..... a) driving all around car parks before selecting the 'best' space, b) ideally parking in a space with at least one side against a wall, c) parking in a quiet area, i.e. furthest away from the entrance. d) never parking anywhere near where the trolleys get returned to!
  14. Oh, I thought once an old plate was taken off that was it, never to be seen again unless you pay to 'retain' it..... Funny business this, because after all, technically any plate always remains the property of the DVLA / Government. Got to be worth paying a bit extra NOT to get a plate from a rusty 1973 Belfast Milkfloat though...GAZ ####, WAZ####, JIZ #### in a Max Power stylee.
  15. The great British public, don't you just love 'em! Surely youl'l still be insured for this, private property shouldn't be a factor ......
  16. Diesel spill maybe?.... (a big killer of those on two wheels). Bet that looked impressive though, could have been worse, I remember there was a petrol station a few years ago near Essex / Cambs I think that went up in a mushroom cloud when someone crashed in to a pump.....
  17. True, but mine was cheap, and was getting hacked off with people judging the car just by it's H plate! The old plate is defunct and is never issued again. You can keep it but have to pay a retention fee, which needs to be renewed periodically, and is at DVLA discretion.
  18. Well, if you go through someone like Regtransfers it's quite easy (they explain in more detail on their web-site) Basically as I recall, you send off a photocopy of your tax disc, the bottom slip from your V5, and your MOT certificate, plus the plate cost and the transfer fee. If it's very near tax renewal time include a cheque for that as well. They then go through the transfer process with the DVLA. When the transfer is complete they send you a document from the DVLA authorising the make up of your new plates (you can't do a thing til these come back) , your MOT certificate back but with the new reg written on and a DVLA stamp, and a new tax disc with the new reg on it. Then you can get the new plates made up and fitted. The V5 follows on in due course a few weeks later, which is why the document authorising your new plates is vital, because without that or a V5 you wont get new plates made up! That's it, not as bad as it sounds because the reg. transfer people do it all for you, you just follow their instructions and send them the documents they need. Only problem is after a few weeeks you get seriously impatient about wanting to ditch the 'old' plate and fit your nice new plates!
  19. Yep, trees are the last thing you want to hit, they don't tend to move a lot at the base! Apparently a big reason for high car crash death rates in France, all those nice straight tree lined Napoleonic roads!...'not a lot o' people know that'..... :D
  20. Reg Transfers were very good, I'd recommend them, did my plate KVW 200N for £99 plus fee. Very hassle free process.
  21. Looks like a fine machine there mate, reminds me of why I'd like a red/cream Karmann Ghia for the cool / chilled out image as well as the C, just watch you don't get hooked and don't want to get back in the Corrado, as if! P.S. BANANA MAN, just who is that in your Avatar,....luvverly!
  22. Come on people, that last piccy is just ripe for a caption competition....! As for that 'bad boy' plate, come on, be honest, who isn't gonna look at that and think of an entirely different word to describe the driver! :D
  23. ...and you can always find somebody fairly locally for a cup of tea and a shoulder to cry on when bits break off  Seriously though, it's worth it for £15, you should recoup that easily on parts spending / insurance alone.
  24. Doesn't matter, missing the point guys. Whenever someone ask's him what car he's got, unless he wants to sound like a complete pr#ck who feels the need to be anally specific about his exact model, he's gonna say 'a Golf'. When someone asks you and you say a Corrado, job done, 'nuff respect' and all that! This comes up all the time ('my Jap car / ugly Pug / whatever is faster than yours'....so bloody what, mines a Corrado, and yours, well, ....yours just isn't! :D
  25. Youl'l be keeping her now then I take it! Don't you just love a happy ending
