Have you had the car scanned?
-
I preferred it when it had a bag of flour all over it
-
Its a difficult one to answer due to the possible pitfalls, you need something to protect the engine but also to allow the rings to bed in
-
Would it help if you were to use weights in the 4 footwells?
-
If its had new rings and the bores were honed you need cheap oil for the first few hundred miles to allow the rings to wear into the bores to create a good seal. Fully synthetic wont allow the rings to bed into there bores

Another one, ends today. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252279908118?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Mr Bacon and Mr Lobitos to name but two have owned MK4s, CazzaVR has a similar aged S3 (I've always wanted one). I'm not sure I'd part with my VR6 for a MK4 based car, I've owned 3 MK4s, 2 Octavias, a Toledo and she has an A3 all based on the same platform.

Front and rear VW badges and indicator stalk posted please :) -
Is the car in daily use or just idling on the drive? In previous years when I've laid my VR6 up over winter its idled and smoked badly on start up, with regular use it does neither, uses 1L of oil every 1K miles.
-
Everything is working in mine for the first time in over 5 years, I've not seen the ABS light whilst in motion for 3 weeks! I just thought I'd post that to give you some encouragement. If she wasn't nagging about the car it would be something else instead!

Any of you lovely lot got front G60 callipers and carriers for sale?
Dox replied to Backitin660's topic in Newbies Hangout
Early MK3 with the square side repeaters on the wings all had 280s, 8V, 16V and VR6. I've got a pair on a car, but they're pretty grotty - 20 years old -
Passed its MOT 20 Jan, pics taken 30 Mar. Ebay purchase, drove the van 200 miles to home, the brake pedal pulsed violently inch or so every time I pressed it, the guy used to drive his kids around in it too.
-
Full history, serviced every year lol Brake fluid
-
Well done for the perseverance on keeping the car going as a daily.

The easiest way to trace an ebay purchase is via feedback?
-
Or a large socket?

I've recently done the Lupo aero wiper swap and can confirm its a great upgrade 2 Lupo drivers side arms (6x2 955 410c) and 2 Driver's side blades (1J2 955 425B - supplied by Davethurs). Mated with a Rayne headlamp loom upgrade and Phillips 130% H4s and H3s and winter driving is greatly improved
-
As you're looking for a price I'll say £1000 as is, around £2000 with an MOT. It's going to need 4 tyres and attention to brakes etc after sitting around for all that time, the fuel will be stale and that's just the start of all the expenditure too.

Do you have a part number? Have you tried Audi dealers? I think Audi coupe / cabs had similar covers so maybe classic audi specialists (Quattro / coupe etc) may be able to get them? Heating black plastics with a hot air / paint stripper gun restores there colour, warm, not melt

https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/volkswagen You may be able to get relays from Kufatec even though they no longer list Corrado?
-
Is the engine earth secure and clean?
-
Wind the rear pistons out until there's 1mm of clearance and try the pedal again, it sounds like the rears aren't self adjusting?
