  1. Wear gloves when handling burnt wiring insulation, nasty stuff, it can lead to amputation if it gets under the skin.
  2. I've had both plugs off, they appear clean, as do the front abs sensors on the strut tops, this is an ex IOM car so its not seen road salt until it arrived here 2 years ago. I've just read an old post by supercharged mentioning screen leaks and blown matrix soaking ECUs / relays / wiring etc Thanks all
  3. If they are it will have to wait until I can move the car for better access!
  4. Can anyone point out which is the ABS relay please, fuse 4 appears OK I've spent ages searching ABS issue on here, I've tried a replacement ABS ecu, many posts point to this type of fault being electric rather than the actual pump itself. All help gratefully received
  5. I've just had it again, using I E ?? Theres a Top cash back advert just above current topics on the right hand side, it was blank yesterday, back again today and my first visit was redirected
  6. How much did you sell it for compared to its value now? VAG diesels are highly sought after, it might be worth looking at prices of similar cars currently for sale. I'm glad you now appear to have the upper hand, be ready for another payment offer and reject it straight away, I'd take the car back if it was offered to me in these circumstances......................
  7. If you take one of these apart there construction is cheap and nasty (light weight gives the game away), its better to renew the car battery early and have your car reliable and flog your old battery for scrap (£400 per tonne for lead - I got £40 for 6 batteries recently) or ebay it
  8. There is no theft in the eyes of the law, the keys, car and V5 were given freely, its a civil debt as the car has not been paid for in full - whether this can be proved is uncertain. Scummer is taking the ****, what is needed is to give him a wake up call to get this debt to the top of the pile and be a priority. Any decent HR depts door should always be open for problems in the workplace........ Fight dirty with both hands firmly in your pockets as slapping the scummer in the face will most likely end up with OP being in more trouble than the scummer.
  9. I spent 8 years of my life debt collecting, give them an inch and they'll take a mile, if he takes the scummer to court he still may never get his money back. Get the car back and sell it again would be the simplest solution to this problem. ---------- Post added at 10:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:01 AM ---------- If you both work for the same company then I'd also make your HR department aware there is a problem between staff members and the reason why, not only would this lead to the scummer to know you're serious about recovering your money it puts him on the back foot not knowing what you're going to do next. You may well think its nothing to do with work, but if you didn't work together you'd never have taken him at his word and if he pushes you to your limits and you snap and grab the scummer by his throat it will be on record you have reported an issue previously. A quiet word from HR might get the ball rolling. These people are in every street and every workplace in the country, robbing Peter to pay Paul is a way of life - nothing to do with the recession or the current climate, its how they roll........................... Others who work with the both of you may well have been ripped off too?
  10. His name may be on the V5 but as he's not made any payment the car is still yours. I'd go and get the car from him, don't be fobbed off with promisses of payment, just take the keys and drive the car to a safe hiding place
  11. I'm looking for one with the same part number with an E on the end?
  12. Buyers fees earlier this year at BCA

    I Hate Car Insurance

I only said to put her as named driver, no mention of letting her drive the car........

    I Hate Car Insurance

If there's a female driver in the house with a good driving record make sure they're named on your policy as it actually reduces the premium...........
  15. Fair enough, I've found problems with brakes on the last 4 cars I've bought (people I know in the trade find horrendous bodges all the time), pads seized in carriers, friction material falling off the metal backing, anti squeel shims missing, some pro serviced, some owner fitted, some unknown. I check any new car to me over asap, brakes, suspension and steering, it gives peace of mind and an opertunity to source parts before they're needed. Not seen the thread
  16. So you've not bothered to give a car new to you (a modified one at that) nearly 20 years old a look over in 7 weeks?
  17. Whats wrong with your lights? There was a thread here about changing the bulb inside the light unit, it worked for me. You can buy the bulbs from RS spares, but have to buy a minimum of 10
  18. 6 speed gearbox too................
  19. And up for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-2-9-VR6-3D-188-BHP-/251166376966?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3a7aaec406
