I wonder if you could do it like windscreen rubbers with string?
-
Didn't Bristolbaron have this? EDIT, I was wrong, he has / had Dougs 24v storm
-
£3962

If you plug in dim dip resistor you’ll only get side lights with ignition off, once you turn the key dipped beam will illuminate, so a possible mot failure
-
Oh she does, Started with 7 cars, the golf I broke leaves 6, golf mk7 estate will go before insurance renewal in april, leaves 5, Storm once stripped and gone leaves 4 - one in each of the garages, one on the drive and one parked on street and she has here patio back. All I've got to do is keep away from ebay, Marketplace and any other auction in the country (covid has been a real help with this).

I'm pretty much hibernating until March (cold weather doesn't suit me), so no rush. I've recently broken another MK4 so the Storm is virtually held captive by Golf bits anyway
-
Great info, thanks

Have you tried the one you had off me?

This is mk4 stuff Ex 10v V5 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From memory the polo one is more compact front to back and is taller like the Corrado one
-
The 3 polo bits are around £150 from vw, the part numbers I had saved in various forum threads all of which are now dead
-
I don't think either of those are a direct fit to the Corrado tunnel? They look like standard mk4 You're looking for 02J gearbox to early style tunnel, ibiza cupra, TDi polo, ibiza etc

Looks like tickets didn’t sell well hence the poll? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The problem is we’re all hoarders so the parts are around but not available to people who need them, I’m as much to blame as the next man

Catalogue (brake-eng.com) Brake engineering list all hydraulics, stock might be a different matter?
-
Helix oils are supposed to be stronger than existing once repaired but the pins need to be perfectly parallel otherwise they’ll bind. plenty if used ones, lots of people have upgraded to 312s from 288s
-
Certain Volvos have a similar set up with the pedal pos sensor, I’ve often wondered if we could use there servo set up?
-
I just nip them up tbh, I’ve never lubed them.

I've owned 10+ cars with 288s or 312s and non had this issue, I owned a 280mm from new and it stripped the passenger side, I broke a 256mm car and sold the knuckles to a garage owner who needed them for a customers car stuck on his ramp because the threads stripped
-
I've not heard of 288mm carriers stripping, on MK4s 256mm and 280mm which are cast to the knuckle its very common
-
As the outer pad wears down the clearance will get greater. Is it the slide pin that's stripped or the carrier?
-
To put it into context, I could insure my MK7 Golf estate, 2004 BAM TT and my Corrado VR6 with Brentacre for around the same price (all 3), ie I'm not a high risk and don't live I a high risk area.

Just to highlight the stupidity of insurance, 12 months ago I had a quote from Lancaster for a Volvo 940 estate (one owner who was going into a dementia home with his wife) valued at £1K with an annual mileage of 4K, their quote - £1200 on a classic policy
