Ok figured I have had enough falling out with the good old C last few months and i should make up, give her some lovin and update her profile a bit. Well I did indeed get the VSR and Cams fitted Matt and she is running a lot more healthily. 209bhp and 199lbft Doesnt sound like a great deal, but it makes the car feel like I always thought it should feel like. If that makes sense! Lot more urgency from 2k revs, mid range packed out a little and then a VTEC type kick at the top when the manifold flap opens and the cams come on song. passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSC00269.JPG[/attachment:1ug95gzy] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSC00270.JPG[/attachment:1ug95gzy] So all good and the car is tucked up in the garage at the moment whilst I commute to work in a Mk4 1.8T Gti, which altho isnt as fun as the Corrado is so much more refined, comfy and modern feeling. In fact I REALLY quite like it, if I hadnt driven a Corrado before I would be happy as a pig in mud and without any of the heartache a Corrado can bring  Things still to do for spring: 1) Sort out a couple of tiny rust blemishes on the tailgate, fuel filler. 2) Fit a new boot seal 3) Paint and fit my recently purchase Mk4 288mm front and rear brakes. 4) Fit my also recently aquired uprated headlight wiring loom (cheers Zak!) 5) Decide what KW model suspension to go for and get it fitted quick smart so I can actually enjoy my car again!! 6) Ooo did buy a BB throttle body from Leon as well, so may fit that. Not sure how much I will gain without a remap tho... So not sure about the worth of it or not at the moment. On a different note had a great insurance quote from Chris Knott (with Highway). Agreed valuation of £6500 all bells and whistles and all for just over £300. Good value I thought, but I am getting on a bit now, 36 this year! Had to take a few pics for the valuation so here are a 'few' 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSC00928.JPG[/attachment:1ug95gzy] DSC00929.JPG[/attachment:1ug95gzy] -
 We are obviously very similar in that respect! I once went out to buy a walkman and talked myself into an £800 hifi LOL You may as well just go for the M5  I keep entertaining the idea of just being really stupid and risking staving off bankruptcy for a year  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GORGEOUS-MERCEDES ... 1c0f8ffee6 Maybe not quite yet tho..... lol How about this beemer? Too old? http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/ww ... egLetter=X

Hey Karl Really wish I had gone to see that 3 series estate, perfect size for me, at the moment..... Everything I want really, oh well snooze you lose :( That 5 series looks really nice mate. You have me really wanting a big car that I can 'waft' around in for a while. Was going to look at this one that is in our neck of the woods http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-Audi-A8-4-2- ... 5d278bde55 Could be too big really though! Good luck tomorrow, hope the 5 is a minter, let us know how you go 8) Matt

See the red beemer on ebay mate. Did you get the Estate I saw that and was SORELY TEMPTED. Notice it has been sold as well....... :norty:
-
It really is a thing of beauty! :luvlove:
-
Yup lots of new young blood  Hey if you can buy a Rado for 800 squid then you can afford to insure it as well!
-
LOL yup ur a brave man running those throught the winter. enjoy them whilst its still dryish tho :D
-
Out of interest how much is a head rebuild on a VR nowaday?
-
Cool and bugger in equal measure LOL Was hoping I would never be brought into contact with that much temptation

Have a look at the tip I wrote up here :- http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 23&t=86433 Cheers John will see if I can cobble something together. Good tip! Wish I had just left the calipers now as they were working fine if a little rusty, oh well LOL

Thanks really hot water did the trick. I dont have an air compressor to get the pistons out however. Any other way to do this? Bit worried since I have been washing them that water may have got passed the inner piston seal.
-
Cheers mate. Should you just be able to get the rubbers out with your fingers? Dont really want to risk damage with plyers :?
-
Just cleaning some of these up to paint and wondered what the best way is of removing all the rubber parts without damaging them? Any helpful pointers would be great! Ta Matt
-
Ouch! Be good to have extra hide though for seat bolsters and things if necessary. Like everyone else has said, nice that someone like yourself has taken on the project and will no doubt bring the car back to its former glory Matt

Not even funny. (G60death.) - Insurance quote in.

Aye £365! For the replacement value of the car???? -
Lookin at my RR graph it appears to be that way, yes Matt
-
Hey Pete Cannot knock the new car! Love them and fancy something like that myself but the girlfriend isnt so keen LOL Shame you didnt get to experience a high power Evo, I know you would have LOVED 400bhp plus in yours, yet alone nearer 550bhp! :norty:  Any links to the car for sale with your old motor in it? Look forward to seeing your new motor and your good self at the RR day :salute: Matt
-
Bet that would be safe in a side impact crash... NOT! Cool concept though
-
Brakes are rubbish anyway. You can upgrade with Mk4 Gti items. Could be yours need a good bleed though if they have nothing at al. Matt

Used the liquid. Dont know why (maybe bit cold out, but not silly cold) but was really difficult to get off. So much so I used an orbital in the end and it was still difficult! :? Matt
