Leonard's Corrado VR6 - 515bhp 5.9L's twin scroll turbo ;)

Managed to keep off the modding on the golf, although I have bought some winter tyres and some MTM bimoto wheels that were too cheap to say no to! Probably stick wheels on in March when car gets serviced and possibly Revo'd...... Now I have a decent daily I have been having dirty dirty thoughts about swapping the Corrado for something a little more 'weekend' :S -

Think i saw you Sam and cdem in 3 car convoy on your way back. I did a slow drive by in my red ED30 golf and gave you a nod. Cars were looking good! But why so slow ;) :D Matt -
Kev why arent you fitting the new Audi 5 cyclinder out of the TT RS! Apart from the ridiculous cost obviously... LOL R32 block will be amazing and easily tuned to stupid amounts of bhp, when are you going 4wd ;) Look fwd to reading about progress

Hi mate Glad you had a good trip and car performed well. Looks good on track! Im amazed the ring is allowed to stay open. Was most exciting and terrifying place I have ever been. Two fatalities and a number of really bad accidents weekend I was there. Good to have you back in one piece Matt

How about going Jap, you wont see another dub with some Enkeis or Volks on. Often thought about it. My sis imported some of these for her Evo. Would be pretty sic in hyper black or silver :D on yours. Bit of a homage to your C as well, well similar.... LOL http://www.enkei.com/nt03m.html

Hey looking nice mate. Nothing wrong with red ;) Well if Im being honest I was same as you and didnt like red until living with it for a week. Wouldnt have anything else now. Tricky one wheels for Rocco, honestly cant think of anything off top of my head hmmmmm..... ---------- Post added at 09:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:32 PM ---------- In fact how about McLaren SLR wheels. Kind of OEM+ look Dont know if they do suitably sized reps though... Otherwise Im quite keen on OZ Ultraleggera at mo in black also..

LOL Im trying so hard to be good with this car and NOT mod it. A few grand though and it would be a complete weapon! :D Think I will just go brakes only and then maybe REVO Stage 1.... ;) Like the idea of a decent 4 pot kit, will keep my eyes peeled. Not in any particular hurry. Your car still all good? Matt PS just seen these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ap-racing-calipers-/220808463495?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item336935c487 -

Those Forge brakes look like 'good value'. The brakes just dont inspire much confidence Kev, not much pedal feel and they seem to go off quite quickly after a bit of spirited B road driving 80-100mph braking hard to 30-40mph repeat etc :D Was thinking about the R32/S3 upgrade, exactly how heavy are they? LOL -
Top job! Awesome read. Must meet up soon mate so you can show off your handy work. Don't suppose you are around your works this weekend? Matt

Cheers guy's appreciate the comments Reason I went for the ED30 is that it offers so much looks and performance wise as stock, without having to mod anything! Dont even have to change the exhaust for 300bhp :D Then again brakes feel a little weak ;) lol Matt -
Top list of wheels! :D I agree with everything you said there LOL. I am a bit tempted to go back to the ABT wheels that the car was graced with from almost new. Hard with the engine mods isnt it. I think 263's and a VSR are about as non OE as Im happy with. Oh and i do have a chrome Corrado badge but was saving it for mine ;) Best thing about these cars is once you have them looking as good as yours just sit back relax and enjoy them. All that money spent on modding can then be used to keep it in tip top condition, which add so much more to the car and driving experience than buying another piece of bling. Anyway top work, keep it forever and dont even consider selling it! Even if the government ban petrol cars in 30 years time, I'd rather keep mine as a piece of art work representing all of the best things about the end of the 20th century than get rid ;) Matt

Ha ha nice to see you still here Kev £499 gets me 300bhp and 310 torque so bit better bang for buck than the VR6 LOL Wont bother going any further though. Matt -
Love it. Must be nice only having to worry about what set of gorgeous wheels to put on the car next :D Can you do anymore to this? Any plans? And dont mod it more for modding sake, it is perfect. Just wondering is all.... :)

Yeah I know, just lost the love a bit at the mo. Will wait until next spring I think and then give the chassis a proper refurb, powdercoating, decent suspension etc Its hard at moment as my new house doesnt have a garage so the Corrado is stored 10 miles away. Just not worth the expense of tax and insurance. I do feel bad tho! LOL Matt -

Havent been on here for a while which I feel a bit bad about :( Must admit the new look site scared me a little LOL Anyway still have the Corrado but it is still sat in the garage under a dust sheet, feel bad about that too :( Main reason is my girlfriend moved to Essex (Im in Derbyshire) so I bought another car to put the miles on and travel down in a little more refinement. First I bought this for a little rwd fun: Great car, but not practical so had to go. Bought it in the winter though and sold it 5 months later for 100 pound profit! Then for past month I have been searching high and low for a Mk5 Gti, whilst cycling 200miles a week to work and back. Well I dont have to cycle no more! Its a 2007 3 door Tornado Red 28k miles FVWSH, Belt, Major Service, Tax, MOT all done March this year. Spotless exterior and wheels (bar couple stone chips on bonnet, was garaged second car) Xenon headlamps Winter and Lux pack Armrest and ipod connecter 6cd 10 speaker RCD500 Boot liner and winter mats and brand new ED30 mats Highline comp All past paperwork blah blah Red was not initially a colour I had wanted, but now I wouldnt have anything else. Couldnt ask for more! Just goes to show it pays to wait... as hard as that is LOL Had it just over a week now and am blown away by the performance. Handling is great, nicely balanced and power and delivery seems just right. i was going to go straight to a Revo Stage 1 but to be honest I dont think it needs it. Especially on the B-Roads of the Peak District. Runs out of puff a little after a 100mph, but..... Interior is a really nice place to be as well and I have fitted an RNS510C which is a great piece of kit. Easy to fit and really amps up the sound. Also stuck an ED30 badge on the front and treated the car to a clay, polish and wax with Dodo Orange Crush. Apart from that just been enjoying it! Do still miss the Corrado though :( Matt Few pics (not great but I did my best tonight with my phone and some crappy light lol) -
Blimey didnt know you had got this stuck in already! Nice one Tom, look fwd to seeing the finished article.

Has anyone got Stu's telephone number they can PM me? Many Thanks Matt

It is worth wasting money on 280mil standard brakes?
Leonard replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in Drivetrain
I wouldnt bother with grooved discs. Standard discs and harsher pads are an improvement with braided lines. Matt -
 That looks like a car cartoon now! (in a good way)

I actively hunted for a car with grey leather. Doesnt get as grubby as the beige and not as gloomy as the black. Pics here if anyone is interested (not best but you get idea) viewtopic.php?f=11&t=71317&hilit=leonard%27s&start=120 Matt
