24V Renshaw

Something I have been thinking about once my extension is finished. I have had some hidden wiring put in to connect surround speakers in my new living area, but am tempted to extend to other areas of the house with wireless. My concern is phasing with some of it though, can you mix wired/wireless? Jay

VR rear beam is specific within corrados. It is also the same as some late Mk3 golfs but I would just find one off a VR. They have much bigger mounts and are 5mm wider each side. Jay

House extension is progressing really well. Put a deposit down on an Audi A3 TDi today, as the Rado is sold pending collection. Hope I am doing the right thing.... Jay

I have enjoyed bringing the car up to a tidy spec and going to a couple of shows with it, but as James quite rightly pointed out, I am at the crossroads of OE/Modified and realised fabrication and customising is what I love. So its silly to do this to such a genuine original car which is a great base for someone who wants to go that route. So I am going to complete extreme and will build a car from nothing, which will be the Ultima GTR. I still love driving it every day and its a real flier, but the missus doesn't want to drive it daily (she is scared of damaging it) and she doesn't want to drive our X5 so I will get that back and she will have whatever replaces the Corrado. If anyone is interested before I formally advertise it let me know. Jay

After a big shift in priority, it looks like the Corrado might have to go. With all of my time going into the house extension and with the longer term plan of building an Ultima GTR in the new garage, the Corrado is not a sensible choice. I need a car I can use when I start the DIY and in the new year my wife can use when she goes back to work after maternity leave. So, I think I will be selling/swapping for an Audi A3 TDi or similiar. Jay

I have a question about a mid works valuation on our extension. To release funds to complete our extension we need to have a mid works valuation performed. We have a couple of options of when this is done and I am interested to know if/how this would affect the valuation. The original valuation on the house was done before anything was done and the house was untouched. Since then planning permission has been granted, the whole extension has been built, the garden has been ripped out and the place is obviously a building site. As yet the original house has not been broken through into so is still liveable and functional, but soon they will be breaking through. My question is valuation wise will it make any difference if the house is functional and the extension is in place, or the knock through is done and the house is laid out right but not functional... Basically when is the best time to get a valuation. Jay

Have you replaced the gearbox mount too? If its too much for you just swap the lower rear mount out for a factory one. Jay

I think I have decided. I am going to spend the next year or two getting the house finished and the garage prepared and then start an Ultima Build. It just makes sense to me. Jay

The only problem I see with the Ultima, is I would spend £2500 on a chassis and then have to wait to buy the next stage, so wouldn't actually be doing anything. At least with the Corrado project I can sell seats, wheels, engine etc... buy the Audi V8 and have a projec to get stuck into... Jay

Yeah I think the Ultima might be the way forward.... Jay
