  1. Alex, it's worth unplugging the immobiliser module (small black plug), spraying with contact cleaner, unplugging/plugging several times. Mine was doing the same as yours and it was the immobiliser plug. Fine now.
  2. Should be 6, mate :? Clicky.
  3. Good film, Moon 8) Fantastic performance by Sam Rockwell. Nice soundtrack too.
  4. Nice to see you've got a Gallery thread up and running, Ian. Saw the car last week, and it's a stunner! It's unbelievable for the mileage- the paint has a superb depth to it 8)
  5. Maybe worth getting one of them- less than a tenner...
  6. There were two material battery jackets available- one being slightly larger. The dealer told me last week the larger one was obsolete now. Maybe the one you got was the smaller version that I got last week- the parts guy said there weren't many left. Stuff's disappearing by the day :(
  7. Just finished changing the lights to all reds. Took a while, but I'm pleased with the results. Used some pinstripe masking tape for the indicator and reverse bits, and laquered and polished. Will get pics up shortly. Also tidied up the engine bay, although it's still far from perfect :( Removed the battery, and cleaned out all the crap from underneath. Also gave all connections a damn good clean as most had gone green/rusty. Treated it to a new VW battery cover (larger covers now obsolete, so opted for the smaller one- perfect fit). Fitted new screw on strut top covers (only a few p, but make a nice difference). Changed the headlamp screws, which had seen better days. Only one snapped off! Touched up a few small spots of rust around the slam panel with some Rust-oleum. Cleaned loads of dirt from behind the filler cap. Whacked a load of Waxoyl in there. Never ceases to amaze me how much stuff comes out. Unfortunately the earth strap had snapped off.
  8. Sailed through with no advisories 8) Thanks again for the heads-up, Steve- bargain!
  9. We all thought she was taking the piss to start with, but she wasn't!
  10. This is really sad :( Anyway, as others have said, just list the obvious stuff, or stuff you are taking off first + pics. When Vornwend and I broke the 8v we kept track of everything using a Google Docs excel spreadsheet. Believe you me, this saved a huge amount of hassle! You can keep track of everything, including who has paid, how they paid, if it's been sent, who has dibs, total received, postage costs, dividend etc etc.
  11. Hated the Boat That Rocked! Great cast and the trailers looked good, but all the best bits were in the trailers imho. Just seemed like a good idea, but thrown together, with no depth to the story and a lacklustre script :( . Will see Toy Story 3D soon- heard nothing but good reports about it :)
  12. Yup, me too- saw it last night. Fantastic stuff- 9/10. My sister-in-law came out and said 'Phew, glad that's finished. What a load of rubbish! I prefer films about real people like My Best Friend's Wedding and The Holiday,' :cuckoo:  :epicfail:
  13. That's good to know that your dealer did that. As you say, they usually try to sell you the whole intake piping which comes in at around £100! From Ford it's £34 for the PCV.
  14. Can't remember off-hand. Bought in Halfords a couple of years ago. It's silver- looks similar in shape to the one in your link.
  15. Mine fits perfectly in the driver's undertray 8) Perfect position IMHO :)
  16. Here's a link to the photo upload how-to. As the others have said, nugget is a rare and sought after colour- you'd be bonkers to paint it a different colour! Just drop a G60 engine into it (or a 1.8T if you want something a bit more modern). If you really can't get on with the colour, sell it and buy a G60 or VR6 in deep burgundy pearl or something- would work out much cheaper ;)
  17. The Men Who Stare at Goats- 6/10. Quite original and a good cast, but didn't quite hit the mark.

    engine mounts

Peferred your old signature, mate
  19. Touch up paint, some wet sanding, laquer etc should sort it. Bird poo is awful stuff :gag: We're gonna be getting rid of the candy white breaker very soon- just wondering if you want any body bits for your VR? We've still got the bonnet, driver's door and tailgate in good nick + the bare shell. Just let me know :)
  20. No worries, Tom :) Yeh, it was the AmD 'banner' car for a while on their website. Had a shrek, cams etc. AmD reverted it back to standard for him before he sold it. It states on the paperwork that they switched back to a standard map... only they didn't   Thankfully, Dave sorted all that for me, and it's now running a DG map  It's running really well now, although has been a tiny bit lumpy after disconnecting the battery. Did the reset procedure, but haven't driven it since. Jon told me you had a look at the chains for him and all was OK?
  21. Cleaned all the battery/earth cable connections- they were in a right state. Gave the engine bay a clean- doesn't look that much better to be honest! :( There was a right load of crap under the battery. Fitted new battery jacket. Replaced all the headlight screws (only one broke  ). Fitted some new strut top covers. Fitted new smoked crystal side repeaters.

    Chains cost?

...and you can trust DG to do a top notch job ;)
  23. CazzaVR

    Chains cost?

£700- £1000-ish is the usual for chains + clutch. Been discussed loads- try using 'chains + cost' in the search :)
  24. Looks like the PCV or it's pipework is leaking. Cheaper to get these parts from Ford if you need them- same as Galaxy V6 ;)
