  1. Wow, Andy! That's some serious hard work you've put in there- will finish the car off really nicely- the rest was looking really good already when I saw it 8)
  2. Thanks Steve- that was quick! Now booked in with Nationwide- bargain!
  3. Gonna be in Swansea for a few days and don't have time to get the Skoda MOT'd before we go, so it'll have to be done while we're there. Anyone recommend a trustworthy garage? Cheers :)

    engine mounts

MK2 diesel mount is same fitment, but solid rubber instead of hydro/bonded rubber. It's stronger, gives better gearchange etc. Got one from ECP for £20 delivered.

Front mount is easiest to check. Put the handbrake on and get someone to put it into first, lift the clutch about halfway and touch the accelerator (all with handbrake left on). Whilst they're doing this, watch the engine for excessive movement. Other than this, you can check visually. Front and gearbox mounts are hydro and full of an oily fluid- so see if there has been any leakage. How's the gearchange? If there is no paperwork to suggest they've been changed and they look old and rusty, it's worth changing them out anyway TBH.

Think they wear out eventually. You can just replace the insert though, not the whole mount 8)

Don't buy GSF or any other pattern mounts, apart from the gearbox mount. They're just not up to the job. I would go with a MK2 Golf Deisel mount for the gearbox + VT front and rear. Defo go VT with the front mount.
  8. - I love reptiles, amphibians and fish- still can't stop myself catching the newts in the school pond in the Spring, and have been keeping tropical fish for 25 years - I have identical twin sisters + my Mum's an identical twin - Really into electronica (The Black Dog, Aphex Twin, Bola etc), but have a soft spot for Level 42
  9. Dark green late Rado on Cherry Tree Lane, Cirencester at around 4pm today. Gave you a thumbs up, but as I was in the vRS, I expect you didn't notice!
  10. Yeh, seems to fly in the face of environmental policy, and the current worldwide money problems. He said he had to smash the lights up with a hammer and snap the grilles in half  :(
  11. Have used both Motorsportworld & Venom in the past, and they were both great. That's a decent price.
  12. Went in to VW today to get a few bits and got talking to the parts guy. He was telling me the stuff they throw away is ridiculous. Two years ago they had a massive clearout and threw away tens of thousands of pounds worth of old stock that had been on the shelves for too long. He had to break it all before it went in the bin- including Corrado headlamps, Golf GTI grilles etc etc. He said that VW paid them for the stock, but insisted that it be disposed of. What's wrong with VW?!!!! This is just sheer wastefullness, especially as so many parts are going obsolete. On a brighter note he gave me 20% discount today! It's usually 10-17% 8)
  13. Glad it's all OK Dave 8) Fancy doing mine?
  14. Hi mate, moved this to Drivetrain as it's much more relevant in here (also edited the thread title). Check out the stickied 'Suspension Discussion' thread at the top, and use the search- been discussed to death! :)
  15. Beat me to it, Jon  Those were the days...
  16. Think it's only the bottom middle tab that needs to be cut off- at least, that's all I had to do to get my FK debadged grille to fit my early valver.
  17. Somewhere around 98K if I remember correctly.
  18. Why was he getting the hump? We overtook him carefully enough  Cyclists really pee me off sometimes- especially when they ride side by side and are reluctant to move over- they seem to think they own the road sometimes!
  19. Good to hear - excellent angle in that pic, one of the best for a Corrado. Thanks dude 8)
  20. Well, as Ian was in 'granny mode' behind me, I'm not surprised! The traffic was a little annoying :bad-words:
  21. After Vornwend and I had parked up at The White Horse pub (Buckover near Thornbury), a guy came over and said he'd always loved Corrados and was a MK2 fan too. He asked what it was, then noticed the badge. Said they were 'really nice' and 'well done'. :D
  22. Can't believe people do stuff like this  Nevermind- at least you'll have a perfect clutch for many years to come! :)
