  1. Yep, exact same thing happened with my first VR. Just kept opening up and leaking, so it was new rad time in the end :(
  2. Good work, Dave. Gonna change the heater matrix?
  3. This has been done to death- use the search and have a read in here :) Personally, I wouldn't use anything other than a VAG paper filter with a G60...
  4. Thanks mate :) Yep, the sticky strip they come with just isn't up to the job! Get yourself some number plate tape from Halfords and fix some where the original stuff was (where it joins the B-pillar). You could also put some along the top edge too. HTH!
  5. Try the search for the ISV, mate- been discussed to death! ;)
  6. On the Jap front, I would consider a 350Z when it's time to move on. Or a Jag XK.
  7. I remember one of them being up for sale a couple of years back.
  8. Used them a couple of times. Very good prices on the whole + decent service :)
  9. When I got the VR a couple of months ago, my wife took over the vRS insurance, while I got insured on the VR. My quote with Flux went from £380 on the heavily modified, more powerful and more valuable vRS, to £850 on the very lighly modded VR! Unbelievable! I've been with them for around 7 years now, and they just couldn't be bothered. The woman on the phone had a real 'like it or lump it' attitude. They came down to £600 after I told them Admiral offered me £350, and they tried to tell me what a fantastic deal they were giving me  Gotta say, Chris Knott came up trumps, beating the Admiral quote and doing the same for my wife on the vRS.
  10. I managed to stay with Vornwend's Storm a couple of weeks ago on a spirited drive- he's running 263's + Stealth remap + BMC + Magnex. I've got a BMC + DG remap :) Dave, what's the benefit of the 3 layer headgasket? Temp?
  11. Nice one, Darren. Not surprised ;)
  12. Wow! Good work, David- gearbox looks superb 8)
  13.  Sorry I didn't see you, mate! Not really awake in the mornings!
  14. Can someone add me please? 1996 VR6, GL12. Cheers! :)
  15. Fixed! Changed the end of the loom which plugs into the horns (had a spare from the breaker), and all fine now. Inspected the old loom, and it looks perfect though
  16. Indeed! Mine will never be finished, either, especially as people keep hitting it in the work carpark! Sunvizors and wind deflectors are where it's at!
  17. Indeed :bad-words: No CCTV I'm afraid :( Kev, it's the latest black VW Polo one, so should be fine...
  18. It's gonna be cracking when it's finished 8) Gotta get me a middle sunvisor! :)
  19. The DG map is different to all the other maps, and certainly is not the same as the Ebay ones. Had an ebay chip in my last VR, and it seemed to make the car a tiny bit quicker, but it was also lumpier than standard, and economy dropped a bit. The DG chip is totally smooth, and the boys have spent a lot of time on it, as they know the VR6's short-comings all to well. Economy hasn't changed, but then I think my blue temp sensor needs changing, so difficult to tell. Dave showed me the 3D mapping graphs compared to loads of other maps- the attention to detail in improving over the standard is very impressive, compared with most of the other maps, which were haphazard to say the least (most just increase the fuelling throughout the rev-range, not taking into account where and how much it's really needed).
  20. Also have this map, and it's superb. The whole low/mid-range is so much better now- much more effortless to drive now. Brilliant price too :)
  21. Aye, what Gareth said. Don't think any of them are actually original BBS...
  22. Thanks Kev. Funnily enough, I changed my ignition switch a few days ago. I'll check and make sure everything's plugged in properly. Been fine today so far. However, just discovered someone at work has hit my car without owning up for the second time this year...
  23. Checked the fusebox tonight- all seemed fine. Also checked the engine loom plug next to the auxillary waterpump. This was on quite firmly, but wasn't 'clicked' on. Maybe I'm clutching at straws, but hopefully this was the cause of the probs. Took it for a 10 minute drive and all seems fine. Will drive it to work tomorrow, so that should show up any faults if they're still there. Fingers crossed!
  24. Thanks chaps :salute: Will give it a good check over at the weekend. Won't drive it until it's sorted though!
  25. Looks like it's all coming together, mate! Excellent work :)
