Wishing you a swift recovery, Andy :( Not a nice injury to get...

How much was it? My footpump always seems to give wildly differing readings to garage airlines, which also seem to vary a bit. Looks like a good bit of kit.

vr6 storm... bargain or not(UPDATED 14TH OCT)
CazzaVR replied to VR6 Lee's topic in General Car Chat
How long's a piece of string? Depends on lots of things- a mint, low miler- sub 80K would prob be around £5K. It totally depends on condition though. Reckon the most that one could have hoped for is prob £3-3.5K, but it might have hung around for a while in the current climate. Lack of history doesn't help, as Vaughan says. -

Yeh, that's a good price for a Mystic Storm- looks pretty decent too. Loads of similar regular VR6s around for that kind of money though. -
Bought a couple of PS3 games from Jon_vr6- arrived a couple of days later- thanks mate!
-
Thanks to Andy-H for the quick payment etc :)
-
As Dave says, make sure it's Valeo. I bought the more expensive one from GSF last year, and it was Valeo and was absolutely identical to the original VW/Valeo one I removed. Remember, GSF also give 10% CCGB discount ;)

DG Autotech sell 'em.

This has been done to death- the search is your friend :) Thanks for the above links, Swompy :)

Agreed! Love the Vento Cups- think they're just about my fav wheels on the Corrado. It's finding some that's the prob :( The MOs are very, very nice too though. As Jim said- love the techie stuff too (just no budget to do it myself), so keep it coming! 8)

It looked like a real quality piece of kit when we were looking at it yesterday. Will get one when I've saved enough :) -
A DA ia a Dual Action- easier to use than a rotary, but not quite as good.
-
It's around £50...

A guy with an S3 came up to Vornwend and I at the petrol station before todays Pootle and Pies- seemed very impressed with both cars and said he was thinking of replacing his S3 with one :)
-
As above- go for it- just label everything thoroughly. I've got one for sale here if you need it...
-
Car's looking excellent, mate! Excellent figures there...

Wow! Looks absolutely stunning, Andy. Reckon the ride height's spot on, but then I'm no stance guru!

Just for reference i bought a headlight loom from him in july, in honesty i mess him about a bit with sending the money but he was happy to wait. It did take bout 3 weeks after payment before i received but i got it and it looks fine. Although its not fitted yet. First self-nomination as a bad buyer!

Thanks to easypops and Volksworld13 for swift payment & dragon green for the ultra fast delivery of a seat handle.

Amazing work, Andy. Can't wait to see it sometime! Pics?

Same happened to me once. Water has prob gone into the airbox. Take the airbox + pipework off and make sure it's all thoroughly dry (inc the filter). Spray some WD40 around. Replace the airbox. If it's a 2.016v, unplug the sensor on the left-hand side of the metering head (as you look at it), and then start the car. If it starts, take it for a long drive. It will be horrible and slow as without the sensor in, but this is the best way to dry everything thoroughly. When you get back, simply plug it back in and hopefully, it should be OK again.

I would only go VAG with a replacement rad. You get what you pay for. Try it yourself- my first one took an afternoon a few years back, and I'm not very mechanically minded. Taking the front end off is actually dead simple!

Cracking cars, but make sure it has a damn good history! Defo go for the Touring, as it has all the toys. Easily tuned up to big power too :) Have you been on the SXOC? Good forum (well it was a few years ago anyway!).

Can't remember if the VR has a driveshaft weight or not, but if it does, it could easily be that. It's a circular thing about 10cm in width- just needs to be secured with a Jubilee each side on the driveshaft.
