Cheers George (joebloggsVR69), For smooth sale of my Speedlines :D . Came and picked them up- nice Storm too! 8)

Go for the G60!!! The only major service difference is a charger rebuild every 40-60k. MPG- not much in it really. My G60 used to get very similar MPG to both my valvers. Parts are quite easy to get hold of for both- both are closely related to other VAG engines. Top speed- if you get the G60 chipped and pulleyed you'll see 140-150 mph. Valver more like 135 tops. HTH!

Nice! :D

Bin 'em! Look horrible, don't protect that much either. Removed mine 6 months ago and not a single mark and the car looks so much better.

VR power curve looks v. wrong.. (NOW WITH DYNO PLOT) :(

dr_mat, agreed, he had a point, but the way he went about it was down right rude! He obviously knows his stuff- shame he can't make his point in a less offensive manner. -
OK, we know your cars, where did your names come from???

Was AndyG60 when I first signed up (still am on Yahoo) for obvious reasons. Now AndyVR6... for obvious reasons. Considered using Cazza or Cazakstan- mates call me that 'cos sirname is Carrick. -

Totally agree, Mike. There's no room on this forum for people with such a pompous attitude to others who he doesn't even know. He has indeed raised some interesting points, but he is clearly very socially inept. This is a great forum where people offer excellent advice and opinions- this is only what Kev and Jim where doing- they weren't pointing a gun at HAAK, they were just offering friendly advice. Fine, if Mr Nothelle disagrees, he can say so, but next time try to do it in a diplomatic fashion instead of using unnecessarily cutting and supercilious remarks which are most unwelcome here. -
Standard discs + pagid fast rd pads, lupo wipers, uprated headlight loom (still need to do this myself!), some tubing to duct the cone filter through the carbon can hole into the front bumper- just done this and it's made quite a difference.

strange idle/heavy fuel consumption...2.0l 16v "94 rado
CazzaVR replied to sambo's topic in Engine Bay
Had a similar prob on my first valver. Check all the hoses leading to the ISV. One of mine was cracked and the idle was very inconsistent. -
Would think so, with a bit of tinkering :)
-
Storm, afraid I don't have a dig camera- I'll try to borrow one. Kev, yeh, doesn't seem to happen very often so nice when it does! :)

Just installed my CAI, and had been pondering at some length where to relocate the CC. After a bit of a poke around in the engine bay, I found by far the best solution is to relocate it under the MAF. It fits perfectly underneath, and I just cable-tied it into position nest to the driver's side strut. Took about 2 minutes :D

Erm, people are just offering their opinions and trying to help. Calm down  . -
Was indeed the CV joint. All sorted now :D
-
Fix clicking/bumping from front (hopefully just CV joint- being done today :) ) Fix/solder aerial Fit my cold air induction ducting So, not that much really :D If I was definately keeping the car for longer: Stainless exhaust, coilovers, Shrek + cams, leather interior.
-
kevhaywire, Henny, cheers guys- will try 'roughing it up' a bit first, then have another crack. It's a pain having to take the aerial off once, let alone 4-5 times!
-
I've tried doing this (twice!!), and the wire just refuses to be soldered to the 'button' in the top of the aerial base. The solder absolutely won't stick to the button. I've made sure it's dry etc. Doing my head in- thought it would be easy! Any suggestions?
-
Well, it's going to the local VW specialist tomorrow- hopefully it will be just the CV joint. I'll keep y'all posted :)

Best way to remove tint is with nail varnish remover- works way better than thinners

Silver C driving towards me near Tetbury 11.15 ish this morning. Flashed lights and waved 8) :) Dark blue C heading towards Reading on the M4 today at around 2pm. -
Had them all done. GSF rear and gearbox, Turn 2 front (which I'll prob change 'cos of vibration at low revs). It feels like there's something catching somewhere as the wheel turns. Cheers guys.

Had the engine mounts replaced the other day, car felt great on drive home. Drove next morning and it felt like the driver's side wheel was driving over some small bumps, and makes a bit of a clonking sound :? - this disappeared at speed. It's still doing it, but only at low speed and not all the time. Doesn't feel right though :( Any ideas? Had a quick look and can't see anything out of the ordinary. Could it be related to having the mounts changed? Cheers.

Saw a dark blue VR today parked up outside a house in Tetbury. Had 17's and looked lowered. On a private plate- L**** -
Glad to hear it's not serious, Jim! Know exactly how you feel though- really is a love/hate thing! Will defo be getting a vRS myself next autumn- already planning a whole list of mods. Will be nice not to worry about every little sound etc every time I drive! Would like to keep the C as a Sunday special, but don't think we'll be able to afford it.

anthonyk, if this was a VR, I've seen it around quite a lot- sometimes travelling between Canters and Ashford. I used to live around the corner from him, so there were 3 Corrados within about 100m of each other :D - mine (then a blackberry VR), another blackberry VR with 17" BBS rims and the red one.
