If you don't want to break the bank, then either Weitec or Koni (shocks) + H&R springs are good.
-
Blimey! Jim, you seem to have some experience in this erm.. field!

Went through the MOT with no advisories this morning. The emissions have doubled since last year though- now at 0.02%! 8) Also pretty sure that the clicking I've been getting from the front is due to the front o/s hub/bearing.
-
Welcome! Sounds like a good 'un, in arguably the best colour 8)
-
Genius!

Keep us posted! ;) Thanks mate. Ain't perfect, but really love this one! 8)

Sorry, who are you? ;) Nice to have you back on the forum Michael! Hope all is well. Getting another Rado then? He's in South Wales.
-
Off course mate- any time! Better be worth it! :)
-
Yep, exactly that. Think I got lucky in that he had one sitting on the shelf. I bought a Vento VR6 gearbox (for £40) for the rebuild, so I'll always have mine (which is good) as backup. ---------- Post added at 1:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:05 PM ---------- Ben, It's tempting, but just don't have the money + don't think I could justify it.

Thanks mate. Yep, a very good price and he really knows his stuff.

Passed with no advisories 8) Really chuffed! CO2 was 0.02 though, which has doubled since last year  Just heard back from Mart- full rebuild is between £500-550. This includes everything including the 3.68.
-
Thanks Jim! Haven't got an exact price at the mo guys- still haven't decided if I want the full rebuild or not. It's around £320 for the 3.68, bearings, seals etc, ARP bolts, labour. I'm thinking of getting the synchros etc replaced too for peace of mind, so that will put it up around £500 I should imagine. This doesn't include fitment- may do this myself. Unfortunately, Martin (Hotgolf) is VERY busy, so won't be doing any more until the autumn. His work is by all accounts excellent though, so worth the wait. I'll tell him there's some interest when I drop it off.

MOT time tomorrow morning- yikes! Only advisory last year was rear wishbone bushes and I had those done a few months ago with R32 bushes, so I'm hoping it will go through OK!
-
Excellent progress Mark! Nice to have someone else to work with on stuff like this 8)

Could well be worse underneath! Defo change it. I'd go for a Beru one as they're excellent quality, but a good price: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=647 Not sure what make these are- worth checking (same company as Eurocarparts): http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/ignition-coil

There are two different lengths of decat for the VR available AFAIK. Measure yours and take it from there. I think the Golf one is shorter, but not totally sure! Personally, I'd take it to Powerflow/Longlife or similar, then you will know it will be right ;)

You can just delete it with no ill effects.

Tenner postage OK?
-
 I would only sell the new improved ones- those are the inferior old ones that don't show up well on the car. £20 for a new one £50 for a 20th anni- any takers? :)
-
I sent him a little message ;)
-
 That'll learn 'im!
-
Thanks mate  Copied it but forgot to put it in! I've got some CCGB 20th Anni stickers too- reckon they must be worth a bomb!
-
Barsteward! I can feel a banning coming on- you just can'y play with people's emotions like this!
-
Hmmm, got a box full of these under my desk... £8 starting bid- what a pillock
