1. ....I'm just on the phone ordering centre caps for my Dad's new (2005) TT for his Christmas present. A speedline centre caps is about £7 each I believe.......Well the TT caps are going to cost £107.56 all in!!!!!
2. I have watched that video many many times!
3. Are these not the bushes that benefit from being replaced with R32 equivalents?
4. Hey mate, it was good to briefly meet you on Sunday, shame about all the trouble your having but it looks like your getting it sorted quickly! I tip my hat to you! Can't believe you have a Rocket as well! Hardcore :thumbleft: (there's no rawk smiley)
5. FWIW - I got some last year from the dealers, £9 inc VAT each.
6. Thanks for coming back and updating! Love it when people do that. I wont have to bump an old thread to ask in a month or so when I'm doing mine :)
7. You could also have a look at http://www.vagcat.com for part numbers :) Sent from my HTC Desire
8. Can't answer all of them but here goes: 2 - Isn't this specific to the stereo you have? I have an old sony one kicking about that I can give you but it's not Corrado specific. 3 - Obsolete I believe - But available here 4- These?
9. Can I just say that I met Jim, Supercharged, Pete Griff, chazrad and scarlet_vr6 all for the first time 'properley' at the Stealth day this year and found them all to be easy to approach and chat with. It was obvious they all knew each other but I wasn't made to feel like an outsider. I just had to stick my hand out for a handshake and introduce myself. Combined with scarlet_vr6 saving me after being stranded and what she told me about how great the CCGB was I decided I would be signing up! I'm hoping that I can get involved, maybe I could take on the role of 'introducer' and I'll introduce new people to the various regulars?
10. Yeah my Corrado heaters are really hot as well, I think it's pretty common.
11. It was weird, on Saturday the starter wouldn't turn over at all, but floppyman came over and managed to sort it bypassing the bit that was causing the problem. We thought that had fixed it but then the next day it was turning over but not firing (after having driven it), the fuel pump wasn't priming and the AA guy said the coil wasn't getting any power. The factory immobiliser that's connected to the ECU is still there and still works, I tested it by unplugging it from the black box under the headlight switch and it fired up and ran then cut out a second or so later at least I won't have any problems with insurance. I stripped out the stuff in the picture above and rejoined the cables that had been spliced into, had to drop the fuse box and get behind it, was a bit of a faff. Just need to go back and tidy it all up now. I'm going to take some pictures as I'd like to know what connectors had been cut (I'm guessing fuel pump and coil ^^). ---------- Post added at 08:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:52 PM ---------- Yeah man! It was all over the place. Think I got most of it tho :)
12. Well first this happened (on Saturday): Sunday: I successfully drove to Basingstoke to meet scarlet_vr6, we got petrol, drove to Newbury to meet chazrad and owen and then the car wouldn't start again!!! It was different this time, it turned over but wouldn't fire. scarlet_vr6 offered to call the AA for me (thank you so much!), as I'm not a member (but will be soon!) and they messed about with it for an hour or so before giving up and towing me home. So today I have pulled this lot out: And now the car works again!
13. Sorry I didn't get to meet many of you, by the time I got there most people were gone or leaving. Well done and thank you Jim for organising a top day out and I look forward to the next one. It was good to finally meet you. Thank you again Fay for saving me today and sorry for delaying the three of you! (I really didn't want to be the unreliable one but that stubborn car is getting a hair cut tomorrow!). Hopefully meet a few more of you next time :)
14. Well, what a day! Started off by visiting Halfords to buy some distilled water, this was fine, then I headed to my local VW dealership to grab some G12 for a coolant flush and change. I buy the coolant jump back in the car (at VW), turn the key, and nothing! This has happened before, normally 2nd or 3rd go it fires. I thought it was the ignition switch, I had a new one on me, I was on my way home to fit it! So I called my dad who brought me some tools down and I swapped the ignition switch out in the dealership carpark lol. Right outside where all the techies stand to drink tea! New switch in and I'm thinking I'm home free, imagine the words that came out my mouth when I turn the key and....nothing!! So my dad offers to go and get the work horse and tow me home. I've never been towed before so this was a pretty scary/horrible experience! Lucky home is only a mile or so away. I never asked anyone for help at the garage, they have a job to do and I don't want to disturb them, but they did give me a push out of the parking space I was in (thanks chaps!). Once I got home I was pretty much clueless, I did some checking here to see what it could be but I really didn't know what to do. I suspected the starter motor but didn't know how to prove it. At this point I thought I would have to bail on tomorrow (I have been seriously looking forward to it!). Floppyman PM'd me his number and offered his support and after a quick chat he was on his way to my house to help, with a spare starter in tow! He was only here a few minutes and had diagnosed it, amazing! Once we had ruled out the starter (and tested it) we knew it had to be the wiring, so we bypassed the after market immobiliser (which is **** anyway) and all was good again. Car fires first time every time (so far). We have done enough tonight to get me to Stealth and back tomorrow but I seriously need to sort the wiring out, it's a horrible mess. I'll show you tomorrow. I have to say, Floppyman wasn't the only person to offer help, Portent and Monzablue also PM'd me and offered to come round and help! Simply amazing, thank you all so so much, people like you are what make this place the best community on the net! I have friends who I've known for years and they wouldn't have even offered to help at such short notice, let alone driving 30 miles + to help! Anyway, I didn't get to do what I planned to do today, the car is filthy and the coolant change didn't happen, but at least I'll be able to actually go now!
15. Floppyman has kindly offered to give me a hand and is on his way! There its still hope for me. What a legend! I love this forum!!!
16. Hey mate. Well I have no idea! I don't know if its the starter, wiring, immobiliser or something else. Just looking for my multimeter at the moment!
17. It won't turn over. Turn they key, lights come on, everything primes like it should, then nothing. I thought it was the ignition switch which I was due to replace today anyway but I did that in the car park and it still won't start. Been towed home now so need to do some fault finding. I'm going to start at the starter motor and work backwards from there. Problem is I know nothing about electrics!
18. Oh dear, currently writing this as I wait to be towed home! Might not make it tomorrow :(:(
19. So just been doing some last minute research in advance of a coolant flush/change tomorrow (pre RR day) and now I'm thinking maybe not? In one of threads someone posted that it's common for head gaskets to go after a flush...any truth to this? Don't really want to blow up my engine either on the way to or from Stealth on Sunday!
20. Quick question, is G12+ or G12++ the stuff to use in a VR? I'm flushing are replacing my fluid tomorrow and I've just read that G12++ is only for alloy blocks (the post was from 2007 tho!). Ta.
21. By that time I'll have had a coffee, 5 fags and a blast in the Corrado....I'll be wide awake!
22. That looks like it'll suit us nicely, at the moment it's myself, Charlie and Faye that are 100% so a car park of 6 is plenty!
