1. Interested to know more about the banded steels mate. I've read mixed stuff online about them, but I appreciate most people are just armchair heroes. Some people say they're illegal, some people say they invalidate insurance and some people say they are impossible to balance, I really like them but I'm hesitant.
2. There's more Jap than German there...nothing wrong with that although I do find the Jap interiors lacking quality somewhat. My two best mates both have 350Z's, very affordable these days perhaps worth a look? From your list I'd go for a DC5 if I wanted Jap but if I wanted German I'd probably be looking at something from VAG only because I'd want something with 4 wheel drive.
3. I thought you wanted something small? Wasn't a Z3M mentioned?
4. Cheers Kip that looks like just the ticket. When you mentioned this before I didn't realise you could buy it like that. Think I'll make an investment and give it a try.
5. Hmm, I sadly know nothing about that type of engine but surely it has to be a sensor on it's way out? At least you have a spare ISV you can sell :)
6. Good point, have you found a replacement yet Kev?
7. Mines not but only because financially I haven't been able to. Had it 3 years and driven it less than 500 miles, on the longest journey I've done in it, it came home on the back of an AA van haha! However, that's all set to change in the next month or two and literally can't wait to use it as a daily. Got most of the mechanical issues and small 'quality of life' mods done so I'll drive it as much as possible for a few months and see what happens. Maybe I'll want to throw cash at it, maybe I'll drive it until it dies but ultimately I'm of the opinion that cars are for driving so get in it and gogogo!
8. It's perfect in terms of size, the picture is poor because I took it using my flood lights for light. I quickly plugged it in to test it out, a few notes in case you're interested: - The supplied power cable is too short so get a longer one or extend it - If you don't have a spare RCA output you can splice it in to the existing cables for the rear speakers (this actually works very well) - The remote on lead is also slightly too short I only had 10 minutes to hear it but I have to say WOW! I cannot believe how good this thing is, the amp is tiny, the whole thing is very 'cute' but the quality of the whole unit and bass it kicks out is brilliant. Being an 8" it's quite punchy, a 10" would be marginally better as an all rounder but all the other great features far out weigh that fact. I've still got loads of tweaking to do and expect this to fully satisfy my bass needs :) ---------- Post added at 10:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 9:00 PM ---------- This is what I'm going to do.
9. I'm still waiting to hear about my bonus (given I still don't know, it's not looking good) but I'll know within a week then I may be in touch!
10. I don't believe that. Even if they did void his policy on the spot, prior to that he was insured. Normally at that point, the police would tow the car. I think who ever told that story used a bit of creative licence!
11. What does it matter? If you have an accident and your insurance refuses to pay because you had undeclared modifications, the only person in the **** is the guy who now has to pay for the 3rd parties costs. And if that was to happen to me, I'd take the ****er to the cleaners!
12. Like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINI-SMD-TIMER-SWITCH-TIME-RELAY-1-TO-145-SEC-KIT-10A-Delay-Off-Switch-12V-/280819762656?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item41622985e0
13. I don't call mine anything other than 'the corrado'. On a less but still relevant note, I've recently discovered that I can't read any build threads where the owner refers to their car as 'she'....AAARRRGHHHHH!!
14. Mine arrived today so I'll plop it in the boot this week and take a photo. Can't use it until I can replace my head unit though :(
15. Dude, anything back from Dirk? I don't want to pester anyone and appreciate the other suggestions but I am keen to see these available :-)
16. Have to say this is probably my most anticipated mod for this year so watching with much interest!!
17. Thanks mate. Impressed with that!
18. Have you checked the operation of the alternator? Even a new battery will go flat very quickly (hours if you have headlights on) if the alternator has failed. Do you know how to check the charge with a multimeter?
19. They're not JOM...JOM have blue springs and I don't believe my collars are anodized.
20. I've decided I want a new head unit and have found the one I want so I'm selling this. I purchased it from another forum member a few months ago, it's in perfect condition except for a slight mark on the top just above the 'next track' button (visible in the picture). This unit has green lighting and suits the Corrados standard illumination very well. Included in the sale: Head unit (with removable fascia) iPod and USB connection cables Cage Storage box for fascia I can also include the loom adapter if required (although my next unit is also Alpine so if you don't need it, please say). I'd like £90 plus p+p (which will be less than £10) or you can collect if you're local. Any questions, let me know.
21. Too late, already ordered mine, can't wait! I paid 107 on Amazon. I had some Christmas vouchers :-) Can someone post a picture of the connections so I can order a wiring kit. I assume it doesn't come with one.
22. Because where I live there are no lights in the car park and I find with the Clio the interior light is enough to highlight any puddles to avoid whilst walking to the car :)
