  1. My car came with a damaged space saver tyre. I have tried to purchase a replacement but can't find anyone to buy from :mad2: . Any ideas?
  2. Service no longer available  I just bought 100m[sup:1b3yx8ps]2[/sup:1b3yx8ps] of polythene sheet from Screwfix to line my garage for spray painting stuff, might knock up a few door membrane 'replacements' and put them on e-bay  you wouldn't be the first
  3. I prefer Chip Foose seams a nicer guy to work with as well
  4. I was unsucessful with silicone as it did not want to dry. The stuff below worked well for me http://www.screwfix.com/prods/54342/Sealants-Adhesives/Adhesives/Grab-Adhesives/High-Performance/Evo-Stik-Wet-Grip-Adhesive-290ml;jsessionid=2DL1ZHNG34JIQCSTHZOSFFI#reviews
  5. I did mine when I changed my subframe. It was easy off the car. I found a blunt bolster chisel and a hammer the perfect combination to compress the bush prior to bolting them down
  6. Good luck with the project :D I have done a couple of these myself so just shout I will try to help :D
  7. My G60 has been insured by Performance Direct for 2 years now. Its only a play thing so I don't do the mileage but its the cheapest insurance I can find and with an agreed valuation
  8. Is it worth changing the standard ignition coil for an aftermarket one, if so which one? Also what are the best HT leads to fit, 8mm, Splitfire twin wire?? The car runs fine but I am always trying to improve things :D
  9. Would worry me driving a car with wheels drilled like that, especially with the torque a good G60 pumps out
  10. I had the same problem with my water level. It turned out to be a hairline crack in the black plastic sensor housing on the front of the head.
  11. That did cross my mind especially as its only held on with 2 bolts in opposite corners. 4 would have been better.
  12. Not seen one but would think it would not suit the car. On the + side using the Corrado and a roof box is better than using an estate car
  13. I have a leak coming from where the black plastic sensor housing joins the head :( . I removed this and the O ring seal is flat so I purchased a new one form VW this morning and replaced it :D . The problem is I still have a leak from this flange under pressure :censored: . I am sure I should have used some sealant on the joint but am not sure what to use. Any ideas?
  14. I had the same problem see below Broken Side Tilted.jpg[/attachment:e4cy0j9u] I could not see a way of fixing this in the car so I purchased another cassette and overhauled it, new cables new tilt mechanism everything. What happens over time is the bracket that the spring loaded rocker sits on wears/bends up slightly so that the rocker won’t drop and lock for tilt. Most people put bigger rubber stops on so that the rocker sits lower but if the 2 pieces jam then the cable bracket snaps. The Corrado sunroof is the same one as fitted to the MK1 Golf with the addition of motor. Unfortunately the motor does not feel the jam as we would if winding a handle so it carry’s on try to move the roof until something snaps I am afraid it’s headlining out to do this but in fairness it was not a bad job to do. Just remember that the motor has the switches in it that control the stopping positions for tilt/slide and shut so it’s important that the sunroof is in the same position as the motor thinks it’s in when it’s attached. The great thing is all the part are still available from VW. Give me a shout if you need part numbers etc :D
  15. Same happened to me, got the thermal fuse too hot and it went open circuit. Best advice is to scrape the old areas you are soldering onto with a sharp knife to get rid of the years of corrosion and oxidization. Tin them well and tin the thermal fuse. The two parts can then be soldered together with minimum heat. Just to be sure check after with a meter for continuity.
  16. Thats a lovely looking car. I really like the wheels :D
  17. If your rebuilding I'd get a VR CHN,CCM code box and swap everything into a 4 pot 02A casing. So the CHN,CCM is the gearbox code for a VR6? and its internals will fit into my G60 02A box? Sorry to sound a bit dumb but I am new to this and want to understand the options I have before I approach somebody to do the work. When I look on ETKA for my car there are approx 10 different gearbox part numbers listed. Does that mean that the G60 was manufactured with up to 10 different gerarboxes? 18. I have a 1.9 G60 running a 68mm pulley producing about 200BHP. I have purchased a Wavetrac diff and plan to get this fitted to a spare gearbox and at the same time have the box overhauled. I have been reading on the forum various posts on gearbox ratios & final drive ratios but can not seam to draw a conclusion on what is the right way forward. The only observation I have with the car is that it would be better to be able to hit 60MPH in 2nd gear rather than having to change to 3rd. Any advice on the best ratios and final drive would be very helpful
  19. Works a treat now
  20. Plan to do this at the weekend unless the snow comes...........
  21. Nope  The Amstrad of tyres!!  They certainly look the part on 17" rims, previous owner must have been on a bit of a tight budget.
  22. The tyres on the car are in good condition but are of poor quality (they are made by a company called Triangle!). They were on the car when I bought it and I plan to change the wheels and tyres soon. I will try your suggestion of swaping over the wheels it does not matter how much tread is on the tyres,we have had good brand and brand new tyres cause all kinds of faults....and triangle....say no more :gag:[/quote:1mhq9vhb] Yes I thought they were sh1te too. A daft name for a tyre Triangle does not rotate very well
  23. Already checked this as I had replaced both wishbones so sadly its not that... :(
