Help regarding wing mirros that were availble from ebay
g0ldf1ng3r replied to g0ldf1ng3r's topic in Exterior
much appreciated Jim! the force must be tired today, I must need to top up my Midi-chlorian's ;) -
Hello all I am hoping someone can help. I remember recently seeing a few threads about wing mirrors which were brand new genuine replacements being sold on ebay. Does anyone know if they are still available & have a link please? I have searched lots on here & on the bay & cant find them thanks muchly

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
g0ldf1ng3r replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
nice work chuggs & happy to help, glad it worked well :) this is one I need to tackle myself -
yes m8 I have a note on my phone which I regularly update whenever I do something to either VR or 16V & then I periodically print them out to put in the folder of receipts I find it helps visualise what has been done & what might need doing in the future

hence my question as the heat output in the valver is nowhere near as hot as the VR BUT I double checked the 2 hoses for their part numbers & they are fitted correctly as they wouldn't fit the other way round I wondered if it took a few times of using the heater when a new matrix was fitted to let it bed in so to speak
-
ive managed to find a pic showing the top of a matrix & the fee to heater pipe is on the RHS http://media.corrado-club.ca/mods/images/a3vr6_heater_core/a3vr6_heater_core026.jpg PHEW!!! lol
-
kinda what I thought too Jim, they are kind of just a small radiator, but the valeo matrix I put in definitely had an arrow on top of one of the pipes showing the direction of flow stupidly I didn't take a picture before I put it in but im pretty it was the right hand one as if from the bulk head side
-
blimey I hope I have put mine on the correct way on my valver am I right that the feed to matrix hose connects on the right hand side pipe of the matrix as you look at it from the engine bay? I checked Bentley manual but it doesn't cover the 16v but the SLC diagram did show the matrix feed being on the right edit: the hoses are a different shape to your pictures of course though

ok no probs :)
-
I have one made by Zender which sits just above the standard rear spoiler whilst allowing it to go up & down as normal not sure if they look similar but I can take pics & send it to you if you would like from memory it is in excellent condition
-
thanks for the heads up Dougie
-
I see & understand :)

blimey that is not the best experience. it must be frustrating having to keep monitoring the exhaust 1500 euro is a huge amount to outlay for an exhaust that would have no warranty I got a 2.5" stainless system from downpipe back with a hi flow CAT & a lifetime warranty that goes with the exhaust itself & not the purchaser for £400 all in & custom fitted the result is absolutely awesome & I never have to worry about the exhaust again Longlife systems - worth a look ;)

man with a plan :)
-
chuggs you could always try the auto glym tar remover stuff I used that to remove the horrible super sticky stuff they put on the side strips to hold them on - it came off a treat with the above & I plan to use that to remove my bonnet lining
-
no probs billcor I guess everyone got excited seeing your thread revived ;) glad you finally got the golf - look forward to the pics
-
ooo intriguing! how comes Jim?
-
thanks sean & jim - appreciate your replies I kind of thought as much everything seemed to move ok when it was apart & feels ok on the sliders now it is back together however the majority of the thin foam liners on the heater box flaps disintegrated during the matrix swap. I have a feeling they may help reduce the cold air feed to the matrix when you have it set to heat on the slider the air output is pretty warm, just doesn't feel as toasty as the VR for example
-
have a look in the suppliers section for the headlight switch thread there were some very nice reproduced ones available

Corrado display @ 2016 VW festival

damn it why are the good ones always so far away :( -
not sure - I think they screw into the cat from the outside so would hope they unscrew ok
-
Hmmm im sure the heater felt like it was getting warmer than yesterday does anyone know how the level of heat is controlled? IE when you move the slider further towards the warm section doe sit just close off some of the cold air feeding into it (rather than some kind of thermostat) hopefully someone who has recently changed their matrix will see this & can shed some light
-
no problem, happy to try & help out of the 4 id agree with you Jim probably best to measure the old one before you unpack the new one just in case
-
lol you must have post that as I was typing my other reply

OK if I am right you need to look at the SK number when there is a split between parts based on VIN number you need the one that matches your range IE your number 1) says 'VIN to S..000719' which is below your VIN of 1125 - thus not the right one 2) says 'VIN from S..000720' but doesn't mention a 'VIN to' figure - this could be the right one as your VIN comes after the 720 stated 3) doesn't seem to mention or care about VIN number 4) seems to contradict itself as it says 'VIN to 719' but then also 'VIN from 720' - however it also states 'Part detail extra install work req', which implies to me it is a kit of some form maybe probably worth removing your current old one & measuring to be sure or PM Thursdave on here as he works at VW parts & should be able to use his system to give you the correct one I have had similar issues with parts recently as when I ordered a new steering rack for the valver the one that arrived was wrong. it was figured out that the car reg was not enough & there was a split on VIN number which determined a coarse or fine spline hope that helps
