pity it has had to go to ebay it really is a special motor - one I would like to own if I could but sadly not at this time -
WOW they are some tasty lego kits!! my friend has the camper van but still hasn't built it & I have always lusted after the Death Star that was seen on Big Bang but they are so expensive I have never managed to get one I went into toys r us to get a new nerf gun for nerf wars with the gf's kids a few weeks ago & stood in awe like a 5 year old at the Star Wars lego display - I could have parted with a grand easy I reckon!

loving this!! I still have one of the original large car technic sets from when I was a kid, as well as the pneumatic set, in the loft I always said one day I will rebuild it as I still remember having to get the timing correct on the engine in it it is sat next to my boxed original Gen 1 Jetfire transformer ;)

and so onto Day 2 of matrix swap not much to say here really as it was just a case of reversing the previous day. apart from 1 clip (from somewhere on the matrix housing connecting to the air feed pipe on the passenger side) and 1 screw which I made use of elsewhere it all went back together rather swimmingly Hmmm! the cuts on my hands & arms have reminded me about the awkward washer/nut combo's that spin independently of each other which hold the dash to the bulkhead. they really tested my patience as they are nearly impossible to get back on the thread but they didn't beat me lol I took the time to clean stuff before reinstalling, dust & grime etc in air vents for example, which was noticeable once it was all back together. all seats & carpets were vacuumed as well Plus I tried to secure cables etc & tape together where required to prevent rattles - which im pleased to say have been minimal after resinatalling I also took the opportunity to fit the VW standard 16v steering wheel which I had purchased off a kind person on facebook. I will take a pic at break time in terms of getting the valver back to how it was when I sold it the list is getting shorter... eyebrow grill - in process of refurb Kamei front spoiler - this will take some time as I have to save up for the Wurth replast plastic repair kit BUT at least I have found one!! lol gearknob stereo & speakers - might be a challenge as a cowboy bloody chopped the factory loom ends headlight loom upgrade - KUR2Y is making me one of his 3 relay specials :) change alternator as it is noisy as hell

no problem m8 if ever we get to meet I will definitely give you a co-pilot outing ;)

Just a quick note to display my thanks to Dave on the forum! I contacted him via PM on here about a few parts & with his superb assistance they arrived at the end of last week - plus a healthy discount on VW prices too :D to say I am chuffed with 4 brand spanking new speedline centre caps (so I can repaint an existing set I have to match the black wheels) is an understatement. I had enquired at my local VW dealer a few months ago & they wanted over £60 for a set of 4 Dave supplied them for under £30 :D

Day 2 of the matrix saga update will follow but I was so shattered after getting it all back together, & cleaned along the way, I didn't take any pics - however, we all know what they look like when fully assembled lol

hello m8 the exhaust is fecking awesome!!! it has quietened down even more when cruising at 70mph on the m'way but it lets you know it is there when you give a touch of throttle to overtake TBH even when doing say 25mph in 5th it really it nice & quiet however give it some beans & heads will turn to see what the roar is :D as for the exhaust manifold I never even considered it. as far as I am aware, and have read, there are virtually no gains from fitting one unless you get major porn focused on port profile matching, gas flowing, lightening & balancing etc. one would also need to remove any other restricting items such at CAT's, increasing TB etc all of which costs many many £ notes but don't actually give many horses in return

ha ha tickles me every time! thanks m8

I took 2 days off work last week specifically to change the heater matrix in the valver it is starting to get colder & misty so early journeys to work need heat fortunately the gf's mom was away for the week & had agreed to let me use her garage - which was nice as it was big enough to get both doors fully open & a large bench to organise all the bits as they were removed TBH I have been dreading this job since buying the car back last year! off I went on weds morning with a boot full of all my tools, I took the lot just in case lol, & armed with the guide from an old user Kris on here. The pictures in the guide proved to be extremely helpful as sometimes just reading the text about a process can leave some head scratching. I took my time & made myself walk away & take some deep breaths each time something was testing my patience. the 2 bolts which secure the dash into the bulk head were definitely the worst offenders as unless you have extendable fingers they are extremely difficult to reach - cue lots of swearing & cuts getting the damn things back on!! fortunately I had heeded the experience of others on here & had WD40'd the bulk head bolts which hold the matrix housing in place several times over a few months & once again before I started stripping the dash - they unscrewed very nicely :) by the time I was knackered, knees were falling out & back was killing on the 1st day I had managed to get everything apart & the new matrix in its housing :D thank you to the gf for helping me keep my patience & get the dash out of the car Day 1 was not as tough as I was expecting, or dreading, & I felt rather achieved to get to the below....

Hi John Sorry I have only just seen this post You are quite correct the mistake is entirely mine, my apologies for putting the reply on the wrong thread. FYI this thread is the one I meant to put it on http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?16950-Storm-VR-Turbo&highlight=supercharged+storm -

indeed for a reputable set of coilovers that will last they are expensive. however, the suspension is what keeps the wheels in contact with the road & as such is one of the most important areas on a vehicle. thus if you skimp on it then you will end up suffering. whether that be an awful ride or kit that just falls apart etc or both if you read the later pages of the suspension thread there are options for bilstein shocks & then springs to suit, they also discuss those options which can give you a static drop. this subject has risen its head many times lately. what I don't know is the cost difference between the static shock/spring combination & decent coilovers - that would be interesting to assess good luck with whatever you choose
-
the issue is going to be with the current suspension set up professionals tell us that you should never run standard shocks with lowering springs. by reducing the travel on the standard shock it can not perform how it is designed & will cause issues. a proper coilover kit would be your main option to allow you to set the height as you desire whilst allowing the suspension to perform as it should & within its limits

definitely in this case VAG-hag it is a poor example & not worth anywhere near the asking however, for an excellent example of the same it seems markets have risen slightly in past few years as the same market people estimate around £6K back when I brought the VR about 6 years ago the price for an excellent one was around £4k I know that once ive sorted the paint out on my VR I will be requesting an agreed insurance value of around £7K, hopefully by next year. I understand an insurer will not value any modification costs etc but they do say they will agree a value at which it would cost you to replace the vehicle with one of similar condition & as like for like as possible etc however, my current experience of insurers is that they are daylight robbing scum bags who take our hard earned money every year (& at ever increasing rates) but then do everything possible they can to try & wriggle out of any claim

very true & wise words Rog after all should it not be us that praise the high prices due to the amount of time, energy & funds spent on keeping them as nice as we desire

I do wish you would stop having a go a me personally! I have not, at any point, attacked you personally & I don't appreciate you doing so. my original post was not a personal attack on the driver of the car, it was to question why the average person would deem it 'safe' to drive a car with a broken bonnet (however it was broken) when it would clearly be an MOT failure fortunately the majority of community here is not one where threads turn into a slanging match & I have no interest in entering such admins pls lock or remove this thread, thank you -

thankfully neither the general public nor himself were hurt, very lucky! I bet that car needed new seats as well due to the amount of 'holy sh1t' that was dumped on them when it happened lol
