  3. this is the buyers guide i referred to in the other thread m8 http://wiki.the-corrado.net/the_corrado_buying_guide_checklist.html
  4. really it is down to personal choice cressa have a good read of the buying guides on here & maybe see if there are any members close to you & be cheeky & ask for a looksee & passenger ride personally i have a 1.8 16v & a VR & have to say i love both for what each offers also, again personally, i wouldnt be too put off about the chains etc on VR's as you will have a similar trade off with a G60 as the chargers need rebuilding IIRC a charger would nee rebuilding more often than a VR chains need doing - for example i only had my chains done at about 152K when i asked stealth to do a top end rebuild
  5. that is exactly what i wasnt sure of wullie & ha ha ha that'll learn em lol
  6. Yup thats the one. Also, mystic blue is the single storm only colour ;)
  7. hmmm good question when i raise it manually before washing the car, engine not running & using the dash button, & then go for a drive i think, IIRC, that it normally remains in the up position until you first start to brake & then it lowers (or you use the button to lower it) i dont recall it lowering itself as soon as the car is started after cleaning but then i cant remember if it doesnt lower until you have exceeded the 'raise' speed & then slowed down also no idea if there is a reset function but would be nice to know
  8. hello m8 nice little intro story - good luck with your hunt
  9. still no response from any insurers - nope nothing, very disappointing
  10. excellent advice hasan thank you
  11. nice - i do wish i knew how to or had more balls to carry out engine work good to see it in pictures too
  12. ha ha i reckon so m8 lol
  13. thats nuts Rog. is that business cover included or a single place of work commute? i have the latter on both my main VR policy & the classic limited miles valver policy & they are both leagues away from the lynbrook price
  14. indeed they do i think it was the sheer number at high values & not all of those ones being low mileage either bodes well methinks
  15. i saw this site by chance & had a quick search it certainly bodes well for values & i think it shows we undervalue ours in the UK http://suchen.mobile.de/auto/volkswagen-corrado.html?useCase=ChangeSortOrder&__lp=9&scopeId=C&makeModelVariant1.makeId=25200&makeModelVariant1.modelId=12&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&damageUnrepaired=ALSO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&export=ALSO_EXPORT&sortPath=searchNetGrossPrice&sortOption.sortOrder=DESCENDING&defaultOrder=DESCENDING&lang=en
  16. hi simon check out the price of some of the rado's available in europe, it may give you some motivation to fix & keep!!! http://suchen.mobile.de/auto/volkswagen-corrado.html?useCase=ChangeSortOrder&__lp=9&scopeId=C&makeModelVariant1.makeId=25200&makeModelVariant1.modelId=12&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&damageUnrepaired=ALSO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&export=ALSO_EXPORT&sortPath=searchNetGrossPrice&sortOption.sortOrder=DESCENDING&defaultOrder=DESCENDING&lang=en i know we undervalue them in the UK but whoa those are some pricey, but very nice, motors

    WTB Nice G60

errr this may well be way too far away & also outside of your healthy budget but GOD DAMN thats some price!! http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/vw-corrado-1-8-g60-1-hd-nur-56000km-rupboden/204679294.html?utm_source=Criteo&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=gebrauchtwagen_midfunnel
  18. ha ha brilliant! that reminds me of a classic richard pryor stand up sketch where he is on about his 2 doberman's & a burglar breaking into his house......he goes on that the dogs let the burglar in & even show them where the good stuff is but as soon as the burglar's hand is on the exit door handle the dogs turn into the devil & grrrr 'you're not leaving, we want to play!!' it makes me chuckle just remembering it Oh & isnt it funny how my rant has been up for over an hour & not a single insurer who advertise on here have commented - i think not! even funnier when you consider some of them have been jumping on 'new member' posts within seconds or minutes of a new post so as to promote their business (again no offence directed at insurers on here, i am just stating facts as it would be good to hear an explanation if they are able to muster such)
  19. thats the one chris. i have changed the radiator in my VR & noticed a while ago that the coolant looked mucky even though all the coolant was only changed a couple of thousand miles ago delfinis - how does the car run in terms of temps etc? if it is all normal i wouldnt worry about it
  20. you hit the nail on the head there m8! i rekon insurers just make it up depending on how they feel at the time reason i say that is i have recently renewed my classic policy on my valver. I only contacted the insurers who advertise on here for quotes. one of the said insurers replied this to me in an email when i asked why their quote was so much higher than others.... "Unfortunately due to the area that you live in and where the vehicle is being kept we are unable to offer a classic car policy, we have therefore placed you on a modified car scheme which is the best price we can offer you." the car was stated as being kept on a private driveway - apparently this would be better than a garage according to the previous post & some insurers also, why could that company not offer a classic policy when it was currently insured under guess what....a classic f***ing policy WTF!!?? further to this, when i moved house in november last year i duly had to notify the insurer of the VR & the valver. the company who insure the VR said the policy would be slightly cheaper due to the new postcode being very slightly better than the old one BUT when i spoke to the other company insuring the valver i was told the exact opposite & had to pay an increase PLUS (& im sorry for this becoming a rant) what happened to insurance policies going DOWN in cost as we build up our NCB. The valver policy was a fresh 2nd car classic policy & as such i had zero NCB. After a successful year with no claims etc you would expect the policy to go down in price, hell no yet again the policy cost had risen despite me now having a 1 year NCB on my 2nd car. EDIT: having called the insurer it seems they forgot to put my 1 year NCB on file, they apologised & recalculated a 10% policy discount once the added said NCB. in essence i think they are all just robbing barstewards who try to con the public out of as many pennies as possible & have more excuses than a slippery cat covered in grease to those who work in the industry i mean no offence personally but please do offer your thoughts on the above as im sure many of us would like to know why there is no consistency (i should mention that i understand different brokers use different insurers etc which would equate for some of the anomalies but not on basics such as above)
  21. could you drill it out & then use a helicoil kit maybe
  22. very true Jim!! i thought id had got the car dry until i pulled the carpet up & to be honest i couldnt quite believe how much water was coming out of the underlay the underlay on the hard backing under the flat foot area was so bad i scraped it all off & binned it & yes again Jim it smelt awful!! however the dehumidifier has managed to get the underlay on the slope of the footwell dry but its taken over a week Jim thanks for the dynamat mention - i might get a little to replace the underlay i had to bin
