  1. My tyres are 205/40/17 and fit fine. Though my Comps are 7.5 x 17. Not sure if they come in 7 x 17 also?
  2. I'm up to re-new my insurance now and some of the prices people are saying are amazing. A friend on a classic policy is paying low £200's for a VR. My current insurer HIC can re-new for £352 fully comp, not protected. Brentacre can do protected NC, all mods and power limit to 210bhp for £390. More but sounds a better policy with free changes for future mods. Still sounds like a lot of money. I'm 35, 10yrs NCD, no accidents/claims/convictions etc, park on road and not sure about a mileage limit. Any thoughts guys? All other companies have been over these prices. Chris Knott couldn't even price it due to what I'd already been priced.
  3. Hi mate Yep these fit straight on. No rubbing from anything. The rear's need a slight playing with, the dome on the hub will push the centre cap off. So either get hold of 3mm spacers or gently tap the dome back in but don't wallop it! You can fit these over big brakes as well, I did a trial fit over 4 pots and 323mm discs. Expect to pay around £3- 450 depending on condition and tyres. I paid £300 for mine that needed polishing but had good tyres. You can buy the VW centre caps for about £20 a set. Very happy with mine and how they look on the car.
  4. Is there any reason why silicon can't be used?
  5. My car came with Audi S3 Recaro's. Last week I had to take one out and saw the way it had been fitted. Basically the Audi subframe was gone and the Corrado one welded to the bottom of the seat. All works fine, no binding or jamming. The Recaro is electric and does adjust down so the bottom of the seat will near enough touch the floor, handy when tall. Maybe not the idea solution to your question but gives you an option? HTH, Matt.
  6. KFC- Put a bone in a greasy bucket :norty: McD- Nah BK- Good Domino's- Very good Pizza Hut- Awesome Petrol Price's- Sh1t!
  7. I'm just glad I don't HAVE to run the car daily, only done about 2k miles in 11 months :cuckoo: Since using the good stuff, the engine has been purring and not stalling at junctions etc at all, so it does make a noticable difference, I'll carry on with using it.
  8. I thought as I don't do very many miles in the old girl, I'd treat it to the good stuff, been using super the last few months without fail. Didn't even notice the price til it was pumping away. Was in Tesco so thought it would be around the cheapest in town. Wow bit of a shock as I'd been used to paying about 115p. Will you guys carry on using the good stuff or go regular?
  9. Yep, its called Viper Green! You won't lose it in a carpark. Surely that would be worth less come resale time as there's got to be less people that would that colour. I'm a fan of the Scirocco but not so keen on the rear end (oo-er!), being a bit wide and round. The R front and rear bumpers make the car look awesome, think they will be hard to buy off VW as they want the R to stay in very limited numbers. If you don't need a practical car then go for a Scirocco, need practical then its an ED30 for my choice.
  10. Just a quick bump for this one guys. Been talking to TPS and they have a couple of parts listed for the crank seal, is it poss to get any part no's off people for which one I need? And anything else whilst the engine is apart? Many thanks.
  11. Two tasty looking cars mate :notworthy: Great to see the C out in the daylight, has to be one of the best around no doubt :salute: Hmm......carbon strut brace........if only one of those could fit a Corrado. I'd buy one off ya  Nice to see how things are progressing, keep it up mate.
  12. Bloody hell if thats the case, there's going to be a lot of R32 Corrado's driving around. Not really something you want to do on the cheap though. There will be a reason why its cheap. I've seen since, that's a price for a straight swap in a Golf. Not quite the same as fitting to a Corrado! From the guys build threads there's alot of work involved and congrats to anyone who has taken this on.
  13. Bloody hell if thats the case, there's going to be a lot of R32 Corrado's driving around.
  14. Alright dude Whatever you decide its going to cost big bucks, everything I'm doing to my engine at the moment is going to cost in the region of £1k :pukeright: But I know its going to be awesome afterwards and last me for years to come, as I want to keep the car for a long time I don't mind the outlay. You need to decide if you're keeping it for the longhaul or just a coupe/few years. That will help sway your answer. An R32 is a great thought but compared to what you're thinking is wrong with the engine, is a very expensive fix :cuckoo: You have to be talking in the region of £3-4k to everything needed sorted and fitted. Where as your engine at the moment is showing signs of some general wear and tear and just needs some maintenance time and money spent on it. Hope it helps and I'm sure I'll see you soon and have a look with you at the state of play. P.S. You can't go getting an R32 anyway, its not allowed and I'd be gutted :norty:  :pale:
  15. You won't lose this in the supermarket carpark :norty: Like it mate, looks very cool.
  16. Cheers for the ideas fella's. I've done the thermostat and housing, not too worried about the crack pipe as that could be changed with the engine in place at a later date. Chris- I'm very sure that the clutch was changed when Steveo had the manual conversion done, about 2 years ago and 10k miles. Not worried about that bit for now. Would anyone recommend any belts be changed? I'm looking for this engine to be a good one for years to come.
  17. Seriously? The 17" Conti is only 7.7Kg on it's own, meaning your wheels are a whopping 11.1Kg, which can't be right. Either air is heavy (I assume they're pumped up?) or your scales are a little off :D Haha, yep the tyres were pumped up. I used my bathroom scales and they seemed good in the past. The wheels did feel a bit on the hefty side to lift! Maybe I need some TD Pro or similar then!
  18. My 17x7.5 TT Comps with Conti's on weigh 18.8kg.
  19. Hi guys In a month or so hopefully, my engine will be stripped down for fitment of my new head and timing chains/tensioners. Ordered a new head gasket, got ARP bolts, got the various mani gasket's and a heatsoak gasket. Got new oil and G12++ coolant just in case. Been told I should look at a new water pump (as the engine is stripped down and accessible), thats ordered. Would I need anything else in this area? Belts? Part numbers would really help as well. Also been told about needing a Crank Seal? Don't know about this side of things. Any help is very welcome. Do I need any other parts whilst this is going on with the engine? Hope there isn't much else as this is costing enough! Urgh! ! ! Thanks in advance for any advice given, appreciate it all. Matt.
  20. No where near enough stopping power for a 1250Kg 360hp road missile.... I really don't get why TT 312's are so highly regarded by lots of Corrado owners. I'm sure the last of the V6 TT uses 334mm discs? Says a bit about their braking needs! In defense of the 312's- I suppose they are cheap and easy to get hold of. Not hard to fit and not everyone wants monster power so don't need more than those. Me, I'm just a brakes tart who wanted the biggest I could get for sensible money!
  21. 221bhp is pretty damn good mate, I would be very happy to have that. Not sure of any difference with my BMC but the noise is worth having it all day long :norty: Thats cool on getting your carriers sorted, can't be far off now? As far as the hoses are concerned, I'm going to try out the Porsche hoses that were still attached to the calipers when I bought them. Should be good and the threaded end is universal  Cheers dude.
  22. Wow man, someone nicked your engine :norty: Where's the new new beasty engine then mate, we need pics and lots of them :notworthy: Me jealous? Hell yes!!!
  23. What sort of power did yours come up with on the rollers then buddy? Brakes not on yet, just waiting for the carriers to be made after the fellas holiday. He did ask me not to name him as he didn't want the attention from people asking him to make more carriers in the future, sorry. I agree, I would love to check out your car someday also :salute:
  24. Thats a cool list of new toys. The more I'm thinking about the re-map, the more I think I will have to get it done, just a question of lots of costs. Sounds worth it, would you say there's much extra power or just revs and drives better?
