  1. Thanks James. I've been really pleased with how the wheels turned out, especially as I've never done anything like it before. Still not got round to fitting the shift light kit off you. A mate has offered to help with some colour coding jobs so hopefully have some news on that soon.
  2. After getting all the gen VW parts I've now been able to carryout a good service of the VR today. Drained the old oil, replaced the oil filter after a little fight with big nut underneath (35mm) and filled back up with Synta oil. Also changed over the fuel filter. Wow, its not been done for a good few years, seemed almost blocked. The trip computer is showing a good few mpg better straight away, could this really be a direct result from the change over? The same journey- before the filter change 26.5mpg - after filter change 28.9mpg And just cruising along with not very much throttle shows 36-38mpg and before never over 28mpg :gag: Odd? Last week had the gearbox oil changed. The old crappy oil came out looking very brown and gluppy, only about a litre came out. Put in the new VW oil, 2 litres. What a great difference that makes, the lever almost gets pulled into the next position, very smooth change. All these maintenance jobs have really improved how the car behaves, I'm loving the VR even more now
  3. Now I can see why you thought it was like looking at your own car when you saw my build thread :D Looks very good mate, better than my own. Love the body colour handles, mirrors and rear plinth. Thats something I would like to do in the future :luvlove: The cream interior is very tasty :notworthy:
  4. Hi Kip, this is an awesome bit of work and its not hard to see its quality all the way through. Love the new brakes!
  5. Awesome car and guys, this looks so so good in the metal :notworthy:
  6. C488ADO has an airbrushed flag painted on his spoiler, looks good. Have a search on his build thread or for sale add.
  7. I fancied a Recaro seat but once we looked at the reviews, it came clear that the Maxi Cosi Tobi was the safest we could find. That was a couple of years ago so there might be a better one by now.
  8. We've got a Maxi Cosi Tobi car seat. Have to say we've never used it in the Corrado due to space issues and not wanting to wreck the leather seats with the seat digging in. Can't imagine using this car as a family car. I like you Walesy have a T4 which is now the family wagen as well as for work.
  9. Cool, I'll keep an eye open to spot you. I hardly drive mine so could be hard to spot me. Best of luck with doing the coolant. A black VR = mmmm!
  10. Might be a good time to do the mk4 Golf header tank swap as its only £20ish to buy the parts needed from the stealers. Very easy to see your pink coolant levels once done :camp: . There's a guide on how to do it here in the engine bay section. Where in south devon are ya? Good to see more local Corrados
  11. Finally got a bit of time to take off a couple of engine plastics that were cracked and replace with good ones. At the same time I changed the HT leads for much better VW red ones, brightens the old place up a bit
  12. Might have to have a look into this to see if the reason my number 2 position doesn't come on can be solved in the same way.
  13. Hi guys It seems to be a common theme that people ask which wheels will clear their big brakes and suspension etc. Its a bit of a minefield really so I thought it might prove useful to have a list of what people use or have used in the past. Also could be good to have people asking if wheels they are interested in buying would work with their chosen 288, 312, 323 or 330 etc brake setups. Obviously the ET of wheels has some bearing on clearance with possible useage of spacers being necessary or not. So list up your own combinations that have/do work for your car- I'll start with asking a question to see if I could expect any issues or not- At the moment I've got springs/ shocks (maybe coilovers next year), 7.5x17 TT Comps ET38, in the process of collecting the parts to run with 323mmx28mm and big Cayenne Brembo 4 pots. Anyone have a similar setup or know if I'm ok or not for clearance?
  14. Looking awesome! I love this original idea, very tidy. Bet it looks even better in the metal. Very cool car!
  15. The trouble is guys, there seems to be less and less individual Corrado's out there and more uniform same stuff thats universally accepted as looking right. Anything outside this is frowned upon or laughed at. Its not to my taste this car but I'm also sure we don't want to see every Corrado looking like a clone. Good on the guy for thinking of something different.
  16. Could do with a pic of her in a bikini to help decide  yeah ok she's hot!
  17. That 1st book looks interesting, my little boy might want to get one for me for christmas? Wink wink! Rob, I've got a Bentley manual if you wanted to have a look at it before anyone shells out for one for ya.
  18. The highest my MFA has shown is 30.5mpg. Normal for me is around 23-27mpg. Good job I don't use it much  Owned it for 8 months and done 1600 ish miles :cuckoo:
  19. It must be a new small snow plough machine for the winter :norty:
  20. Oh no! Everywhere I go, I get told the same! Haha. I know exactly what you mean. It will be going lower next year. After new wheels, big brakes and general servicing items I've spent close to four figures in the last couple of months on the car. Best calm down for a while me thinks!
  21. I didn't get a chance to take any pics in the daylight So of course I've got some really rubbish pics in the dark instead that you can't see sh1t :gag: Anyway, here goes (sorry :cuckoo: )-
  22. Thanks for the good comments guys. Chris, nothing new to report. Just having a wait for my mate to do a few drawings of the brackets.
  23. Well finally got my ass into gear and finished off the polishing of the new wheels Overall time taken to do them wasn't too bad. I just had a long break in the middle of doing them A couple were pretty corroded, so I decided to wet n dry them all back so they all start from the same position. First 800 grit then 1200 with hot soapy water. To get rid of any final scratches on them I used G3 compound on a sponge head fixed into my cordless drill. After the G3, I used Autosol polisher and finally had Autoglym Metal Polishing over that. Once finished I put 3 coats of Colinite Hard Wax on to protect them from the winter weather. Not got any final finished pics yet as I put them on the car after it got dark. So I can get a few tomorrow. Now these have imperfections on them as they are not professional standard. I wanted to have a go at doing this myself as I've never tried before. I feel a sense of satisfaction from making them shine up from the starting position. So I'm very pleased with them, I'm sure people can pick fault at them but to me thats not the point of the exercise. A few pics of things so far- How I picked them up Part way through being cleaned An after I've given it a bit of elbow shot I'll put some more pics up with them on the car tomorrow, IMO they really do suit the car down to the ground. Very simple lines that compliment the lines of the Corrado perfectly. :luvlove:
