I'm going through the same dilemma. I "think" I prefer speedlines, but as its a storm I'll probably go solitudes. :shrug:

Surprised to see an identical car to mine in the same car park at work: Dyson, Malmesbury. Classic Green Storm on solitudes. Guy called Ralph I think, not sure if he's on here.

I cut the middle prongs off an old dinner fork and bent the outer pins over = The perfect cam tool! Ghetto-style! :norty:

After being left overnight, mine takes about 10 min to get to 90 degress on my way to work, which is mainly driving at an average of 30-40mph.

Loose spark plug, or HT lead maybe?

As per dubstar... The caliper kit I bought from VW had a little sachet of grease with it, and it was very similar to white lithium grease.

I might have been unlucky, but mine was damaged within two months - the drivers side now leaves one very thin water line in its sweep - it must have been some grit on the windscreen.

Yeah, when an oil line broke on my Golf it was like someone had thrown a huge bucket of crude in my engine bay, even though the line was at the bottom of the block. Could they have drained the sump? Does the sump bolt look recently cleaned? A garage once forgot to put coolant into my wifes car after fitting a new radiator. She got a few miles before the engine massively overheated, blowing the gasket and warping the head in the process. The garage got off scot free by saying the headgasket had probably already gone, and thats where the water went. We couldn't prove a thing. :cuckoo:

Had my first +40mpg run in the VR6 at the weekend. 40 min run down some tight country lanes taking it easy in mild traffic, got 41.9mpg I was so chuffed I almost took a photo!

Gutted for you. Hopefully they will be bum r#ped to death in prison some time soon.

Exactley what I did too! Two things to add: The little bit of arm bending required to increase windscreen pressure eventually seems to wear off and needs re-doing. I wrap a cloth around the arm and pour very hot water onto the cloth, then leave it for a few minutes before bending. This makes it more pliable and less likely to snap. Also, the bosch aero wipers are excellent (absolutely silent in operation) but they have not lasted very long. The blade bit is sooo fine, that any bits of stuck on grit etc. can damage the rubber. I might try a cheaper brand next time round.

Looks grrreat! Doesn't need dropping by much IMO - it looks a lot better than I thought it would on stock springs.

Glad you got it sorted Ian. One of us must have weird brakes! (Probably me! :pale: ) The only other thing I can think of is maybe theres a slight difference in caliper casting between brands. Mine are brand new VW one's. Maybe if yours are Lucas or ATE or something like that? Doubt theres any difference though, so its a bit of a long shot. :scratch: Get some pics up of your new wheels!! :wave:

First thing I would check is that all the vac pipes are still connected properly.

My VR6 was hardly driven for a few years before I bought it, and it had all sorts of niggles to start with, including completely seized brakes etc. A well looked after, lightly driven example can be far better than a low miler in my book. :)

I've used Sonus, and a few of the "Own Brand" ones, and I would always use sonus from now on. Its also much better value than the AG or megs kits. The first time I clayed I used shampoo and water as lube, but since then have used quick detailer and the difference is night and day. Plus the QD can be used for other things. Its probably obvious, but I find it better to go around the car in a spiral starting with the roof, so that you end up doing the bottom bits of the car last.

Yankee Candle leather for me. Very mild, and lasts ages, and not "chemically".

Love 'em. Ever since one drove down our street when I was 15, spitting flames generally looking evil. Could I part with the cash? Probably not. The image is shocking, and the Ford scene is generally a bit ropey, and you could get a similar driving experience much cheaper, e.g. a Mitsubishi Evo. PS... Love the integrales too, but have you ever seen their engine bay?? OMFG. It would take me a day just to get the plugs out.

...And if you get bored of it you can turn it into a Westfield!! 8) (Depending on its year)

Before you plump for a proper [and expensive] solution, you could try some decent aero wipers and a bit of mild wiper-arm bending. It sorted mine out.

I fitted the Phillips X-Tremes and they are very, very good. Its a bright white piercing light - would definitely recommend. After fitting them I had to adjust my lights downwards as I was getting flashed by oncomming traffic. My main beams now seem yellow in colour compared.

Performance from cold is very poor, its a little flat generally, and it smells like its running rich, so I'm changing the blue temp sensor first, then looking at the lambda if things don't improve.
