Anyone have the part no's for timing chains and tensioners?
ANDREW 30 replied to Leonard's topic in Suppliers Forum
Hows that for good timing just the parts i was about to look for, and the thread gets bumped for me to find! :D -
I was once told that black boot polish does a cracking job, but never tried it myself
-
I bought them online, so it would be a pain in the arse to send them back!
-
So what bill would you say i'll be looking at?
-
Will these chains guides etc be okay to use: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_belts.php they also have the water pump, where would be the best place to get the stem seals and valve guides from? Would i be better getting off getting this head in this thread instead as it sounds like it had everything done: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... 13&t=82565 How much should I be looking at to have all thats been listed done? Cheers Andrew

It's been losing water but no leak found, puffs of white smoke when pulling away and not running right. Also yesterday when i went to start it the engine would'nt turn over, which i believe is called hydraulicing! So i'm pressuming it's gone, is there anything else it could be?

The head gaskets gone on my VR, whilst it's being replaced at the garage is there any other jobs that are worth having done that are easy to get to whists the head is off! I was thinking along the lines of clutch and chains and tensioners etc! Andrew

Hi i've bought some new platinum NGK plugs for my 94 VR the plug number is :BKR5EKUP 2890 will they be okay in my car, as i've since checked on the ngk site they list a different model plug for my year of car! Andrew

What kind of money do you think i could get for the set i have?
-
Well my brake hoses and bolts arrived today from supercharged so i thought i'd get all my parts out and try them against the car before fitting at the weekend! I really wish i had'nt bothered, the 312mm brake setup i bought: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0333439044 is'nt going to fit my car the hole centres on the caliper carriers are around 145mm and the ones on my car are roughly 95mm! So i then went and grabbed a disc and the hole centre are'nt the same either, im guessing they are 112 instead of 110! :( So i've spent out £235 on brakes that are'nt going to fit my car to say i'm rather pi$$ed off is an understatement!!! :brickwall:

If you manage to source a magnex, let me know where from as i'd quite like one but they went bust a while back so you'll be very lucky to find one! I read on a different thread that apparently they are getting up and running again, but when is the question!
-
I think this is what your after: http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.ph ... 07&xSec=86 i did wonder if they are any good when i saw it!

Exhaust about to fall off! Update: pg4 = Magnex
ANDREW 30 replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Engine Bay
I've been looking at the test results on the exhausts in the link above and the Jetex does make good peek performance, but if you compare it lower down in the rev rang it does'nt do very well. At 3000 revs it only makes 75 bhp where most of the others are making 100 bhp! -

ANDREW 30 replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Engine Bay
Jetex : http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/volkswagen/vw- ... 2-355.html and : http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/volkswagen/vw- ... 1-355.html A bit of a saving above, i'm looking for an exhaust myself and think i'll go for a Jetex but i'm unsure which to go for the two or three box system! -
Cheers i'll deffinetly be wanting a set, just let me know when you want the money sending!
-
That sounds great, what brake lines is it you'll have going spare as ideally after taking things this far i'd like to be putting braided hoses on! Let me know as they are avaliable and what you want for them! Oh something else i have'nt asked my calipers have come without any banjo bolts, do the goodridge kits come with banjo bolts? Andrew

My new ones have got a GB with the union jack above, i blood well hope that they fully conform!
-
I would imagine you could have problems, they said they are cracking down on it and any plates that did'nt comply with dvla standards would get pulled up by them! I just wish i'd acted soon and changed them as now it's costed me £85 instead of the £25 for just the plates!
-
From the 1st July the fine went from £30 up to £60!!
-
My new brakes have arrived all looking good, but the rears are'nt vented disc's anyway i'll have a look to see if there's anyway of getting them on and report back! Has anyone got any link as to where to buy the 4 of M12x1.5x40 High tensile "set screws" from please. And just to check before i buy do these links look like the correct goodridge hose kits: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0343200651 And for the rear when i get round to them: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0403997219

vr6 plug lead removal tools for sale (metal type)
ANDREW 30 replied to zerocool's topic in Suppliers Forum
Recieved mine today! Thanks Andrew -
I've owned my Vr for a few months now but i've only had my car on the road for about 2 weeks, yesterday morning on my way to work i got pulled by a traffic car! They said they'd seen me going in the other direction the day before on my way to and from work and noticed my plates, so they waited to on my route to catch me the following morning! I thought they'd give me a warning and a chance to get them chaged but no, they just slapped me with a £60 fine! I'm gutted, i'd only been saying to the wife the day before i was'nt that keen on the plates the car had come with and was going to get them changed :brickwall:
