all you really need to do is ring vw spare parts and give them your reg. they will tell you what your car was when it left the factory. but as they are closed any insurance company (online for ease) will also state what it is. the turbo should provide some clues aswell, normally stamped with part numbers. they will prob also be able to tell you where to find the stamp (pd110 or pd150 etc) assuming it has one. badges are never something to go by, my old forklift truck had a v6 badge on
-
ha ha race somebody else with one!! not owning a golf im not too sure but i would imagine there would be a pd150 stamp in the engine bay or maybe log book. one of them text check things should bring it up too.
-
Prob will have already thought of it but mk4 golf ticks most boxes.

How much petrol in it? Hopefully enough to rule out pump. Cant hurt to change fuel filter and chuck a bottle of tank/injector cleaner in.
-
a ford fiesta that works?? more pics please

There are three grades infact. A6 too. These refer to resistance as far as im aware, a6 is used mainly for boats, diving equipment etc. A4 will be spot on for use on a car.

find a local fastener place and ask them for them, as long as you know what sizes your after they normally give you them for free. i used to work at a place in leics and we gave away shed loads with the theory that we dropped more on the floor than we were giving away. id also suggest you get A4 rather than A2

i could be very wrong then! they should clean up well. id speak to a refurb place if they are all in similar condition i cant see them charging much more than £50 to make them spangle again. i know a few people who run with no lacquer at all, just give them a rub down when they start going off, if your tight on cash and dont mind a bit of elbow grease now and then you can join them.

weren't they on ebay a while back? on a big old passat i seem to think? 3 inch on the dish wasnt it?

well feel better from the swine flu crap now, so tomorrow im sparing a few hours to get the manifold on - driveshaft to come off though = bad times. ah provided i can find some manifold sealer before hand that is. managed to get some more bits and pieces over the last week though so im half happy. still cant decide on lights though and im looking for a bonnet (again ).
-
not heard of it myself. a bit more involved than just putting covers on im afraid. your best off getting yours re-trimmed in leather at an interior specialist.

generally speaking no its not a good idea. plenty of people me included fook of the c/pot as it doesn't do much once your engine is past 100k. just cut the tube and put an m6 set in the pipe, prob can see it on the pic of my engine bay. although you can buy a 90 pipe (genuine) so it doesn't look butchered. people do remove isv, but this is one of the times as riley points out pistons start bumping the head etc. for me its a step too far but its your car. if you want more out of it go with porting and smaller pulley, chip/remap etc. if your purely after horses then look at g60 turbos.

ecu is under the wipers, fuse box near bonnet pull. when was last service? gasket the right way round? timing ok?

well been looking over My red corrado 1.8 16v in cars for sale. cant decide if i fancy smoked tail lights, and would need side repeators aswell really. like the look but want my corrado to look like nothing so cant get me head round it. suggestions please :help: like all reds too but smoked make plate sorround look less out of place i think, anyway.

depends on a few things really. main starting points rim size and offset (et), tyre profile is important too. but offsets can be altered by wheel spacers. by standard do you mean standard suspension? and arches not rolled? best to pick a few sets and post them with the spec you would want to but them in.

only move if its the size of a badger or bigger. i watched £2000 down the drain for a badger hit. small children are fine though
-
What you say about 8v is very true. Im still not sure about putting it on yet, its about 60% of corrado size. But for how many miles it will do inbetween services i dont think it will cause any harm.
-
well stealer trip done, 3 x g12 polo oil filter corrado oil filter gearbox oil manifold studs/nuts/washers = £40 doesnt feel like they raped me today :D
-
I thought there was some play back and forwards if you loosen the bolts on the door?? Havnt pissed about with corrado doors yet though
-
bit off topic but what have you heard about jabba? from my dealings they know what they are doing, and workmanship is good, but some of the comms i received about my charger were unbelievable. left me a bit nervous about my charger health if im honest.
-
dont always get humming noise in my experience, have you checked disc for any damage? brake fluid level?
-
Clean sensors first, doesnt sound like major fault. Does the abs still work when the light is on?
-
Sounds like could be crank bolt, which means engine timing is out, which means bad times! If your engine inclined theres a sticky on timing set up in engine bay....if not get someone else to have a look but avoid driving till its diagnosed.
-
Cut part of the washer out so it will slide over the thread, then clamp it up. Saves you taking the door off.

the best way, im not sure. i just pulled hose off the bottom of the rad (engine join end) probably is a better way but did the trick.
