sounds like the resetting tool could help, one of my mates had a golf and 1st had worked its way over to just behind reverse somehow. didnt completely fix this but it was a vast improvement. might have enough movement to fix yours. not a vw one but basically the same thing http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vw3104-mk2-mk3-golf-jetta-gear-selector-repair-tool_W0QQitemZ120497586344QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item1c0e3740a8

if you cant get the correct adjustment with the adjuster on the gearbox, i believe you have to have a vw tool to reset the postion of the gearing. think they used to sell them on egay for fairly reasonable money, worth a butchers.

you can get away with 195 on 7.5's (i do) depends on what profile you go for really but having said that i only want to buy 195/50/15 for the rest of my life now, so cheap for good tyres

Induction Kits / very like Marmite - Need Advice please...
mimjed replied to sprinterVR6's topic in Engine Bay
cant say i can agree 100% with that, the snorkel is best described as a tuned pipe which quietens down the induction roar and serves to restrict the airflow into the airbox. this topic has been covered many times on many forums as im sure youre aware. if a cars on the tuning path, the extra flow can be made use of when its mapping time. -

take snorkel out of your standard box, k and n panel filter, cold air feed. simple and cheap -
spot on, my old boy is a lorry driver and can tell where a car is from by the plates. i thought it was a magic trick for many years

warm water to loosen then use solvent (petrol is good) to remove left over cack, fingers crossed that they didnt get superglued

im a sucker for bay side blue (skyline) but know its wrong to paint a vw a jap colour

G werks keep refurbed chargers in stock, worth a phone call

quite possible its the servo, but not sure about it braking when your not touching the pedal?? master cylinder worth checking out at the same time. never heard of a dodgy abs sensor randomly turning on the abs either. i would reccomend changing the fluid as this will eliminate brake lines if it pulls through well

no breakdown of wiring/connectors on the diagram i looked at. it has a foot note which says lambda probe also uses; 357 972 754 J 357 972 741 A 000 979 133 000 979 225 000 979 133 B / PG so i assume these are to do with wiring, but not 100% my assumption of the most useful part number would be the last number as it includes pg :D but you never know.
-
Think it comes as all in one, so i doubt they would split the parts. Will double check later for you.

gearbox takes more oil than you might think. i bought 3 bottles from gsf to be sure, i seem to remember it being 2 and a bit last time i did it. better to have to much than not enough.

vw 037906265B 9a and pg (g60) use the same 5 pin probe.

not heard of any without power steering, only broken power steering.

The point I was making was the chap in question had no say in the cost of the repair because it was done through his insurance, and so slagging him off as having "money to burn and/or little sense" as if he'd just agreed to the repair without an idea of cost was fairly pointless. true but he did start out saying he would pay whatever it would cost to repair as he didnt want to involve insurance......then the bill came :pukeright: i would have gone down the insurance route at that point too

They are high temps to be fair, highest ive seen was 130 and then the heater matrix spat its dummy out. So definatly something to investigate further in my opinion.

yeah but he quotes £4000 for painting the bumper in that quote, ripped off isnt strong enough...........11k is a fair chunk of a house to me!!!

Does LATE (widetrack) suspension fit EARLY Corrados?
mimjed replied to mariojoshi's topic in Drivetrain
yeah i can understand that, but im struggling to find a reason why you couldnt make it fit. corrados are a bit of a mk2/mk3 golf mongrel when you start looking in to it. ill have to have a nosey past and see what the deal is then, cottage lane, braugton astley is where they are -

mimjed replied to mariojoshi's topic in Drivetrain
off topic but, where did you ring? i used to work next door (leicester) and the bilstien bloke had the corrado, mint vr6. and the eibach bloke had a 4x4 pimp truck thing? im not 100% but i think the set up is similar to that on a mk3 golf vr6, we swapped the enitre axles with brakes, suspension dampers etc into a mk2 golf 1.3 so i assume that it would go. wheels had extra poke as the axles are wider but just made it look better in my opinion. -
seem to be a touchy bunch too, lots of abuse being hurled around

mine was only a cheapy of ebay, about 170 delivered (new) only complaint about it was the holes didnt quite line up with the studs, but nothing a small amount of filing didnt fix. other than that seems to be made pretty well, welds are good, pretty clean on the inside. no contact with cables, steering rack or heat shield. they have a few 16v on ebay but all listed as golf mk2, and a couple of second hand ones. great fun fitting them too

you could always bypass the ignition to confirm it is only downside being you have to actually turn the head unit off when you get out to avoid flat battery.
-
i think that will be a bit more than hes looking to spend to be fair, but i will pass on the pic and see where it goes. hard to put a price on it without knowing alot on the car, but based on the miles and from what i can see (condition) i would like to think it would be at least £1400, but with all the money crap at the mo, it really depends whos looking and how soon you need to get rid really. shame it has to go really, i would stick it up on edition 38 when youre ready to sell though plenty of mk2 lovers on there.

oh? i thought i read a post about dg finding two apex seals randomly missing and replacing, maybe it was a one off then. im certain about all of the others though :D
