  1. Not added it up but must be around £2k since I bought it in may. That's on various parts including roof trim, steering wheels, engine and gearbox mounts (still to fit), various service parts, spare gear knob, several replacement bits of trim, new cat 1 alarm and a set of recaros.
  2. Stunning. I've also just noticed the doorcards have been retrimmed. Considering the recaros are such superb condition are they originally heated leather or have they been retrimmed from non-heated cloth?
  3. Yes, red was 93 VR's I believe.
  4. So glad to hear it's starting now :)

  6. Yes I understand. Maybe enforce a 90 day expiry period (similar to the old system)? ---------- Post added at 06:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:53 PM ---------- Haha yes I knew I was taking my life into my hands :)

I was under the impression that the VSR/Schrick improved torque but didn't necessarily increase bhp?
  8. Personally I think it would work. Having said that I would probably recolour the seats to black anyway as I prefer it.
  9. I'm not sure how close to the original that the finish is but: http://www.corrado-teile.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p1915_VR6-Chrome-Badge----Front-New---Corrado.html
  10. I've noticed there appear to be a lot of old ad's still active in the For Sale section. For example the original ad for my car is still there (http://the-corrado.net/classifieds.php?do=viewitem&itemid=337). Now I know this ad is dead because I bought the car nearly 4 months ago. I also assume that some of the parts for sale ad's must also be dead.
  11. Nice models there. Back in the day (early 90's) I used to model with Lightwave. sadly the license nowadays is far too much for the casual user.
  12. I'd say it's a sports coupe or a GT. But not an out and out sports car. As above, one of the advantages in my eyes is the fact it's slightly more practical than a true sports car. I can comfortably get my young kids in the back.
  13. I'm looking for the passenger side foglight lens for a late VR. Obvously looking for one with no cracks. Thanks.
  14. When I was looking my preference was to check on here, then Pistonheads, then Autotrader. I didn't really check eBay much. My thinking behind that was that I really wanted a car from the forum as you can check the history of the car a little more and also if the owner is on here then they are more likely to be passionate about the car. Next was Pistonheads because again it's a motoring forum and so tends to have people keen about their cars. Then Autotrader of course which attracts people who know less about the car but everyone knows about it. Personally I avoided ebay as my thinking was that it's a place of last resort for a seller (I'm probably wrong on that, but that's the way I felt). So I assumed cars would be in poorer condition. There are a few other places to keep an eye out too; car and classic, etc. £2500 should get you a ver good car. Personally I'd start looking now and be prepared to walk away from anything you're not happy with. The reason for starting the search soon is that you get to look at cars quickly and get a feel for what is good and what is bad. Almost all cars will need something doing to them so you're unlikely to find a perfect one. But you'll start to understand what should be avoided and how good cars compare to the bad.
  15. It's interesting that you plan to keep the car fairly close to standard this time. I wasn't around on the forum or an owner when you last had a Corrado but I can tell from peoples responses that you did some great work with a previous car. I do agree with your sentiments this time around that the value (both financially and emotionally) is in restoring it to an original condition (OEM+ with an emphasis on the plus). When the cars were newer it was natural for people to try to distinguish their car by modifying it. But they are rare now. Rare and, despite their low value right now, very fondly thought of by most people who know about cars. VW got it right when they made them. There isn't a lot of need to modify them. The car itself is rare so no need to smooth bumpers or give it an 'eyecatching' paint job (no offence intended to those that do - each to their own and if it keeps one on the road then it's all good). Look at OSV's or C5 OEM's cars. They are almost standard but most of us would love to own them over many eye catching examples out there. That's due to the love and attention they put into them. I sometimes look back on several very good cars that I passed up on and do indeed wonder if I should have bought them. In hindsight maybe I should. But what gives me huge pleasure right now is knowing the car I bought is in safe hands. If/when I sell it, it will be better than when I bought it. And hopefully that is enough to persuade the next owner to keep it on the road. I've already sunk more into the car than I expected or wanted to; but having a rare car which needs attention brings a satisfaction with it on each little job you do. Yet I'm an absolute amateur compared to what I gather is your history with previous Corrado(s). I look forward to seeing what you can do with this one. Bring it back to life :)
  16. Not mine. I came across these while browsing. Half leather recaros from a LHD imported Corrado. He's looking to sell the whole car but may consider an offer for the interior: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-G60-GREY-electric-half-leather-recaros-/250891777675?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3a6a50b68b
  17. Why not buy some proper winter tyres for the a3?

I guess that's because anyone looking to buy it will already know what it does?
  19. Yep. My wife was in the Golf a few days ago and someone clipped her wing mirror (no damage). My wife had right of way because her side of the road was clear and there were many cars on the other side. The other driver had decided to squeeze their 4x4 down the narrow gap and had the audacity to beep my wife after clipping her and then driving off. So... road clear on my wifes side. Road blocked on the other drivers side. Other driver decides to try to squeeze through rather than wait... clips my wifes mirror.... then beeps in anger. To make it worse if there is an accident then the insurance company often goes 50/50 as it's cheaper for them than fighting a claim. And even if the accident is declared not to be your fault you still get increased premiums because you have an accident history regardless of not losing any no-claims.
  20. EDIT: Ignore - apparently my one will be at the dealer tomorrow.
  21. Popped to the dealer yesterday to get the plug to fit into the back of the busbar. Apparently they are now on back order and it may take a couple of weeks to get them :( The weird thing is that I took the part number from another plug that was in use on the back and it apparently came from a car with air con (according to the dealer). Anyway... the seats are 90% in the right position so fine for driving until the part arrives. But if I want to adjust them then could I just connect them to my battery charger and get power that way? I'd obviously wire in a 20 amp fuse if I did it.
