How about one of those cheap tape jobbies... the tape goes into the tape slot (if you have one) and it has an audio cable that goes into the headphone slot if the iPhone. They are dirt cheap from somewhere like amazon or mailing, and are better quality than an fm transmitter. You need a tape slot in our current head unit though.

Merry Christmas :)

I can't help with the actual question on the aerial. But in my experience the fm transmitters for mp3 players/ipods/iphjones/etc are generally a bit rubbish. Personally I'd put the money you would spend on getting an aerial, into buying a head unit with an ipod/iphone input instead.

I just took my 7 year old daughter to see Disney's animated 3D A Christmas Carol. It was superb... 9/10.

Absolutely no offence intended :)

cnut! (haha nice one)

Thanks to Andrew 30 for the amp. Smooth deal :)

Someone pass me a turbo please. I already have the 5 door with Santa Monica's. I don't have a towbar but I do have child seats in the back if that counts :)

Electric cars will only be successful when either the batteries can be charged overnight and then last a full day, or a solution is found to the charging issue. People don't want to sit at a charging station for more than a few minutes. We pull up to a petrol station, put in some fuel, pay, then drive off again. It needs to be something similar othwerwise people will just be prepared to pay every higher petrol prices. The person who solves that will be a very rich person indeed.

Put in a claim for it not arriving and when they say it was delivered, point out you don't own the car it was put under :D

The relatively small, skinny, 15 inch wheels probably help compared to modern huge flat ones.
-
Out of interest Justy Farr, and going on the assumption that both you and the car are genuine, what happened to the car to write it off and what damage was there? You seem to have known the lady very well so I assume she told you all the detail when it happened? Genuine question.

N313 JOT N313JOT I'm just adding in the car reg number so anyone who sees a future advert and maybe does a search for any history will come across this thread.

Good spot guys. I've no idea how the original poster would have expected to get away with that. Surely everyone does a basic HPI check before buying?

She's also digging out the wrong wheels. My neighbour and her son were digging out her 1 series last winter so I kindly grabbed my shovel and started on the rear wheels... they had been digging out the front wheels for some time, and he works in motorsport too :)

I assume that was someone on this site which is a damn cheek. At least the person offering 1k may possibly not have known its value. But someone on this site certainly would. They have deliberately just offered you less than half its value trying to rip you off. There are several part time dealers on here and its probably one of them.
-
That's a really nice gift to be given. Definitely don't sell for £1k as that's not only insulting but if the person known about the car then very cheeky. I'd say £5k is a little high myself. I'd put it at around £3.8k to maybe £4.5k myself, depending on whether you want a quick sale. Prices can also fluctuate depending on the time of year and right now isn't too good. It will pick up in spring. It is very low mileage with a good one owner history and in a very desirable colour. Blackberry is one of the best and most sought after. The only downside is a grey interior. Some people actively look for grey but it can put some people off too (my preference is black and cream and while I would have grey it would be my third choice). I'll compare it to some other cars to give an idea of value. Note that blues, blacks and blackberries are generally the most desirable colours, standard leather or recaro cloth more desirable than standard cloth, and leather recaros quite rare... Recent cars for sale: * Blackberry with black leather and around 95k miles - sold for about £3800 I think (not sure exact price but therabouts). * Moonlight blue with black cloth and around 80k miles - sold in Jun-ish for £3200. * Green with cream leather recaros and 92k miles (also one owner) - advertised on this site recently for £3000. * Aqua blue with black leather and 72k miles - advertised on auto trader right now for £3995. However, if I were given that car then I'd keep it. What a wonderful gift to receive. Might be interested if sold :) Oh, and look at getting it on a limited mileage classic car policy and it will be very cheap to insure :) And oh again... I'm jealous :D

ARZ Tuning do them but they are quite expensive to say the least. I don't know how close they are to the real thing but the pictures look good.
-
Yes, you get an HIP check through www.hpicheck.co.uk (a few pounds more expensive than most hpi checks though). Then you call Aviva with the reference number and they give you a car insurance quote. This is usually quite uncompetitive  but they give you 7 days free driveaway insurance for getting the quote. I'm sure they used to cover older cars but it seems they don't now. Should be fine for anything less than 10 years old though.
-
Just a heads up that Aviva no longer cover cars over 10 years old on their driveaway insurance.

Not all of that white stuff is, err, snow

I'm liking that. Looking forward to seeing them on the car :)

I'm interested in a new Alpine head unit and the three below come to mind. Does anyone have any views on which is the best? They can all be had for around the same money. I realise two can play CD's and this would be useful but really not essential: CDE-9880 CDE-111 IDE-X311 I don't have an iPod (I use a Sony mp3 player) and most of my music will be either on the radio or via a USB memory stick.
