1. Hard to beat a black Corrado. Very nice :)
2. I'm looking for some original black late door pods with grills but without damage or screw holes.. While I'm happy with my Audioscapes I try to make sure I have the spares to return to standard if necessary (my previous ones have screw holes in them).
3. If it's as good as it sounds, albeit from a short description, then it's worth seeing. It's s shame there aren't any pictures of the interior to confirm the unmarked interior (cloth interior I guess - when he says unmarked leather he appears to be referring to the gear knob, etc). When I was looking for mine I travelled all over the country until I finally bought mine also in Norfolk. Good luck with it.
4. I can't believe I haven't updated the thread in so many months. So a brief update: I finally fitted better speakers to the Audioscape door pods. I'm not entirely happy with the condition of the vinyl on the pods though. So I may get them retrimmed at some point. But the sound quality is now much better and I will probably remove the sub soon. I've never been a fan of them and although it does sound great with the sub, I want my boot space back! A couple of recent pictures of the car, taken at the Pistonheads Sunday Service at Silverstone today: As mentioned in the Pistonheads event thread, that last picture is Nigel Bridgeton who, along with Richard Dawson, were in the product marketing department at VW during the 90's. They influenced the trim and interiors that went on sale in the UK. I also love the way that in the first picture you can see how much modern cars have grown in size. The Corrado is small and nimble in comparison. After getting back home I had a few spare hours so replaced the oil and filter (142,188 miles): And while I had the car in the air I took the opportunity to swap the cracked front splitter with another that I bought a few months ago. It's a used item but in very good condition with no cracks at all. I wonder how long it will last though because I usually scrape it getting out of my road. I'd wanted to flush and renew the coolant and replace the plugs but I was running out of light so that will have to wait for another day. I think my next priority is to tidy up the front bodywork. So I will get a few quotes and start saving soon.
5. A few of my pics: And then we went to watch the cars in track for a while. The sound was fantastic: This is Nigel Bridgeton below who, along with Richard Dawson, worked in the product marketing department at VW at the time of the Corrado. So it was does to NIgel and Richard that apparently decided what trim levels, colours, etc, were to be sold in the UK. To answer your question Jim, no I didn't find out any information we didn't really know. He seemed pleased that there is still a following for the Corrado and confirmed that the cost and difficulty in introducing airbags was a big factor in the cars demise. Apparently around the same time there was a colour called Turkish Green (not on a Corrado I don't think) and the name came about because it was turquoise. In German that translated to Turkis or Turquis and someone mistakenly thought they meant Turkish and carried on using it.
6. The day before my birthday. I'll definitely be there :)
7. It could be the stalk but its equally likely to be the aftermarket wheel. When bought my car it had a momo wheel and boss and did the same as you describe. On the advice of someone here it turns out that the boss has to be fitted the right way up. If it doesn't then the indicator won't return correctly.
8. Enjoyable day. Great to meet everyone again. I will get my pics up later. Agree about the pot holes on the a43. They were terrible. Just arrived home after spending a bit of time watching the cars on the track. Shame it didn't warm up until later when people were leaving but it was a nice drive back in the sun. I got talking to someone who turned out to be one of the product managers for the Corrado (picture to follow) so that was an interesting chat.
9. Looks good. They all have a few niggles so really those issues are minor. I bet you're grinning from ear to ear.
10. Battery charged. Will be in the Corrado : thumbleft: ---------- Post added at 2:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:34 PM ---------- Battery charged. That's all it was. Will be in the Corrado although won't have time to clean it. : thumbleft:
11. I'm driving from south. But I will probably have the kids with me so can't guarantee what time I will be able to get them out of the door. So a convoy for me is tricky. Also currently have a problem with the Corrado not starting so not sure whether I will be there. I'm hoping its just a flat battery so will find out in the morning (put it on charge tonight).
12. I loved a moon roof in my old mk3. But personally I like keeping things standard do I would vote for repair the original.
13. I got petrol in my eye a free weeks ago. I can confirm that it stings like hell.
14. Thank you. Much appreciated. Dont know why I didnt spot that.
15. Don't worry they still have the last laugh with their faster reversing gear :)
16. I think the Krispy Kreme morning coffee/doughnut meet last year on the A3 worked quite well.
17. I've had a new fuel filter sitting in a box for a year so plan to fit it soon. Does anyone have a guide? Thanks.
18. Yup mine is Storm Grey rather than a Storm model. It's also not quite as good condition as it looks when you get closer :) In fact that's one of the nice things about it - it's tidy enough for me to be happy but as it's not immaculate I'm not distraught when I find a new mark on it :) ** MY Storm Grey car is 1994 and all Storm models are 95/96. So mine is the original and they are all trying to imitate mine
19. Occasional weekend warrior for me. I've probably done around 4k in it (maybe less) since I bought it nearly 2 years ago. I think it would drive me nuts in winter if it were a daily driver but as a weekend toy it is fantastic.
20. Headlight looms: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?41616-Uprated-Headlight-looms-for-2013 Don't get the cheap ebay ones.
21. Good point. Don't drive home in the pouring rain with standard wipers or at night with the standard headlight loom. Scary stuff :)
22. Congrats. I remember my first drive home. Exciting isn't it  Unless you're Nat West RBS last year and you make an OPC change :D
