  1. Echo what's being said about the handling. Not driven many Golfs, but compared my C to a mates Mk2 GTi about 6 years ago and there was no comparison on a twisty demanding road. As we flew through the first couple of corners in the C my mate simply shook his head and said the Golf would never have made it. I drive a Subaru Impreza now, but still have the C (G/F drives it) and I'd have to say, mid corner it's every bit as Quick as my Scoob. Doesn't stand a chance once I'm on boost at the apex though
  2. The 22B and the P1 are not technically the same motor. The 22B had a bespoke body which was seem welded for rigidity, not just a "body kit". That, and the 2.2l engine made it the most extreme Scooby ever, and only 14 of them were officially brought to the UK (1 at least of which was written off). The P1 was IM's (Subaru UK) answer to all the people importing STi6's from Japan because the UK spec cars weren't anywhere near as good, and is an STi6 tuned and enhanced by Prodrive. Although some of the Prodrive mods make it a little better than a 6, it ain't no 22B. The only car near either of these now is the independantly imported and tuned Type 25 from Litchfield Imports. 350bhp, 350ft/lb, 0-62 4.2, 2.5l with bespoke suspension by Powerstation for £34k  Expensive, but awsome.
  3. I've recently tried Meguiars and of all the liquid waxes I'd say so far it's the best I've used. Did a comparison patch with my old favorite though, and I still rate it as the best. Simoniz Original Carnuba. £5 a tin, which lasts 2-3 years of 2-3 waxes a year and beads water upto and beyond 6 months after application. It's a pig to put on, but it's always been well worth it IMHO The Meguiars gave just as good a shine, and was nearly as good at reticualting water, but it doesn't last like Simo. But then again, I can go over the whole car in 20 minutes with Meguiars, whereas Simo takes a good 3 hours, or 8 if I really go to town and do it twice including in the shuts.
  4. There used to be a guy called "Dan the Corrado Man" from Cut & Maple salvage advertised in the Trader many years ago based in the Suffolk area. Only place that springs to mind now is Smashing VW's in Leeds, 0113 2435635.
  5. I've never had any interest in so called "Cherished Plates" personally, but I've spotted a couple still available that might be worth a few quid more than their DVLA asking price if promoted in the right area. What's the best course of action? Can I put them on retention and then sell them, and if they don't sell can I get my retention money refunded? I don't want to part with £1000 on a couple of numbers and then be left with them. Any advise greatly appreciated.
  6. Turtle Wax CD2 from Halfords is superb. Very easy too, and on 2 for 1 offer at the mo' Example
  7. For a good deal on OZ, go to Halfords. They have 20% off all alloys at the mo'. I was offered a set of 18" Legerras for £1050 for the Scoob and even the main importer where I normally get my wheels and who supplies Halfords couldn't beat the price.
  8. My G/F Helen..... ......now drives my old C...... ......'cos I now drive this.....
  9. I quite like rain. But then again, I've got a Scooby now :D mmmm, 4WD ;) On a serious note. If your cars well waxed, just go over it with a bucket of cold water and a soft sponge while it's soaking with rain. Takes about 5 minutes, no need to leather off as it's probably stilll raining. All the muck is soft and suspended in the rain water and comes off instantly. I do both the C and the Scoob almost daily in this weather and they both look excellent for it. Especially the C being 12 years old, looks stunning for its age.
  10. Cheers guys. I really am a dog with 2 d!cks. I'm so glad the g/f agreed to keep the C, as I still love her dearly (the g/f as well ;) LOL) and the Scoob certainly hasn't got as much style but OMG  the performance. It's a Prodrived version with 265BHP and 348Nm of torque. It seems like all the other cars on the road have come out without their engines. Overtaking no longer requires thought, consideration and hesitation as you go by in a blink. It's taken me 6 years to realise this dream, I've had the C 9 years, and I intend to enjoy it to the full. I picked it up wednesday and was at my 1st meet thursday, with another on monday (meet slag :D) If you've never driven one, beg, steal (OK maybe not steal ;)) blag yourself a go and you'll be instantly hooked. I drove one at Rallydrive first and was immediately smitten. Houses and income somewhat hindered my progress, but boy was it worth the wait. Anyway, I'm off out for another blast. CU later. Dave. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
  11. Just thought I'd gloat a little. Picked up my new car on wednesday, so I'm no longer a true Corrado owner. My old 16V is still in the family though as my girlfriend has adopted her. The end of a happy (well, most of the time) 9 years :(, and the start of Scooby ownership :D If anyone wants a nosey I've gat a few pics here
  12. Leeds - Dark grey G60 (I think) behind me on Butt Lane, Farnley. You went the other way and we saw each other again at the Woodcock lights. I was in my new blue (what other colour?) Scoob.
  13. Shiny. I have a real problem with dark coloured wheels, especially black, urgh! Looks like you've lost the trims off your steel wheels. My cars met silver/grey so the grey wheels would blend in too much. Bling bling silver for me. :D
  14. RobyD - Can't really say as I haven't had 15's on for 2 years. I didn't notice much difference at the time with the old 17's, but as my post says, the Superleggeras are much better. If I'd gone for them from the start I dare say I'd have been thrilled (and better off).
  15. I moved from 15 to 17 about 2 years ago. The 1st 17's I put on were Fox 6 and I found them quite disappointing. They buckled very easily and I saw no improvement in handling. If anything it was worse due to the lower profile rubber and minimised wall movement. The 2 fronts buckled within a week with pot-holes and I switched them to the back, then on Xmas Eve on a spirited drive along the Hardknott Pass I severely buckled a 3rd. Enough was enough and in the New Year I bought some OZ Superleggera's. The difference is amazing. The Legs are very light (7.9kg to 14.6kg for the Fox) and the car seems more alive. The suspension seems to work better and acceleration and braking is improved. I thought it might be placebo so I got the G/F to try it out and didn't tell her what I was expecting, and she confirmed it. I think the Superturismo is due to be upgraded to the same spec alloy soon too (called the SuperT GT).
  16. I think the lights are OK, the grille lets it down IMHO.
  17. ........has a Corrado-ish look about it? ****mod edit***** pics thumbnailed-vr6storm The swooping shoulder line, the bullish front end, the slabby sides, the chunky flipped up butt ? If they can make it go, handle and be reliable, I'd consider it. It's a Hyundai by the way!

  21. Liverpool Victoria for me. 34yo - '91J 16V C - 9+NCD - 0pts - Leeds postcode £406 F/C Protected. Although the legal disclaimer on their site states "no mods", they do cover all mods except capacity increases, and don't care about security devices or where it's kept (garage/drive/road). Top company.
