  4. Got home tonight and it's struggling to start again ! I really am at a loss now to why this is happening . I can't see how it's the fuel return valve if I had left it for a day and it started first turn of the key ? And it was ideling at 1000 rpm like it used to .I would have thought any fuel that was in the system would have not been present if the valve was not working and it would not start . Yet tonight as said its not starting . Chris Langers put it on the vagcom last night and no faults came up at all .Chris said to change the filter again and mabey the injectors. I have been out again tonight one turn of the key and its spluttering , two minutes later it fires !Any more ideas ??? Thanks Rob
  5. Well, thanks to chris langers who came round tonight and plugged in the vagcom . No faults came up at all . I then started the car , it ran higher when warming up as it should do and then dropped to normal idle . I like to put answers to any problems i have on here for future refrence for other people using the search ,but i dont have an answer to what was wrong it just seems to have sorted itself out . Fingers crossed that i when i start it tomorrow it will still be running fine .
  6. No affence meant mate , there are no copy's of the manual and any talk of copies could get the forum into trouble that's all , I think it happend a while back and the forum had a little warning ? Vr6 will correct me if I'm wrong though .
  7. Sad really , this seems to happen a lot at shows , these people are sposed to be like minded dubbers . If you need something for your car , you should buy it !!
  8. As already said they make it up as they go along really ! Two years ago my car was in a locked garage in a nice area . It's now on a drive in an nice area , with no difference in price !

  10. £235.00 thats cheap sean , how old are you if you dont mind me asking . Im 43 this year and always insure with performance direct , no-one ive ever tried gets near the £300 i pay . Thats a classic ins policy , 2000 miles and an agreed value of 5k . Rob
  11. As above , just bring the mileage down to the lowest they can insure you for . Not only that , but happens if you leave it uninsured for a while and something happens to it ?
  12. Thanks Hatton , and to Sean . I thought it was the return valve as I said in previous posts . I've got a vagcom check next week and will check the fuel pressure . I do have a Bentley manual and have looked at the section about the pressure testing . Still concerned about the revs jumping around and the cold start problems with it not reving higher for warm up , weather these are related to the fuel problem I don't know . Hope to solve it soon . Many thanks Rob Edit . Forgot to say I have another pump fitted now as I thought the return valve might be not working my old one .
  13. Maybe it's because I've always had vans ! . But when I get in my Vr it still shocks me at how fast you are going in a very short time . My mrs brother came to ours a while back and let me drive his rs5 , yes it was the quickest car I've ever driven (remember I've only had vans and driven a few mates cars ) but after that we went for a spin in the Vr , his response was "Jesus it's fast !". I don't tend to rag the Vr that much , a quick blast on the straight and I'm happy . It does annoy me when you get Saxos and other boys cars up your arse trying it on , you just think "read the badge on the back you knob , VR6 !!".As if you are going to get any where near it .
  14. Started the car this morning and the revs are jumping up and down again , I will get to the bottom of this ! .
  15. I will try it again tomorrow when I'm with the mechanic testing the fuel pressure . Unless I'm unlucky I'm sure it's not the isv as I have cleaned mine , then got one off a mate , cleaned that before refitting and it's still the same , but I could be wrong ! . I can't get it hooked up to the vagcom till next week , so I'm still in the dark with an electrical fault . Rob
  16. Hi Sean , just unplugged it and it made no difference . In taking the black cover off to get to it ,two ht leads came out with it ,so they were not put on tight enough . The car started first time , but still no higher warm up revs . The leads being loose were not helping matters but i dont think its the answer im looking for . Will try starting it tomorrow morning . Hope you get yours sorted , i will keep you up to date and swop notes as we may help each other out . Rob
  17. Then two hours later , I go to start it and its struggling again ! I need a vagcom check !! .
  18. Well , today I took the fuel pipe off . I then turned on the ignition to prime the system and fuel came out . I then cranked the engine with the pipe of and it came out at a rapid rate . Im doing a pressure test on it tomorrow to see what that throws up . I had left the car for an hour and then went to start it and it fired first time , again in the morning , after standing all night it fired first time and when I got back from work tonight . All we did was remove the pipe from the rail crank it and put it back on . Air in the system maybe ? I don't know ,but it seems to have solved it . Rob
  19. Need to get my car on a vagcom I think . If it is the blue sender that's playing up , yeah it's no big deal to replace it but its only done 1500 miles .

  22. Someone will correct me if im wrong . But as far as im aware yes your right ,mk1's and two's and editions came with black vw badges .
  23. Once i get her started ,the car runs fine , ticks over fine . I have checked the hoses and found a hole in the large pipe that goes from the throttle body to the maf . Ive sorted this ,as before i spotted it ,when i did get it started the revs were bouncing all over the shop and it would not settle and tick over properly . Now its better . Still have the situation of the car not idleing fast on start up though .Thanks for the vagcom offer mate . Rob
