Was in Birmingham city centre last night actually.. it's certainly distinctive, and if I see it, I'll be sure to report it. -
Please Help Vr6 turbo or Vr6 supercharged Views
Jim replied to hutchison1985's topic in General Car Chat
Honestly having driven and passengered in both applications, I think the only reason you'd go for a basic supercharger installation over a basic turbo installation is down to how much you can afford to spend. Turbo is just much, much better suited to the VR, but seems to cost about 2-3x as much for a 'stage 1' type installation. As others have said here, you are not getting anywhere near a turbo install for 2k sadly - they're well into the 5-6k bracket. -
Does depend which TPS you go to, Miles.. I ordered a bunch of stuff from the TPS in Coventry before christmas, and there was no mention of needing an account. I even queried it and the guy seemed surprised and said that the public were welcome to come in and order over the counter. This wasn't just a VW dealers either - it was a separate building entirely, signed as TPS / Trade Parts Specialists :)

Meh - well a thumbs up for me from the headlight protectors. I don't really notice them on the car, and judging by a few cracks in my old set, they've saved me from having to buy a few new headlight lenses.

Edd & Mike were speaking the truth then! :)

Heh... well I can tell you for a fact their four wheel alignment rig was working up until March/April time - they were doing a wheel alignment on my friends MK2 Scirocco which still had winter tyres fitted, and unfortunately one of the alignment lasers slipped off the tyre due to the different tread pattern and smashed. The units are extremely expensive and Vince was pretty gutted as it is a big outlay to get one replaced. So it's been out of action since then..

How did I miss out on this? Could I please get my name down for a kit? Would quite like OE colours with red / blue for the temperature dial but happy with just OE colours for the whole panel.

I have Bilstein B4 dampers, KW springs and uprated front and rear ARB's... the combination does not work well at all. Shock absorption on anything more than a small bump or pothole is quite crashy but the worst (and strangest) characteristic is bouncyness so possibly something to do with rebound (I must admit I don't know anything technical about suspension).. uneven road surfaces that previous Corrado's of mine have dealt with fine, seem to make this suspension setup bounce the car up and down to the points where I almost thought I was going to leave the road when I went over it a bit fast once! The springs and dampers really do not match / suit each other at all.

Aye - repost. Will lock this one up :)

Yep - available new from classic parts. £60/70 a wheel I think :)

Having owned an Octavia, and driven a modern Superb recently, I'd highly recommend a Skoda - it does seem, incredibly, that people are still snobbish about the badge, but honestly if you drive one you'll see how good they are. Well worth a look!

Welcome aboard :) A 40-50mm drop is about what you want really for pain free, every day motoring. Any lower and it can start to be a bit of a challenge sometimes :)

Interesting quick google find of the day.. http://scch-heads.com/viewpart.php?id=26 In fact they do a range of fascinating suspension upgrades for the Corrado.. http://scch-heads.com/displayparts.php?makeID=3&modelID=18

Late 16v crossmember and VR6 crossmember compatibility?
Jim replied to easypops's topic in Engine Bay
Good find... substantially different! Way more than I expected in fact. -
Be interested to know what the cost is! And how you get on with them of course :)

Bit of a generalisation there Kev! I think folks want the ride height correct, and I guess for a lot of people who aren't using their Corrado's as daily drivers, the ride comfort can be sacrificed a little if they're only doing a couple of thousand miles a year. If anything I'd say in recent years, Corrado owners seem to be leaning more towards the camp of 'doing things right' and proper jobs on repair and maintenance work, and buying good quality components. The days of people chatting about £200 coilover kits seem to have gone away to some extent. Personally speaking, ride comfort has become a real bug bear of mine and something I'm determined to find a good compromise with on my car as my current setup is abysmal.

Infuriatingly cheap on this US website.. http://www.truckspring.com/products/Bilstein-B12-Pro-Suspension-Kit-46-190109__46-190109.aspx

Think I prefer your Corrado to the other two - looks superb. Do you and your mates rent an industrial unit?
-
I smell a group buy... ;) I think Gloster Ox runs this kit on his Corrado, on 16" alloys and the drop is perfect :)

£714 quid on Awesome GTI for the Bilstein B12 kit... man suspension is expensive :|

I know OCD (Only Charged Dubs) do charger rebuilds but not sure if they do engine rebuild kits. Other guys I'd recommend talking to would be Stealth Racing or DG Autotech.

Could you go back and question it with the garage, and explain that?
