  1. Cobra do seem very decent. A few folks also seem to swear on Toad alarms - I know a few folks with them and they never seem to run into problems with false alarms, etc. I *think* I've got an Autowatch on my VR6 currently (though would have to check the paperwork) and that's been very reliable.
  2. Didn't really feel the Corrado was classic enough, so just walked to work today! :) Plus it needs a wash ;)
  3. Cheers for the positive feedback folks. Just hope the prototypes fit :) Will keep you all posted.
  4. Great company to deal with and great prizes in their competitions! What more could you ask for.
  5. OK - bit of an update. Hope this will please some folks. Went back to the part remanufacturers with some ideas on improving the design of the clip. Let me show you some screenshots and I will explain the reasoning behind the tweaks. I'm interested to hear what people will feel! So for those that know anything about the design of these, they are completely flush on the front (which makes them hard to remove from the surround when you need to remove them!) and also the clips / legs on the back are very thin and prone to breaking because of the amount of force required to remove them. Our design has tweaked them to: * Add a small hole / cut out on the front which will mean you can insert a small screwdriver into them and remove them a bit easier, rather than prising them out against your dash plastic. * Revised the design on the rear to make the 'protrusion' on the legs / clips a little more shallow but then extended the plastic the whole way round between the legs meaning that the whole thing should be a lot more solid and be more inclined to stay in the hole regardless of whether the little lips on the clips are present. I've said I'm very keen on the design and will hopefully get sent another prototype pair to test soon. Pictures / thoughts to come whenever they do. Are folks interested in these tweaked versions of the design? I know it's a tiny part but this feels very OEM+ to me :)

  7. Be interested to know what a new throttle cable costs from VW if you happen to go and enquire EJ Taylor - a few people that have driven my VR remarked that the throttle cable was very stiff and I kept meaning to go see about ordering a new one.

    Wheel bearings ?

Had the exact same thing on my car several months back. Took it to DG Autotech for new wheel bearings, and after a check it was evident they were fine and that the tyres had worn in a certain way to cause very wheel-bearing like noise. New tyres, and it's much better again.
  9. The button on the top right of the forum - Classifieds...... :)

    50mm splitter

Really? Shows as In Stock on VW Classic Parts online shop?

    50mm splitter

Available from Heritage / Classic Parts for a fairly reasonable price :)
  12. Maybe something to do with this? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/consumertips/jessicainvestigates/10385330/Mobile-phone-delivery-scam-on-the-rise.html
  13. If that is indeed the original VAG / dealer fit alarm system, if you don't have original fobs for it, you're out of luck. I spoke to various people including VW and the original manufacturer about coding new fobs for my 2.0 16v which had the original system and they were all absolutely hopeless - basically would need equipment to recode the fobs that they've all long since thrown away :(
  14. One side was always available but for some reason the other wasn't. Then VW Classic Parts made it available again, for whatever reason.
  15. Hehe.. thanks, Baz :) Guys - we get complaints if we leave the For Sale system alone, and complaints every time we change it. Of course we'll always take complaints on-board but I simply refuse to believe it's that difficult to use. In fact I'm tempted to find some Corrado parts knocking around the house this evening to list for sale just so I can try it for myself. As Andi already pointed out in the other thread, this system will at least integrate some buyer & seller protection into things with an Escrow system. As far as I'm concerned, if that means a few people find the system a little harder to use, it's a price worth paying. One thing I am surprised about though is how many people seem to use Tapatalk. I really didn't expect there to be so many folks using it.
  16. Cool - I figured something similar! Cheers :)
  17. Bit of a gremlin for me too, Andi. Tells me I have 5 threads needing approving, but when I click into it to see them, there are none which need approving. I logged out and in again but no difference... any thoughts?
  18. Difference is for cars like the Mustang and Charger, they saw screen time in iconic movies (Bullit, for example) which helped secure their legend status. Seems anything that McQueen touched is mega valuable now. Look up the Rolex Daytona he used to wear as another example! As much as I wish the Corrado was worth more, not every old car becomes quite so desirable. We can only hope.
  19. Being a car enthusiast, I do find it quite interesting when I get to try new technologies in cars. This weekend I was in Germany and my hire car turned out to be a Volvo XC60. Aside from liking the car quite a lot (diesel, automatic, electric everything.. I really am an old man!!) it had radar guided cruise control which was a new one on me. Essentially you could programme whatever speed you wanted as per any cruise control system, but then it would monitor what the traffic was doing in front of you and basically keep pace with whatever car you were following. They speed up, you speed up. They slow down, you slow down. It even worked in town and would actually bring you down to a controlled stop at traffic lights (again, assuming you were behind another car). Then when it was time to set off, you dab the throttle once to wake it up and away it goes. You also had a few buttons which would allow you to control how much of a gap you left, so it wasn't just a fixed distance and it seemed to be smarter in town in terms of keeping a little closer anyway. It was quite spooky, but was amazing how quickly I got used to it - and I really liked it. I guess there will be those that say "I prefer to DRIVE my car, and not let some computer do it" and I agree to some extent.. but it's nice to have the choice I guess. Did need one or two tweeks.. if the car you were following turned off at a junction, and you were planning to follow them, the car in front would leave the road before you did - at which point the radar cruise would say "Ok.. road is clear.. accelerate" - right at the point you were going to turn the wheel to take the corner :) So definitely required you to deactivate the system at that point. It's kind of funny as probably like a few people on here, whilst I've owned a few newer cars, I've spent the majority of my driving "career" behind the wheel of a Corrado. You get very used to the lack of creature comforts and toys such that ANY gadgets fitted to cars are a novelty. Expensive modern stuff is increasingly starting to feel like something from the FUTURE compared to the Corrado! :)
  20. That is a tad disappointing! To be fair to them, they tend to leave most of the cars they touch fairly original so can forgive them for the occasional lapse in judgement!
  21. Yeah - that's the one that went on mine. It's the high pressure one and is definitely a bit easier to reach than the one on the right :)
  22. Yes. Do you have some more information please on what's been done to it, price, etc. Thanks :)
  23. Good luck getting it back mate :( Really didn't think the Corrado was desirable enough to go to any lengths to steal any more, especially if it involved getting it onto a low loader.
