  1. What always gets me is how low they look compared to other cars, even when they're only lowered a little bit! Quite often can't see the roof in any car park because other cars are so tall in comparison :)
  2. I think perhaps when we know the circumstances around what happened (and therefore if there is a suitable charity we could donate to) someone would be happy to set it up.. I know I would be more than happy to organise such a collection. Alternatively I could suggest, as something a bit leftfield, and knowing that Chris used to work on Vulcan Bombers, that we could donate to the Vulcan To The Skies fund - though not sure if everyone would quite have the same feelings about that, as say someone like Macmillan Cancer or similar.
  3. Should be there Wendy :) Could drive to yours and then take the back lanes the rest of the way?
  4. Maybe they could be made slightly oversized, and then done with that process that's like powdercoating but a more rubbery finish?
  5. Oh my god - I'm absolutely mortified to hear this :( I wouldn't say I was a good friend of Chris's but used to make a point of chatting to him at shows whenever I saw him. He was a font of knowledge for all things Corrado and Scirocco, and a very nice guy. This is a terrible loss for the community. And 53 is no age at all. Absolutely terrible news :(
  6. This has to be a wind up.. :|
  7. Welcome to the forum! Just be sure to take your time and find one thats been looked after! :)
  8. You never rang the other day when you said you would either! *slap* :)
  9. Dude - just drop the webmaster an email off the front page of the site to sort out a login / details! :)
  10. I've got a late 80's / early 90's Speedmaster Professional (with the hand wound Cal. 861 movement) and recently acquired a 1952 Seamaster Automatic with a 'bumper' automatic movement.. it's been away with my watchmaker for the last 6 weeks going through a complete restoration and should hopefully get it back in the next week or so - can't wait!
  11. And good luck with getting a Tag serviced here in the UK through official channels - they have legendarily bad customer service it seems. Rolex may be the Apple of the watch world in many respects, but along with that comes very good customer service. I'm more of an Omega guy personally even though I've only managed to afford to buy two! :) I wouldn't say no to certain Rolex's though - a nice basic Submariner or Sea-Dweller would do me. Way too pricey for me though :(
  12. To each his own.. seem to be a few watch enthusiasts on here :) I feel naked when I don't have one on.
  13. You can't really talk about Rolex and good taste in the same sentence though really Steve. They do make some nice watches, but they make some complete and utter gash as well... like the Skydweller. Nice movement, but housed in an utter abomination of a case!
  14. Drop Dominic @ HackettWatches.com a line.. he's very very well reputed and well established on the PistonHeads watch subforum with many happy customers. He can source new or old stock. A look at his website should show you the kind of stuff he stocks normally.
  15. Ah! Sunny Hunny! :) My folks live there and I'm up there quite a few times a year.. was the Corrado you saw decked out with some er.. modifications? If so I've seen that one around up there before.. there seems to be quite a few round there actually!
  16. I'm sure you could easily clear a run of 50, and that's before you looked to sell some to the VW Vortex lot over in the States :)
  17. Great read - always in admiration for those amongst us who can get stuck in and do these sorts of jobs! The V5 is a nice engine but I was always a little confused by it.. a friend had one in a MK4 Golf too and it sounded great but the fuel economy was pretty poor and it didn't have the performance of the VR6.. I can only guess it's because the MK4 is so much heavier?
  18. I think there are some dealers out there who see a list of a few nuts and bolts and simply can't be bothered - they don't seem to have any ability to understand that enthusiasts like us spread word of mouth about helpful dealers, and that you might saunter back in there one day and put down an order for a few hundred pounds of parts one day. Thankfully my local VW dealership (Listers in Coventry) are an absolutely awesome bunch of guys and no list of nuts or bolts is too much trouble :) Definitely drop VW UK a line and let them know about the useless ones.

Why are you bumping a two year old thread to advertise parts? Please don't do that.
  20. Bollocks.. I'm on holiday that week.. would have been nice to come along as a spectator rather than organiser of one of these, for once. Nevermind - hope it goes well :)
