Hi Tim.. apologies if I've asked this before but if I was to insure my primary / daily car with you (which is up for renewal very soon), my Corrado would then need insurance renewing a little later down the line - do you do any sort of second car, or no claims bonus matching scheme of any kind? Fed up of having to keep changing insurers and having to do it with two cars.. if I could just get both cars insured on one policy I'd be a happy man!

Would love to hear Yan's take on this just out of my own curiosity as he's pretty knowledgable about this kind of stuff and does have an arsenal of old VW tech documentation and manuals to hand.

I'm just going on all the stuff I'd heard / read on here over the years. Googling around seems to be a lot of posts which suggest the boost return does help lubricate the charger, so I'm not alone in that train of thought. For example: http://forums.speedarena.com/showthread.php?5927908-G60-boost-return&p=80330745

Yeah all you can do is kick a bit harder :( Keep booting the base of the wheel and keep rotating it round and hopefully it'll work free eventually!

Various interesting Parts G60, 16V, Syncro etc ...........
Jim replied to G60 CS's topic in Parts for Sale
Some pictures of some of the bits sent to me by G60 CS.. -
Been a while since I owned my G60 but sure thing - be good to see how it drives!
-
Well the Corrado G60 has a tiny intercooler that sits down the front of the wing - it looks like a shoebox! The Golf G60 had a much larger front mounted intercooler that sat between the radiator and the grille. It's way more efficient, doesn't suffer heatsoak as badly, etc etc. Problem is trying to find one and they're not cheap :) But as I say my car had the Golf G60 intercooler, 68mm pulley, remap and 3.5bar fuel pressure regulator and was a consistent 207BHP/187lbft. Went very nicely :) In terms of remaps, try talking to Stealth Racing or DG Autotech!
-
Just knowing how much a replacement charger is, modifications like that make me very sceptical. I'd risk a slightly smaller pulley but beyond that I'd leave it alone - leave the standard airbox, standard paper filter, and concentrate on other modifications like remap and bigger intercooler. My old G60 put out a solid 207BHP with just those modifications :)

Chris Langdon's Moonlight Blue VR6 thread!!!
Jim replied to Chris Langdon's topic in Members Gallery
To be fair Chris, I'd say (having seen your Corrado) it has to be in one of the few percent in the country in terms of overall condition - despite these little blemishes you know about, I was very impressed when I saw it in the metal - it's an absolute beauty. Anyway - hope you're well mate. Be good to have a look around your MK2 at some point :) -
Then I think the problem with doing this mod is that it's eliminating the chargers self lubrication system, as the returned boost contains a little oil vapour which helps keep the charger lubricated. Without it you have to manually lubricate the charger every month or so (I think). Personally I wouldn't go near it - a pointless modification really. I'd honestly look into sensible performance modifications but leave stuff like that well alone. Just my 2p :)

Is this the boost return deletion or a different thing?

Cheers :)

Well done Michael - glad someone was there representin' for the Corrados ;)

Please could you list some prices for some of the bigger items, such as those you mentioned in your post.
-
I think they may be available through VW Classic Parts... :)

Excellent. Welcome to the forum! And pictures of the car when you're ready ;)

Think I've just been going to these things for too long - I'm glad it was a good show though and you got your moneys worth!

Confirmation for me that my interest in VW shows is long, long gone. I drove up with Tempest and a few others yesterday to drop cars off and give them a taxi ride back home. I stood watching cars queueing to get in, and checked out some of the cars being washed out in the car park... honestly nothing interested me about any of them (aside from a few tidy original Golfs, Scirocco's, etc). Was also trying to work out why a number of BMW's were heading into the show hall. Is the show now a more generic German car show?! Honestly I couldn't wait to get out. Honestly I couldn't wait to get out. Maybe I'm just getting old or something :(

LOL - speak for youself mate :)

February's is particularly fine ;) I mean the car, not the horse :)
-
Really sorry to hear that :( Hope you can get it back on the road with the minimum of expense and hassle! :(

I'm pretty sure the R8 doesn't use cheap wire mesh in the front grille. What a total horror show!!
