  1. Mileage doesn't really mean much to be honest... warping can occur for a number of reasons like manufacturing defect, or washing the wheels when the discs are still very hot from being driven. Keep us posted!
  2. Give Footman James a call mate.. I'm insuring my car in a lockup garage away from home, 3000 miles a year (though think I'm going to need to up that to at least 5000 soon), mods declared and I'm paying under £300 a year...
  3. Have given it a think but owing to a few jobs needing doing on the VR, the cost of the petrol, an already busy / expensive month and lots of expense in the run up to christmas, I think I'm gonna pass Andy - but hopefully make one next year! :)
  4. Ok Dave.. keep us posted! I may have to end up getting a plastic one soonish by the looks of things :(
  5. I know I always wheel these out (guffaw) but always thought they were a great match for the Corrado:
  6. As a test, does the speed of the pulsing coming back through the pedal vary depending on what speed you're doing? So if you brake from say 60MPH is it faster than say braking at 15MPH? If the speed of the pulsing is much slower at low speed then I would say warped discs..
  7. I'm guessing regarding idle speed you mean it sits between 500-1000RPM? :) The VR6 should sit at around 650RPM at idle once warmed up - and a bit higher than that when it's cold. The VR engine is known to feel ever so slightly rough at idle but looking at the needle on the gauge, it should not fluctuate - it should sit pretty steady. If it's bouncing around or higher than what I've said then it's not right. Regarding braking, again sounds like something isn't right there. I've only ever felt ABS on my Corrado's on icy roads and when literally STANDING on the brakes in wet conditions... so very, very rarely. My feeling is not that it's your ABS kicking in, but rather that you might have warped brake discs causing the same sensation as ABS (feeling the brake pedal fighting back) - might be worth getting it checked out.
  8. Hi Dave.. are you planning to produce these? The pinhole leak on my rad neck is getting worse.. gonna need to do something about it soon :(
  9. Could still be a duff coolant sensor though especially if they used a GSF part. I don't want to get into that whole debate again but not uncommon at all for non-genuine sensors to either not last long, or be crap from day one..
  10. From the subject I was going to say the classic VR6 immobiliser fault, but reading the post it doesn't sound like that at all. I think my next guess would be the coolant temperature sensor. Presumably once the car is actually running and up to temperature it's ok? Does it return poor fuel economy?

    Over reving

You'd need to change the throttle cable! Might be worth as a start spraying a little WD40 into the throttle linkage on the throttle body and a bit on the end of the cable and see if it helps at all.. then you really need to replace the cable.
  12. Hi Baz.. will be looking to send out info on payment shortly (next few days) but if you're strapped you're welcome to just hold off and come and pay on the day or something mate.. Added :)

    Over reving

Could be as simple as the throttle cable sticking - I had this same problem with my G60 some years back...
  14. I do sort of see you as Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino, Kev... scowling at youths as they walk past your house... ;)
  15. It's weird - seems to have been a lot of this suddenly in the last few weeks, judging on the comments made on a few other car forums I frequent! Scumbags - hope you manage to get it sorted with the minimal amount of financial outlay!
  16. Cheaper option is to just buy a moonroof assembly and swap the whole thing over.. apparently not that hard to do!
  17. I do wish I had more power but have found it's just changed my driving style to an extent. I just accept that the car doesn't have performance, so there's no point in getting into little races with people or trying to prove a point.. Don't get me wrong, I love the performance in the Corrado and when I get back in that I do enjoy stretching it's legs - but just with petrol prices like they are and stuff, got fed up of lining the governments pockets just to try and one-up people in quick cars. And no matter what you spend, someone always has something quicker than you! I much prefer big, wafting German barges (as you say, like the 5 series) but again thought for what I wanted to spend, I wanted (nearly) new and warrantied. In a few years though when the Fiat is out of warranty, it's very likely I'll sell it and get something silly again :) And no - I didn't test drive anything else. I decided in my mind I liked the 500, and frankly there was no other small car I was remotely interested in.. and after a test drive of the Fiat I was happy it was comfortable, and not a dangerously slow on the motorway as I'd been lead to believe - so decided to go for one.
  18. I don't want to tempt fate but I think the Corrado is fairly secure... it's in a lockup which is in an alleyway which backs onto a load of houses near where I used to live - but the benefit is that the alley way is secured by big gates, that only people who live in the houses have keys to. So massively unlikely that the car will ever get stolen in it's entirety but possible the garage could get broken into and bits robbed.. but in the event someone does break in to the garage, it can really only be people who live there - not randomers / passers by. Certainly in all the years I lived there, we never had any problems - and that was even before the big gates were put up about 10+ years ago... You're right about the daily getting boring - though I tend to get that with anything I drive. I'm really crap at "routine" and just sticking to anything - be it cars, or anything else. But I keep telling myself that 50MPG, cheap insurance, a warranty and cheap tax are a good thing and at least the common sense side of things is fighting through!
  19. Really is one of those jobs you should try and sort yourself purely because of the labour involved... it gets seriously expensive and no company will have experience of fixing Corrado sunroofs so they're just as likely to screw it up as anyone else!
  20. Shouldn't need to do an ECU reset when replacing the ISV... definitely get it sent back mate!
  21. My car seems to enjoy eating coilpacks. I was already onto my second coilpack (which Kev very kindly fitted for me) but came to take the car for a bit of a spin this evening when I noticed a clicking coming from the engine bay. I also noticed that the car sounded like it was misfiring slightly so I popped the bonnet and could hear the clicking coming from around the coilpack.. however I didn't expect to actually see SPARKS - I was so impressed I captured a quick video clip: By sheer good luck, I'd been offered a new old stock VR coilpack by my local VW dealer for about £25 about 3 months ago. I don't normally buy and stockpile parts but this seemed like such a good deal, I thought I should bag it. 15 minutes later, new coilpack on and the car was back to normal again :) Haven't been using the VR much now that I have a new, comfortable daily.. but I took it out this evening and opened it up a bit on the quiet roads and remembered just why I enjoyed it so much. So low compared to the Fiat, so reassuring and of course unbelievably fast compared to the piddling 69BHP in the Fiat! Love it. Absolutely love it :)
  22. Another well loved example... :|
