So??? Update??? :)
-
Don't recall mate.. I just went through to the customer service line and spoke to whoever picked up. Bear in mind I'm dropping from a group 18 car down to something like a group 4 so I'd hope my premium would tumble ;) To be clear this is to insure my NEW car.. the VR is going onto a policy with Footman James!

Seems a pretty good price for the head refurb and clutch & chains from Stealth IMHO. They've been doing VR6's for years now and arguably know them as well as anyone else out there! And just for an alternative perspective.. I'd always keep the original 12v VR6 in my motor. I think it's a real shame to rip out the engine that was designed for the car and stick in something else, even if it is just a later derivation of the same unit. If / when mine gives up the ghost, it'll just be another original 2.9 VR6 that goes back in!

I'm about to change my VR from a daily back to a weekend car and am in the process of sorting out my new car. My original plan was to cancel my Chris Knott policy as I figured as more of a specialist insurer, they'd never be able to compete with more mainstream companies for insurance on normal daily cars. Called up Chris Knott last night and spoke to a really helpful guy who not only quoted me a price that was on a par with the best I'd had from price comparison sites (which I didn't expect), but also told me I'd get a fairly hefty refund as it was much cheaper than I'm paying on the VR and in effect, I've overpaid on my policy. I do get irked with insurance in this country but I have to say I was very pleased with the quote and nothing seems to be too much trouble for CK.. they even said they'd scan and email or fax my insurance certificate to me at short notice for when I go and collect my car tomorrow. It's much appreciated! I'm happy to remain a customer!

I'm sure they'd suit the Corrado chassis beautifully but I suppose there are technical limitations to overcome (wiring, immobilisers) and cost of sourcing such engines..

Assuming the rear spoiler mechanism (£15) is all nice and smooth and working well would be interested in that please? Would need it posting :) Please PM me payment details. Cheers. -
Sorry to crash the thread but YGPM, Tom!

Very nice indeed mate! Looks like you're making some good progress in making this car your own. Really like to see a G60 on Sebrings :) The only thing I'd be thinking about is ditching that cone filter for a standard airbox. General consensus on the G60 is that the cone filters don't filter air anywhere near as well as the standard airbox, and because more debris can get through, it contributes to premature wear of the internals of the charger - which can lead to the charger grenading itself :(

Mk1 Audi TT wipers are significantly better than the Lupo ones so well worth looking into :)

Great news mate :) Look forward to seeing what she says! -
Yep.. OZ Superleggera's :)
-
No interest in those for me personally mate, and certainly not yet. Gonna see how / if the headlight thing goes first and can look to branching out after if there is demand :) ---------- Post added at 03:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:20 PM ---------- Hm. I didn't even think to look - I thought they'd stopped making them. No point in going through the grief if someone is already making them so I'll lock this up!!! :)
-
Bill :( I'm so sorry to hear you're having to do this and I hope that whatever the personal circumstances are, they can be turned around in the future so that you can come back to ownership. I hope for your sake you get a quick and easy sale :(
-
I'll grab a picture of the ones on my car before I head home this evening so you've got an idea of what I'm talking about :) These are hard plastic protectors that clip over the headlight lenses. Judging by the marks in mine, they've saved my headlights at least twice!
-
A while back, a chap on here (shawshankkid) did a group buy on some excellent headlight protectors. They were done in the style of the original ones and simply clipped over the headlights. Unfortunately I believe the guy who originally produced these can't / won't do any more so the supply has dried up and annoyingly one of mine broke this weekend :( Just wondering what the demand would be if I looked around for a good plastics company to manufacture some of these? I'd want them to cost no more than £30 a set ideally and would only be looking for basic / clear protectors initially.. not coloured / tinted. If there is enough interest I'd be happy to start looking around for suitable companies.

Thought you'd vanished dr_mat - glad to see you're still around! Amusingly mine got called a Scirocco today - but it was whilst a work colleague was complimenting me on the car so whilst I did correct him, I did so politely ;)

Park the car and give yourself a few days to think it over before making any rash decisions! Easy to get "caught in the moment" when it does something to screw you over like this!
-
Depends what I wanted I suppose. I think there are several types of VR6 I'd like! * VR6 Turbo - with Racelogic T/C and an LSD to help with controlling the beast, and a 6 speed gemini box :) * The ultimate N/A - so VWM VSR, cams, remap, bit of porting, 6 branch, etc etc.. * Totally bog standard, immaculate, unmolested, factory fresh!
-
Can't blame you on wanting a TVR.. always had a soft spot for some of those! Something like a Saggaris or a T350C would do me nicely :) Also rather fond of the Cerbera :)
-
Alas no - mine was L539 GVH. Nevermind :( Not sure if you know about them but DG Autotech are based just up the road in Kidderminster.. Graham who runs the company is about as knowledgeable on Corrado's as you could possibly hope and they always have several in getting work done on them! Well worth a visit if you need a trusty VW specialist in your area :)
-
Welcome :) Got any more info on the car (e.g. registration plate!)? I sold a blackberry 2.0 16v some years back in the Birmingham area quite a few years back and have never heard / seen a peep of it since!
-
Haven't heard a single peep from Lee in.. well.. years!
-
It's not bad! Just when you look at what it costs, it becomes hard to comprehend. I spent a weekend driving one courtest of VW's Press Office - performance was excellent and it was comfortable and accomplished. But 30k FFS... I keep saying it but you're 6k away from a brand new Porsche Boxster!! The Scirocco was always meant to be an affordable sports coupe - pricing yourself that close to Porsche isn't, IMHO, affordable.
-
Great news, Jay :) Can't wait to see the car and it's progress over the coming months and (hopefully) years.
