I replaced my front engine mount with an original part when I first bought my car. (I didn't know about the 'Vibratec' at the time). You can change the front mount just by lifting and supporting the front of the engine with a trolly jack.

I fitted coilovers recently. To get an acurate measurement I had to measure from the ground, (90* through the centre of the wheels) to the top of the wheel arch. It leaves a nice even gap all round the 17" rims and more importantly just lightly skims the heighest of those speed bumps. So, to the top of the wheel arches at the back measures 605mm. The front arches measure 595mm. I have the 90mm spoiler on thc car and its 105mm from the ground. Setting up an even ride height was not as easy as I thought. Its not just a matter of going round each wheel and setting it to the required height. Every time you adjust one corner it affects the other three corners as well. It took me ages, going round taking of each wheel and making slight adjustments. I had to go round the car about five times, jacking up, taking wheel off, adjusting coilover, putting wheel back on, removing jack, pushing down to ensure the shock was seated properly only to find that the other heights had changed :x In sayiny that, now that the car is properly set-up any further changes can be made quite easily.

I've just had the two, 1990 16v Tornedo Red Corrado :D 1994 VR6 Silver Metalic Corrado :D I have to say I was quite partial to my 16v, it was a very good example. The red was a bitch to keep but looked cool. My VR6 cost me 8,500, against the 4000 for the 16v. imho the VR is NOT twice the car the 16v is. Just my opinion of course...

If you get what your looking for on .dxf format, I have access to a cnc router that can cut it for you. Let me know if you like...

I have a copy of the Bentley manual on CD ROM but I think they're just flat images. Maybe you could ask someone in a VW parts dept. Are you hoping to make a customised part?

Yeah, the Goodyear F1's won the most comprehesive tyre test of 2002. I read this in a magazine, I'll dig out the results if you like. From memory the test finishing order went something like this, Goodyear F1 Continental Pirrelli 7000 Michelen Pilots Bridgestone Avon ZZ Can't remember the exact name of each tyre. Interestingly the Continental tyre was a very close second. P.S. I don't have the F1's on my car. (yet :) )

Cheers Darren, I think I'll wait to see if the VR6 one's come on the market. Just watch this space then...

Side mouldings, When I removed mine I thought the car looked a bit lost. The problem I thought with the mouldings is that they were a bit to bulky. I know they have to be to protect the car however, some newer cars only have them for show and some, like the TT don't have any at all. My personal preference was to have the mouldings but nice slim, modern looking ones. I looked around a few scrap yards for some but could not find any long enough to fit the c. As I have use of a CNC router at work I decided to try and make my own. I ended up using polished aluminium which worked a treat. Nice and slim and matched perfectly with the TT rims. I will get some pictures soon (promise), and I can also show some other little things I've made for the c as well i.e. TT dead pedal etc.. Now, where can I get my hands on one of those digital cameras?

Anyone know where I can get my hands on one of these for my VR6? I can get the one for the G60 but, apparently there different. Can anybody help?

I done the dremel mod and it didn't work. To be honest, I did rush it a bit and it is tricky to do it right. I decided to take another little bit off the second time. This along with a slight bend on the wiper arm and Bosch blades (both having spoilers) done the trick :D Happy Days

Have you any idea where any of these cars are at Ant?

Don't be sorry m8, At least the whole thing is now explained in writing for the archive. I found it interesting although it'll probably take me the rest of the week to fully understand it all :)

Hello Roadhog, Welcome to the forum, there's enough G60 info in here to build a whole car! :)

Hi Jeremy, I never spotted the Campaign name in the memberlist. I also spelled Campaign wrong twice  in my previous post You're very welcome to the forum. :D

The campain was a 'special edition' introduced in '93 Only six ever made, and were offered to VW garage owners. All in Dusty Mauve with red leather interior Jeremy R. Bromley, editor of the sprinter magazine bought one last year If you use the 'Google' search engine, you can see some nice images of 'Campain's' on there. Good luck

I am seriously thinking about a supercharger for my VR6. I have been browsing through the various types and suppliers. Going by what I've seen on the web the z-engineering DIY kit seems to be the best option out there at the moment @ £2,500. Finding someone who can give first hand (un-biased) experience on this mod is very dificult indeed. Just today in the forum someone wrote about compression ratios etc. and suggested that, fitting the charger on it's own without further engine mods is not a good idea. Some questions.... Is the new z-engineering a maintenance free mod as the ad's suggest? (no oil in the charger) What type of charger is best suited to the 2.9 VR6? Will the engine life be affected or greatly reduced? Will the engine operate at a higher temp. with the charger fitted? Do I need to get a re-chip to get the best from the vharger? Will the prices ever come down? Are there any other important things to look out for before taking the plunge. Cheers, Dan

Probably the best decision to go with the coilovers I got a local garage to fit my old lowering springs & shocks, costing me £75. When I got my Koni coilovers I decided to try and fit them myself. Turned out to be easy enough (no special tools required), fitted them in about 3hrs and saved myself £75. NB. You'll need to get your four wheels re-aligned after you've fitted the fk's Hope all goes well....

Cheers, The reason I asked is because the guy who fitted my tyres said that, I could not go higher than 35mm profile tyres on 17'' rims. The 35mm profile make the alloys vunerable to pot holes :x and give a harsher ride. Ideally, I'd of prefered a 40mm profile and I thought rolling the arches would allow this. I don't really want to risk cracking the paint on the arches so, maybe I'll leave them alone. At least I now know what's involved. Thanks again....

Reading through my Performance VW magazines I occasionaly (can't spell) come accross featured cars with rolled arches. I can see the difference in the pictures but, can't get my head round how it's done. Questions Do I need a special tool to do this? Will it damage the paintwork? If the arches are rolled can I fit bigger rims? Any ideas...

You should also check that you can get lowering caps for the back of the c. (think I read that their for the front only) I'd say go for the coilovers, (the supersport seem to be gettin good rewiews) Don't rush your decision...

Just a little closer would be nice.

The scraping is not uncommon in VW's. It is caused by slight variances in the transmission cog's. I read in an article that VW have been aware of this problem for many years. It was also common in VW Transporters and old Audi 100's. Don't worry, (Don't get a new clutch fitted like I did as the scraping is still there every morning :x ). Dan

Sorry Adam, I'm afraid I can't help you there. haven't got a clue about those. At least youv'e still got the cd player!

If you are looking to polish your engine bay you should start with a 'detail sander'. ('Black and decker' make these, cost about £20,) I borrowed one from a M8. I sanded the manifold and intercooler (just what can be seen when you open the bonnet). As the intercooler and manifold have a rough texture, start with a rough grade of sandpaper and gradually work your way down to about 3200 wet 'n' dry. It took me about a week (an hour a night) to get the desired finish. The only good thing about doing this job is that it doesn't restrict you from using the car, if you neet to, just close the bonnet and drive away. :) About six months later I was in a hardware store and spotted some aluminium polish. :D It cost about £4.00 and brought a real shine to the parts (almost mirror like). Dan As regards maintaning the look, no problem. It lasts a long time. I just polish mine when I'm polishing the outside of the car. I would say, Go-for-it....
