Heater fan seized? Killing 1 bird with 2 stones..
SIMONG replied to bristolbaron's topic in Interior
does the fan spin/work when on forth speed?? get the fuse from maplins think it was 80p. i know that you can get the fans from pages/part co etc, not sure on price but dont think there a lot. one of my next jobs is the seal on the foilage tray. got that from VW the other week not got round to fittin it. -
good effort judith, lookin nice and shiney. but seeing that 6R4 reminded me of this i was lookin on sat. nice and all but for that kind of cash think i would be buyin some thing else. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/list.a ... mit=Search

yeah there a nice lookin car and all and failry quick if revved the ass off. but running the thing is a lot of effort and money. your ment to put oil in them every time you fill up as it has self lubricating tips and uses plenty of oil. and im told (by one of my mates who looked into buying one) that if you wont new brakes your lookin about 1k for all 4 corners. the whole front seat belt, back door mounted thing is a bit weird as well.

cheers for the update, glad to hear this is still going ahead. -
as winter draws closer thought id best order some of these to help towards not steaming up. so with these on and heater motor fixed im good to go. know what you mean about having to re-stick them though only had them on 2 days and they started to rattle and needed shoving up again.
-
finally got round to sortin this out by putting a different resister on. bloomin april when it went and just fixed it now, what a lazy git!
-
was it from venom? is this a bolt on part? if so give a go and see what you think.

after getting my hoses sorted and everything built back up my n/s ind and fog appear to not be working? was thinkin that i hadnt connected something so a circuit wasnt connected. so took the bumper off this morning to check everything and it all looks good! checked indicator and that looks ok to. just wondering what else it could be?? are they on there own relay or fuse? any one any ideas? Si.
-
just checked that pipe again. it actually say's SANCO on it. think i ive been had over.

well i have put the old sensors back in, went to vw and the guy who served gave me 3 seals and said "take em and try em there not on stock anyway" but a different guy the day before charged me £1.21 for 1 seal. new seal on and old sensors in. drove all the way home and temp never got over 100C, pretty much stayed just over 90C. so gonna send them other sensors back. as to the samco's, all the hoses went on pretty well. just that one which was physically to small!! we'll just wait and see how those guys from the group but get on and see if there hoses are ok?
-
yeah two diameters were right but the other just that bit smaller! and we had the front bumper off to make it a bit easier but loads of other stuff in the way. anyway, new seal in, coolant in, no leaks! think there was a bit of an airlock as the bottom hose wasnt getting hot, but there was warm air comin from the vents. few squizes of various pipes and a bit of a rev and it seemed to clear up and the bottom hose got hot. but still only warm air from the vents not hot air. ran up to temp and its going over 120C!!! but the fan does kick in atthis point but only for a short while. i replaced the blue and black sensors but from a motor factors and they had various different ones. so now im thinkin wrong sensors maybe. gonna get some new seals and try the old sensors and see if that makes a difference to the temp. drove all the way home and it stuck to 120C water and about 104C oil. oil wasnt really a concern but the water yes its never gone over 110C before?

well after gathered various bits and bobs to change my coolant hoses over to my samco's, i attempted to fit them on saturday with some help from my good friend Rob, aka undulattice. was making good head way until we came to fit the hose which goes on to the oil cooler/filter housing. what a complete and utter sh#t to get on! well i say on, after well over an hour of us both trying to fit it using various screwdrivers, pliers and pics ( :nono: ) i ended up giving up and putting the original back on. it was just to small to fit over the flanges, i dont see how if there meant to be "direct replacement"? at this piont starting to feel a bit done in as it was about 3:20pm and had no breakfast or diner. all pipe work on ready for coolant. one problem, the flange with the temp sensors in has a blank underneath which when getting my bits from VW, didnt supply a washer for it. only really one choice as it was sat afternoon i had to try and use the old one, i know i shouldnt but not much else i could do. 2lt of coolant in no probs, next 2lt and it starts to pizz out of the blank pipe. :brickwall: at this point im feelin pretty, sorry really suicidal as im at work on a sat about 20miles from home with no getting back? ended up leaving it there till monday and having to get my GF and boy to come and get me to take me home. feeling totally distraut. :( but todays another day and out of sight out of mind. when i get to to work tomoz and gonna kick it right between the lights! rant over!

ermmm think ive got it in my box file of rado stuff. will double check i the morning. cheers though.

right cool. so im lookin at about 5litres in total. 40% of that would be 2 litres. so 2/3 ratio mix. i went to a volkswagen motorfactors and got some G12 equivilant for £3.95 + vate per litre and VW is 8.95 + vat a litre.
-
yeah i mean 2litres of coolant to ??? litres of water mix
-
so gonna change the coolant and was just wondering if anyone could tell me the amount of coolant i need to put back in. got told that if completly draining the system i need 2 litres of coolant so how much water do i need to put in to the mix as well? forgive me if this is a dum ass question?
-

slightly disapointed...Got whooped by a Locust RS

the amount of time and omney your gonna spend on a conversion you could put into your engine and get relativly same "useable" power and being an 8v that bit more reliably. start trying to get big power all the time out of a 20vt and they tend to go pop! a G60 has got a lot more about it than a 20vt BUT thats only my opinion. as to "avin a do" with other cars it doesnt really bother now i have the G i just take it easy. there was a LADS (subaru) meet over in preston and i was just plodding along heading towards a dul carriage when not really paying to much attention and then next thing got this impreza up my ass. and another two behind him and a couple more few cars ahead. then remembered my bro talkin about this meet. got onto this dual carrage way and thought ahh screw it and tonked it. they certanally didnt pass me and didnt seem to make any head way on catchin me! and was think yeah screw you mr impreza! -
ive have been thinking about getting some bits flocked on the G recently but not the dash though as i think it would attract to much dust/grime and then also over time i recon it may start to change colour in the sun??? as to the door cards the way i would do it would be to buy a spare set get them flocked and then when some one wants a set. get them to send there old ones. once arrived send the pre flocked ones back. get the new ones flocked and ready for the next person who wants a set. this way you wont have to keep takin yours off! not trying to tout for business but i have a spare set for sale if you wanna do it this way? :D Si.
-
they wont work all the time, only when you press the brake pedal! :D i think they do butits not some thing i check for. try poppin out and havin a look?
-
the audi style lights? i thought about this before but with the intention of making the amount of light which comes from the headlight that bit greater as they are really really poo on the own. run them on the inside of the bottom of the headlight, i recon it could look alright if done properly and i dont think it would be a big job either. but TBH im pretty lazy so dont think i would get round to doing it. guessing this has not been done yet so for everyone to be so negative is a little harsh. once its been done and looks poo then slag it off! :)

if its gonna be around the £70 mark then i would be defo interested. i got myelf a spear spoiler that i was gonna get carbon wrapped but thats gonna be around £40 and look a bit poo underneath so would pay the extra for a proper spoiler. i would prefer an oem style one myself though wings would be great and dont sound dear but if you get them put them on great. months down the line someone bangs it and its blitzed then what back to the metal one. if its a small prang then yeah it could prob be filled and sprayed. keep us posted -
