fastest 0-60 in a G60 is with a launch from 2nd as someone mentioned. if the 16v gearing is the same as a G60 (can't make 60mph without going to 3rd gear... although you valvers do have a higher redline) then launch from second.
  2. turbo as you'll find out, getting a lot more out of the 16v isn't very easy, and sometimes not very rewarding. i'm trying to find a 2L block, and 1.8L head to make into a turbo project. ....or an audi 5 cylinder, haven't decided yet
  3. haha andi. i haven't done it personally, but i've heard of many people with high-torque G60s using a hockey puck and one cut in half bolted together as a motor mount. if you snap em like ant does, you probably don't care much if you run with a stiffer mount, and the puck trick holds up to the power. hockey pucks are tough shit! ..ever taken one off the face you brits?? heh :thumb right:
  4. use a hockey puck and a half! that's what we do over here in canada eh!! :D
  5. no doubt they are dangerous. and there is no doubt in my mind that there have been many riders killed due to absolutely no fault of their own. my stepfather used to ride.. has owned 5-6 bikes and has always told me stories about how you have to constantly be watching for other people. they will drive right into you like you're not there, turn out in front, etc. i've had some scary run-ins just on a bicycle at no more than 50km/h that were the fault of others. that said, i love bikes.. i'd love to ride one around. just seems a huge risk. the longer you ride the better your chances are of sssplat. not because of yourself, but because of other assholes, drunks.. etc

    I need some ideas...!

heh. turn it on. aim it at the windscreen and if the heater core is busted it should fog up. do it at night so its sort of cold out.
  7. mobile one red top (15w50) is good to something like 220C or something crazy.
  8. i'd give the carbon cannister a try. vw put it there because they were forced to for emissions and after 10 years how well do you really think a carbon filter is working anymore? you don't necessarily have to remove it either. the lines are long enough that you can drop it down inside the inner wing and free up that hole for your cold air feed. that's how mine was setup until last week when i pulled all the shit out. carbon cannister, isv, boost return...kaput.

    I need some ideas...!

does it fog up inside when its cold out? could have blown the heater core like i did. would explain losing fluid with nothing on the ground.
  10. many people use 15w50 M1 in G60s including me.
  11. there really isn't an *ideal* solution for corrados.. not that i've been able to find anyway. either its too much plumbing/dual pass, a u-bend, or air/water that also has its problems. i'm still trying to decide what i'm going to do about this, but in the meantime i'm trying make the stock IC as efficient as possible. darren's FM is definitely a nice setup tho.. just that u-bend that throws me off and i have a/c now too so the u-bend wouldn't work for me unless i ditch the a/c entirely.
  12. i wouldn't say dual pass is ideal... longer boost build and parasitic pressure loss. but then, the u-bend isn't 'ideal' either.
  13. well my driver's side seatbelt is jammed... it rolled up but now won't unroll, as if i were trying to pull out more slack while on the brakes. i've pulled the mechanism out of the car and with a little fiddling i still can't get it to let out the belt. anyone have this problem before? is there a way to fix it? i'm guessing i don't want to bugger around with this since it is probably the most important safety feature on the car... so i should just find one at the wreckers and replace it. what cars have compatible driver's side belt systems? i'm thinking any mk2 golf/jetta/passat but i'm just guessing. any help is much appreciated, took the day off work today to sort some nagging problems and i'd like to get this fixed today so i don't get all flustered when i drive past a cop (i get pulled over like crazy around here). thanks a lot.
  14. radar detectors are completely illegal to use and buy over here. have to go down to the states to get one.
  15. thats why i want it... sat navigation. my dad just got the high-level murano with all the options and i love that navigation. also figure you can watch dvds, burned videos from the net (tv shows, music vids, whatever), play playstation or whatever system you want to hook up, hook up a laptop to it and have a computer system at your disposal, internet if you have a cellphone... and last but not least, how cool would it be to have stand-alone management all controlled by a screen on the dash? a lot of neat stuff you can do with a $300 screen. how about hooking up a little camera on the front bumper, or rear bumper, or wherever and having it display on the screen. heh heh. ever notice you can't see out the back of a corrado that well (especially with the giant spoiler my car has on it)...a camera facing backwards with a fisheye lens displaying on the dash would craaazy.

    Interior Vs Engine

save that £500 until you have another £500 or more and stick a turbo on that valver. you'll notice that!!
  17. the guy i got my car from had all the pretty bits.. big rear spoiler, rims, oettinger grill, lowered, etc.. but from a performance standpoint the car was lacking. over the past 2 years i've (slowly) been upgrading the performance of the motor while trying to get away from the 'bling' look. when i get the car back from paint next spring, it will be standard looking, but lowered and shaved with wide rubber.. no door handles, no rain gutters, no rear wiper. i like the standard look, but smoothed out and low. to the average onlooker it won't look like anything but a stardard car from the factory... and most importantly it won't look like some garbage ride trying to rip off something out of fast and the furious. the rule i go with is 'function over form'. anything i've ever done to the car has been purely for performance and driveability. the way i look at nice cars is, they speak for themselves.. if you have to spend $$$ on making the car look better/faster/sportier then it wasn't a very nice car to begin with. ie: 95% of anything from japan/north america in the past 10 years.
  18. all fine and good rams... but that alpine unit was over $1500 last time i checked (canadian). you can get just a clarion screen for $300. i'd like to have the screen hide away in the head unit, but for the extra cash it really isn't worth it to me. if i do it (and i will once i have some spare cash... so it may be a while!! haha) i will mount it where the middle vents are. sure its illegal to have it on when you're driving, so shut it off. its illegal to drive while talking on a cellphone, or with a radar detector, or even drinking a bottle of water in some places. i wouldn't compromise the comfort and effectiveness of an expensive screen by putting it in an akward location just because you want to hide it from the cops.. if you're that worried don't have it on when you drive or just shut it off when you see pigs.
  19. can someone confirm this? i had a rear caliper replaced when i first got the car.. so the e-brake would work, to pass safety.. but the fuggin shop fit a used caliper that has a busted e-brake as well! :x i can get some mk3 or mk4 for cheaper than corrado rears.. which is better/easier to fit? mk3 or mk4?
  20. ive always thought the middle heater vents/stereo would be a good spot for a screen.. then move the deck down to where the ashtray/lighter are.
  21. been thinking about it... been very busy/poor fixing the rado up so i don't think i'll be able to make it this year. i will hopefully be going down next year with a rebuilt engine/tranny and new paint. hopefully. ..but not this year i'm afraid :? :x

    ekta..

ya.. how do you do what ant's talkin about? would be some help when tryin to cheap out on used parts...

    air fuel gauge

i just got my summit a/f in the mail.. i'll be doin the install this week when i put the new o2 sensor in. the o2 sensor is screwed into your bunghole. if you look down behind the engine on the supercharger side you will see a 4-wire connector down there, thats the wires for the o2 sensor.
  24. ya.. dead link now, what's all this then?
  25. if youre using a plastic hose you should tap it into the vac line going to the instrument cluster. if you run it to the inlet manifold the heat will make it crack. if you're using rubber hose the inlet manifold should be fine. if you take out your carbon cannister there is a spare connection for it on the inlet.
