  1. Aux Belt added to the list (thanks). I fitted new discs and pads in the summer so they are good. I'd planned on changing the water pump with the cam belt (seems foolish not to) so coolant will have to be drained / replaced.
  2. In the last 3 years i've managed to clock up no more than 400 miles so i'm determined to get the G60 back on the road in 2016. So the first job on the list is a service before the MOT. So i'm thinking - Oil + filter change - Brake fluid change - Cam belt + water pump - Charger timing belt Have i missed anything obvious?

    WTD drivers seat

I have a spare set of black covers (with the green / blue check) for a drivers seat. They are in good condition, no rips or tears. PM me if you want more info.
  4. Another point to consider is at MOT time the mileage will be recorded. Personally I'd have the mileage set to the original esp if the mileage on the new clocks is less than on the old. BTW - Is that a MK1 SR in your Avatar? One regret I have is selling my MK1 GTE.
  5. I purchased my G60 3 years ago and give or take a few hundred it's currently worth what I paid for it. Do we honestly think that Corrado's will go up in value?
  6. I'm probably going to sorn my S4 and MOT the G60 with a view to selling it. If anyone is interested let me know as it'll be back on the road in a few weeks time.
  7. It only small amount on the end of the arch. The sills are sound.
  8. That assumes I have a regular garage!
  9. Great idea. Found this http://www.colvilleroadmotcentre.co.uk/collect-and-return/ No good for me as i'm in Reading. Anyone know of a garage that offers this service?
  10. Yeah i know. I was hoping that it would sell without having to go through the aggravation of phoning my insurance company to get cover for a limited period. It was a right pain the last time i did it.
  11. Getting an MOT is a big issue for me. The G60 has never been my daily and I will have to insure it to drive it to and from the MOT station. To be honest i'm leaning towards breaking it at the moment as I need it gone which is a crying shame given there are very few left in this condition.
  12. Well I've posted it for sale and nothing. Not a single query. Is it the fact that it doesn't have an MOT? Or is the price too high? Strange as the market for other hot hatches from that era seems to very buoyant. I am starting to wonder if breaking the car is the right way to go...
  13. Corrado G60 1992 finished in Satin Silver This sale represents a very unique opportunity. My G60 is standard. Totally unmodified. It pretty much as it rolled out of the VW production line in 1992. No chip, no pulley it?s not even been lowered or fitted with different wipers / headlight loom. If you are looking for a project / show car with a small amount of work this is it. I have owned my G60 since Sept 2012. Since then I?ve driven it no more than a 400 hundred miles. Before buying it I must have looked at 6 or 7 G60?s. All had been modified in one way or another. Most very badly. I have come to the realization that as much as I love the car I?m just not going to drive it any time soon. Kids / job / house and my other car all push it to the back of the queue. The car has no MOT (expired in April). History It?s had 7 former keepers but don?t let that put you off as each has looked after the car. The mileage is currently 84732. This won?t change as the car is not being driven. I have all of the old MOT?s that combined with the service history back up the low mileage. Engine / Service History?where to begin. The car has an A4 folder documenting one of the most comprehensive service histories that I have seen with a car. The supercharger was replaced in 2002 at a mileage of 60,621 with a genuine new VW unit. Not a recon! That service alone amounted to ?2359 Hollis Motors (VW) 18/1/93 10,302 miles 11/1/94 15,621 miles 2/2/95 19,697 miles 7/3/96 23,500 miles 22/4/97 27,518 miles 20/4/98 31,060 miles 29/4/99 33,931 miles 22/4/2000 43,744 miles Scotts of Stockwell (VW) 17/4/01 51,447 miles Hollis Motors (VW) 28/3/02 57,879 miles 17/9/02 60,621 miles 14/4/03 64,180 miles 19/3/04 68,761 miles Victoria Volkswagen 25/5/05 70,457 Independents 1/8/06 72,661 miles Modern & Classic Autos 9/8/07 74,287 miles Modern & Classic Autos 14/4/11 80,527 miles Units 5 Motor care Despite not being driven I have started and run the engine up to temp once or twice a month. I have uploaded a video of a cold start. Interior Probably the best bit. Both the drivers and passenger seats are in superb condition. Bolsters are firm and the foam is in great condition (no dandruff on the car after a drive)!. Rear seats are the same. First aid kit and warning triangle are both present. The rear seat / parcel shelf have not faded from exposure to the sun. The car is fitted with a VW immobilizer. Electrics Tilt and slide sunroof both tilts and slides, now that?s a got to be first. I?ve taken photos in all positions. The rear spoiler raises and lowers with the switch. It went up and down the last time I had it on the road. Both electric windows work. MFA works. The stereo is missing. It was faulty anyway and I fully intended to replace it with something a bit more modern. Bakes & Suspension The wheels are in good condition. No major curbing or marks. The BBS centre caps are present. The front discs and pads are new along with the tyres (Uniroyal Rainsports). The only miles the tyres have done is to / from the MOT station last year. The car has ABS and as far as I am aware is fully working. The dash light illuminates / extinguishes as it should. Like all old cars there are a few issues - I started it today and ran it up to temp but the fan did not kick in. - There are a few dents and marks. I have taken detailed photos of all. - The rear bumper has been repainted and suffers from micro blisters. - The end of each sill has rust. Worst on the driver?s side. - Knock sensor needs replacing (the rubber insulation on the cable has started to come away). 14. I have owned my G60 for coming up to 4 years and in that time i've managed around 400 miles. I've now come to the realization that i'm not going to start driving it any time soon and that the sensible thing to do would be to sell. It's a 92 on a J-Plate. Satin Silver with 84K miles. The interior is Black Cloth and in superb condition but the real feature is the car is totally stock. No mods. It's as it rolled out of the factory (build wise). Despite having 7 former keepers it's got a history as long as your arm including replacement supercharger (New not reconditioned). I have no idea how to value the car as the prices seem to be all over the shop and most G60's are modified. The bumpers have been re-sprayed in the past, the rear has some micro blisters and the front a couple of scrapes. The wings have been painted in the past along with the bonnet (i'm guessing to remove stone chips). I can't see any signs of paint on the body / doors and the colour match is very good. There are a couple of minor dents (roof + sides). I had a paintless dent repair guy out to look at another car and he took a look and thought he could take most out. The ends of the sills by the rear wheels have a small amount of corrosion. It's SORN and the MOT ran out in April. I've not got around to MOT'ing it as the car is not insured and it's a pain insuring it for a week. Any help /comments appreciated.
  15. I have a totally standard G60 in Satin Silver that may be up for sale soon. The only deviation from stock is the speakers in the front doors. I've managed 200 ish miles in 3 years and with a V8 S4 to feed I doubt it will see use any time soon.

    Which one?

Even the last of the VR6's are knocking on for 20 years old. Running costs (bar fuel) will really about how the car has been looked after by it's previous owners. Finding a good 16v or G60 now will be difficult. They are out there but sheer numbers will make the VR a much better bet. If running costs are your primary concern then you are probably better off looking at something else.
  17. The real problem is the relative hardness of the stud extractor vs the drill bit + it is very unlikely to have snapped cleanly. You may be able to grind it out but given the risk i'd be on the phone to engineering companies in the area.
  18. I would not try to drill it out if a extractor has been snapped off in the stud. They are hard as nails and a drill bit is unlikely to touch it. Worse still if you end up drilling down the side of the extractor bit you could, very quickly, end up with a scrap head. Unless you can get the remains of the stud extractor out i'd take it along to an engineering company.
  19. Anthony,

Guide price - I have no idea. I'm undecided at the moment if I want to sell or keep.

Condition wise it's probably better I post some photos to photobucket over the weekend so you can take a look (unless you are local and can pop over to take a look). After all one man's mint is the another man's average.

The main appeal for me when I bought the car was it is standard. It's never been chavved up, pulley'd or even lowered. It even had the original stereo in it (but the head unit has been removed).

Body wise there are a few very minor dents. I had a discussing with a paint-less dent company (while working on another car I own) and he felt all would come out if he could access the back of the panel).

The sunroof and spoiler all work.

The BBS wheels are in good condition with 4 brand new uniroyal rain sports (driven less than 30 miles). New discs and pads up front (again done less than 30 miles) since the last MOT.

    I'm between Reading and Maidenhead.

    Regards,

    Mark

  20. I have a satin silver G60 that I am thinking about selling. J-Plate. 84K. Massive history. Absolutely standard. New VW charger fitted at 60K miles (£1500). Black Interior (mint). Currently SORN. PM me if interested.
  21. Well for me this should be the what have I done to my Corrado over the last 365 days thread. So far this year i've managed to drive my G60 a staggering 24 miles. This makes a grand total of 224 miles in 3 years. Maybe I need to re-consider if I should keep it?
  22. I agree with a lot of comments so far and dealer mark up is always going to be a contentious issue but I also feel the Corrado is a little undervalued. I've watched plenty of G60's struggle to sell for over £4K. Try and find a decent 20v UR quattro for under £20K...

  24. Are all those AMG Mercedes a complete handful? I was recently following an AMG when the driver for no obvious reason gave it full throttle out of a roundabout then spent the next 200 yards swinging from left to right over both lanes. Lucky for him that no-one else was on the road at the same time.
  25. The first question is how bad is your car? Does it really justify a full respray? Is there any corrosion / lot of dents that will need to be sorted? Are you willing to do any prep work? My initial feeling is £1K is just not enough for a full re-spray in or around London. If I was you i'd save my money and put it towards a better car if it really is that bad.
