Tried white grease on the metal arm, but to no avail unfortunately so I'll try your idea James, when you get the pics up  Cheers

i guess you need to have a look in this month's 'retrocar' mag (i think thats what it's called  ) and have a look at the yellow audi 50 with a g40 conversion done to it, its cool as 8) Audi 50 eh? Used to see loads of those over in Greece years ago, and in yellow too, same as my old polo! I'll see if I can find the mag you mean, cheers

Makes me wish I'd kept my my old 895cc Mk I Polo and stuck a G40 engine in it!! I'm sure that would have surprised a few people but it would have been *fairly entertaining* to say the least!

That appears to be a bit a of a beasty, with a good spec and mileage too, current price of £1500 looks like quite a bargain. :) i've heard different comments about the Mk II Jetta (GTIs) handling, some say it's better than the Mk II Golf GTI, and you can certainly pick them up very cheaply now so it could make for an interesting conversion.... 8)

I've done about 3k since I bought mine last November and it's used about half a litre of oil in that time, my mileage is 98k now so I guess that's bout ok judging by this thread and others I've read. Driving just over 1k and finding it empty is a bit too much,I rekon it should have settled down by now, it's not as if your engine has done mega miles.

Hmmm thats useful for incoming traffic..... -
I take it that it's a 1.8 16v then ! :-P (preparing to be shot down!)

Ok thanks I'll give that a go. Actually bought some white lithium grease today and gave the sunroof mechanism a good coating and it seems to tilt and slide smoother and quieter after a little testing so hope it works for the boot lock too! :)

That flip paint only looks good on TVRs (cant remember which one) IMHO  Oh also just noticed the number plate, only a few numbers away from my old MkII 16v (H771 UGK as featured in the book 'VW Golf by Laurence Meredith' if anyone has it!) 8) :)

Is it true that this car was originally a VR6 Storm? (if it's the same one I'm thinking of)
-
He he that's good I like it but I've one quick question - what's that hanging off your handbrake lever?!
-
I'd be surpised if the whole shell of the C is galvanised, I've got more tiny spots of rust on mine than I had on my old car, an '88 Audi which had NO rust anywhere as it was fully galvanised
-
I think the paint on your Storm is pearlescent. Or does it make no difference if you use a metallic cutting compound on it?
-
OOOOO So much to do..... So little time... . :D

Go on Henny, you'll love it. You know it makes sense. :)

Holy sh!tfuc*k! Did you see what the trailer that crashed into this guy was carrying?? He's one very lucky fella.

This is getting tiring...... Saw a green *badged* Storm but I'm sure it had five spoke speedlines..? M112 SNE spotted at traffic lights on Whitecross Road in Hereford at 12.45pm, I walked past you staring thru your window! Looked like you were reading a map, car looked mint BTW 8)

Nice one Mike, now you're just having a laugh  ! You're only 15 miles away and yet I'm still waiting to spot at least one of them......

Hi Jenks congrats! :) Youngest owner on here goes to someone from the US who is 16 or 17 I believe!

Found a couple of small strange rust spots on my C earlier today :? As you open the drivers door you'll notice the big rubber seal that goes around the main bodywork doorframe. Just above the seal, but underneath the roof lip, there are 2 small protrusions about 2 inches or so apart. Well both of mine are rusting on both sides, anyone know what the purpose of these are? Also what the paint code is for Mystic Blue touch up stick?
