Have you checked the battery is fully charged and the terminals are secure?

For the oil temp, check the green wire leading to the sensor above the oil filter housing.

If your 95 VR6 is OBD1 it should bolt straight on. If it's OBD2 I believe you'll need a different throttle body mounting and there's a chance it won't have provision for all the required sensors. You can check which OBD yours is by lifting the gearstick surround and looking at the diagnostic port. 2 small connectors is OBD1, a single large connector is OBD2. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly to give you a proper answer!

From the first post: I was chatting with one of the chaps at TPS this week when I was picking up a new sump gasket and he said the older fibre (cork?) gasket has been obsoleted in favour of the rubber type. I hope this is the case as mine should have been on the older type :) Also, it was £33 with VAT.

Reading all this I'm getting a little concerned about how simple I found it to get at the seals on mine. Come to think of it I only recall seeing one hose attached... This may explain my oil temps being on the high side.

The regulator should be pretty easy to swap out after you've removed the alternator. They're generally cheap enough just to replace and should be readily available from auto electricians or motor factors. Also, what condition is your battery in? Not in the Corrado, but I've had idle hunting issues before when the battery was on its last legs.

For your model year it will be an OBD1 ECU, so you will need a 2x2 adapter to connect up the code reader. The socket is found beneath the plastic gearstick surround - you can gently prise it off with a blade or screwdriver.

Yep, I have aircon and had my oil cooler off at the weekend. It was a pretty easy job with the spoiler off, except for the light shower of black gunk.

Thanks for that Hasan. Mine looks like a bit of a bodge job on the part of the dealer as the rack extends up through the foliage filter so there's a hole in it. Also it never used to open part way - only closed or fully open. I'm pretty sure the garage that did the aircon work just never reconnected it properly so I'll pass on this info and they'll sort it when it's in next week.

Hi all, I've recently had some work done to the aircon system in my VR6 (dealer-fitted Diavia) and now the servo controlling the cold air inlet flap under the bonnet doesn't operate when the fan is switched on. It's going back for rectification, but I'm trying to clarify how it should work. My thinking is that the flap should be open when the fan is on unless the aircon is also switched on (for recirculation). Can anyone confirm or deny this? Cheers, Neil

Golf MkIII controls are fairly common at autojumbles (VW jumbles anyway!) and scrappies for around £5, and all of the parts are interchangeable with Corrado controls.

The contact on the rotor of my fan speed dial has snapped off and I need either a replacement dial or complete control unit. I've not had any luck with my wanted ad, so I thought it would be a good idea to visit the breakers' yards. What I'd love to know is which vehicles were fitted with the dial-style controls? Is it all late model Corrados, just VR6s or other VWs like Golfs and Passats of the same era? Cheers, Neil.
