  1. Gaz, I have a new genuine 701 919 369 D sender here - can confirm they are indeed black.
  2. Have a read of this thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?4948-VAG-COM-scanning-amp-help If you're doing it yourself you'll need a 16 pin OBD2 cable and optionally a 2x2 adapter depending on the connector beneath the gearstick surround. I think the point of doing the basic settings is to calibrate the throttle position sensor, which is probably quite important if messing with the dashpot :)
  3. Where are you located? There might be someone nearby with the cable and software who can help you. Otherwise the cable is about £15 and the software about £65 to register to allow you to use the basic settings function.
  4. A split crankcase breather hose is what caused this problem on mine. Patched it with self-amalgamating tape until I got a new one.
  5. At least with new plugs you can check their condition after a couple of hundred miles and any fouling will be quite evident. Are multiple-electrode plugs recommended for KR engines? I always thought a good single-electrode plug was preferable in most cases.
  6. I read a bit ago about someone finding a break or nick in the insulation of a wire which had allowed the conductor inside to corrode and introduced a voltage drop. Something to look out for when tracing the wire, I reckon.
  7. I've been going for years and plan to attend this year, camping on the Saturday night in my a/c T25 so the air-cooled bias works in my favour when something breaks en route ;) I think I spotted the same Corrado last year, Tony - on some grass by the traders' car park!
  8. Argh, I was hoping to have until Stanford Hall to get mine back on the road but this shortens the deadline by a month! Will certainly try to be done in time :)
  9. Didn't realise silver was rare in a Corrado. Mine must be like hen's teeth, satin silver with a winter pack!
  10. The parts dept at my local Ford dealer was a bit useless. I went armed with all the details but he couldn't find most of the parts on the system - in fact the only thing he did locate was the aux belt which I'm sure was around £100!
  11. Mine also arrived yesterday - looks top notch, thanks again Dave!
  12. One relay will operate the dipped beam and the other the full beam, but as you say they're identical. Relays are usually quite reliable so first it's worth checking the push-on connectors are in good order and not badly corroded, replacing any that look suspect. Usually you'd want a single pole normally open (SPNO) but it looks like Maplin only do that in a 24V version at the minute and you want the 12V one. Maplin code N00AW (30A SPDT Auto 12Vdc) will do, but make sure you wire up the bulbs to pin 87 and not 87a or your lights will be on permanently (although you'd soon realise what you'd done ;) ) Clas Ohlson in town does them too, code 36-3908 here: http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/Product.aspx?id=164596812
  13. Hah, you'd think so but that didn't stop TPS supplying me a 4-cyl dizzy cap when I'd told them it was for a VR6...
  14. OEF776 isn't a VAG part number - the set of HT leads is 357998031. Black Dubpower leads are only £39 delivered though, and highly recommended by many.
  15. Check it with the engine off and on so you can get an idea of how well the alternator's doing. 12.5V or more when off and 13.5-14.5V running is decent.
  16. From what I understand, the water temp gauge is designed to hover around the middle of the range during normal operation (engine warmed up) but will start to read closer to the oil temp as per the MFA when colder or warmer. Are you sure the fans really are kicking in at stages 1 and 2 and not just coming on with a roar at stage 3 when the engine is getting close to being dangerously hot? This is the problem I faced with mine and am currently replacing the temp senders.
  17. It was good to meet you at the show, Kip - still can't believe you recognised us straight away after remembering the silver VR with the headlamp washers leaving Harewood House :)

    Hi there,

    Welcome! Where are you located?
  19. Yikes, £150? I got a 1/2" drive one from Clas Ohlson for £20 or so and it does the trick - feels very solid. In fact, here it is: http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/Product.aspx?id=163676961 Seems to have gone up in price a bit though.

http://injectortune.co.uk/ sells refurbed injectors. No idea of price, but perhaps worth a try.

    Current plans / job list

With insurance and MOT due in November, I decided to move my satin silver VR6 to the back garden and SORN it for a few weeks while I get a few things sorted at the weekends. Important stuff to do include (but by no means limited to!): * New rear beam bushes. Got some Powerflex ones months ago that I've not got round to fitting. I was debating whether to use genuine instead, but thought I may as well give the Powerflex a try. Will also be fitting new discs and bearings * Locate and fix the water leak, most likely around the fresh air inlet * Replace temp senders in the hope fan stages 1 and 2 will start to kick in * Sort the front left caliper after a previous owner sheared the bleed screw (grr) * Sort the brake master cylinder after I sheared the bleed screw (grr again) * Replace noisy aux belt tensioner * Service stuff: new plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor, etc So far the rear axle is almost off but the brake line unions have suffered in the process and they will have to be replaced. Good time to get some new flexi-hoses too. My best friends right now are a heat gun and Plusgas.
  22. Leeds crew unite! I'm near J3 of the M621 in Holbeck.
