I told them the valve stems seals had gone, they were supposed to change everything. I am assuming they change the valve guides aswell as any sensible person would do. The head was skimmed also so they where supposed to do the lot. They had a look inside and said it looked fine. The symptoms are exactly the same as before Dont get oiling on the spark plugs. They tend to be in good shape. Dont like to check them really as I dont have the proper tool to get the spark leads off and I dont fancy breaking them!! Dont really know anywhere that will do a compression test. Will have to ask around. I suppose thats my next step really. cheers timo

:( :( :( Had my vr head rebuilt just over a month ago to cure the smoking after overrun problem and smoking problem on cold starts (with some revving obviously  ). Put it done to valve stems seals and was confirmed by several of you guys. Thing is, its still fecking doing it. Finally got around to changing the oil from mobil 1 0w40  to what it should be GTX 10w40 (or similar) hoping this would cure the problem but no. I have noticed it doesn't use anything as much oil as it did before but still it should be sorted. Not sure what to do, ring the garage up and give them hassle, put up with it. Is it something else (dont think so). Its just annoying the sh&t out of me, cost a small fortune and its the same. cheers timo

NNNNNNoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I nearly bought them the other day but thought I would just wait another week or so. I dont believe it!! (victor style) timo

checked all the fuses. Might try disconnecting the battery to reset the ECU. Not done it in a while anyway and its worth a shot. I just dont understand how it had power a few weeks ago and now it doesn't. Bloody annoying if nothing else. But, at least the run-on circuit does work which I think is definitely more important. I always thought that the aux pump running whilst the engine was started seemed a bit wasteful and pointless. There could be something I'm missing of course!! cheers timo

Come on guys..... someone must be able to help me. Another thing I tried was to bridge some of the connections on the yellow temp sensor (as it says in bentley) to test the coolant run-on module. The fan came on and 12volts was readable from the aux coolant pump connector!! Weird!!! Really confused now. Gonna change the pump anyway tomorrow and then worry about the power issue. ta timo

Finally got around to getting a new one from the dealers yesturday and this morning I though i'll just check to see it work without plumbing it in. (I know it a magnetic thingy and probably wont do much with being properly connected into the coolant system) But anyway I gave it a shot. Turned on the ignition and nothing...... Mmmmm..... bugger....whats up now!!! When I realised the old one wasn't working I did the obvious and checked the power. Sure enough it was getting a healthy 12v and thought 'great' its definitely the pump. Today when I checked the power after the new pump failed to show any sign of life, I get no power reading!!  Gutted. Not sure whats happen. Can it have blown a fuse or something. There's nothing else that dont work. I have tested the positve and -ve lead to see which one isn't doing the business. The -ve seems fine but cant get any reading from the +ve so I'm guessing there is a break in that wire somewhere. Help me please!!1 Rather pi$$ed off now cheers timo

Last time I was in I had just got my CCGB card and thought to myself.... "i'll have some more discount from these suckers now!!" When I asked for some discount they said, "We already give you discount because you buy so much stuff!!"   He then went on to say "you'll have built a completely new car shortly!!"  That really cheered me up actually and now when I go and buy stuff from them the computer system automatically gives me discount and they know my name without me telling them and.............. they recognise me over the phone!!!! Its a bad state of affairs when it gets to that!! nevermind, its only money  timo -

water coming out of it aint good!!!! Replacing the seal will only help if you had an oil leak. Have a look inside you coolant expansion tank and tell me what you see..... Any oil floating in it?? I'm 99% sure you'll need a new cooler. Can you tell exactly where the water is coming out?? timo -

That my friend is the oil cooler. They have a hapit of going bye bye. You'll need a new one of them along with an oil change and probably a coolant change also as it is highly likely they have been contaminated by each other. Goods new is.... the oil cooler aint that expensive. If you do have a lot of spare cash I would invest in a Mocal Oil Cooler. You can get details on http://www.thinkauto.com ta timo -
a second hand set went for £75 odd on ebay the other day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tempted myself although I wouldn't fit them till I got a set on Koni TA's but at that price its worth getting them now, even if they have to sit around for a while gathering dust! ta timo

Yeah, mostly niggly things. But they all cost money. General wear and tear is the cause of most of it. These cars are fairly getting on now. Stuff like suspension (bushes, shocks, top mounts, bump stops etc.....), usually service parts, cam belts etc. Not any major common faults. Not that I know of anyway (with regards to a g60) . The rest of the engine is solid as a rock. 200bhp. 8) get it there!! Do the deed. Dying to get a better job + more money to get a g60 aswell. They sound amazing, never been in one yet though :( Have a video of inside 'andycouk' g60 giving it some serious gun. Tis well cool. The video convinced me that I need one. sorry about my random rants 8) timo

supercharger, supercharger, supercharger................... Make sure its been looked after properly. Emm.... what else. Not really a g60 expert. timo 8)

I was just replying about the fuel cos that was the excuse you were using not to buy a VR. ta timo
-
Dude!! I come from Lockerbie. A whole 12 miles away from you. Propably see you around some time. The bird is from Dumfries so I'm there rather alot. ta timo
-
fuel consumption between g60 and vr6 is only small. Driving appropriately the vr can match 16v and g60 easily. A tuned g60 will also chew some serious fuel!!! 8)

Noticed the other some coolant leakage coming from either the auxiliary coolant pump itself or the pipe/s that go into it. Thought to myself, oh bugger, that's only the 4th coolant leak I've had in just over a year. Story so far:- 1st thermostat housing 2nd Coolant tube (actually part of it broke of when I replaced oil cooler seals) 3rd Oil Cooler pipe burst and no this. Keep telling myself that I should be due a nice long spell of no problems with my VR but it never happens. Its just money, money, money.......... I may aswell get married to my car and be done with it!! :( Anyway, back on track. So, I was having a wee look at it this morning and I turned the ignition on (not starting the engine) to see if the coolant would leak out when the electric pump was going. Bingo, pump aint working. I'm guessing pump has gone bye bye bursting internals seals or something along those kinda lines. Hence its full of water in the electrics, hence it dont work no more. I'm I on the right lines here?? How much for a new pump?? Any other ideas?? OH, and will I do it any harm running around without it working?? cheers timo

Has it been a bit dodgy leading up to the point of complete failure?? Even with power failure (which is what happened to me) you can still open the door with the key. Obviously the rest of the doors dont open. Got any more symptons or info? I take it that the lock mechanism does turn when you try to lock/unlock? cheers timo

managed to get both done and bleed the entire system. Brakes feel rather nice now!! Still could be better though. cheers for the help guys simon
-
managed to do it. well one side anyway. Went out after posting the thread turned them like i was doing before and it moved in!!!!!! Maybe there is some pressure in the system which you have to wait until its gone. anyway just waiting for a we while before attacking the other side cheers timo

Just spent about two hours trying to push, turn, twist...... the piston back into the caliper. It would f***ing move the b****** ing thing. I've read you need to turn but it doesn't seem to go back or forwards tried using a g-clamp as well, still dont move a millimetre which way should i be turning it? bentley says clockwise, another thread says anticlockwise???? aarrrggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help, i've got a hang over and getting really pissed off cheers simon

   "four main bolts" holy sh$t. Didn't realise that there was only four!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "flexing apart" ahhhhhhhhhh!!! Thank god I started to take it easy. Yeh, I wasn't too chuffed myself when I found it. Seems fine now. I tightened it as hard as I could, dont have a torque wrench and its rather hard to get into with the tools. Not much room. Maybe i'll have another go at it to make sure and keep an eye on it. Thanks for enlightening mt Kev. I wan't going to bother ringing up the garage but now I think I just might. Not impressed at all!! simon
