Normally it was associated with carbon build up on valves, but it sounds like an electrical fault here. how long does it run on for?

Hi Richard and welcome. I've seen your name in the Yahoogroups so i assumed you'd already be on this forum. Nice spec list, how long have you had the car for?

Right my car will be going in to get that dent on the wing sorted out aswell as a respray and another door for the passenger side. Getting a Reiger grille at the same time. My other question is i've never got a straight answer when i ask people how much to do the A6 door handle conversion and who can do this perhaps cos its part of the whole cost. The garage i've taken it to wont carry out this Mod but i'd take it to someone who can fit the plate in and filler it, i'll do the linkage and the bodyshop can spray it. i'm going to get a chin spoiler i like the golf 2 lower front spoiler advertised by Raceland, would this be the same dimensions as a corrado chin spoiler? For the bodyshop guys here, is the difference in the quality of paint used by garages, my neighbour got his 1993 golf (door) sprayed in 1995 by VW and the later paint has faded badly! so what paint company or brands shall i get the guy to use when he sprays it? The car is in mettalic black and if i get a replacement door i'd like to get metallic black if the A6 conversion dont go through! if i get anotheer colour how visible would the previous colour be and where would it be visible?

I think the price is too high for this car, John William is selling his magazine featured corrado 1.8 16v in this months golf magazine. its priced around 4K but alot of money has been spent on it and its totally worth it.

my car runs around 110 degrees on the water temp guage, the fan cuts in and out the coolant strength was checked and was very good enough, what else can i check or do to make the car run cooler. Secondly there is a slight jerk when i change gear and take foot off the throttle, are there any common problems with mounts, which ones should be checked? thanks in advance

well i bought from a guy who was breaking a corrado and thought instantly thats mine and i think looks better with black than any other colour! so the only thing now is find where that campaign is and rescue the dash :D i dont know why on earth VW made them ugly brown dashboards they should've all been black. Rory: some old guy reversed into me in a car park so that adds to the passenger door lock damage, soon to be sorted out.

yeah it is a campaign interior.....i do want to change to the later style dash and indicator stalks and maybe get the dash retrimmed like the campaign item. Dont like the storm badge personally might change it over to original karmaan one. Also got my eyes on keskin KT5 alloys for the car. So work is in progress!

My windows roll up about an inch, when the car is locked i assume the trigger for the central locking is around 3 seconds.

OK, for those guys who want to undertake this task, when i fitted mine initially, the reverse could be selected without pushing the the gearstick down, this was because the groove cut in the stick is smaller than required, making the stick a little bit down hence reverse could be selected. What i did was use a bench grinder to enlarge the groove towards the bottom of the stick and this cured the problem as it is now pushed up abit more.

Theres only one tensioner for the alternator (generator for americans) the bolt for this has a 13mm nut size, and threads either side of the nut, the alternator mounts onto the longer part of the bolt, and the tensioner bolts onto the shorter side held with a 13mm nut, hope this helps

ok the seats are relatively easy to take out but it is a mucky job especially if the bolt at the bottom is greased, it gets onto the seats and everywhere. My tip is to wrap cling film on the seats or cover them with cloth and masking tape, make sure none of the surface can be seen otherwise you will be there cleaning it off for ages. Hope this is of use to you guys.
