will an american window control unit work the same in the uk car...just thought id check.. oh and any more info about that possible switch fault? would it stop both switches working?
-
it doesnt work from either switch though and im sure both didnt break at the same time...or is it all on the same loom so if ones broke it knocks the other out?

ha, what Kev failed to mention was the 2 dremel blades he snapped and the 'metal fatigue' method he them employed with his pliers!! its ok though, it all looks fine now and no knocking even on the standard mount.

Passenger window not working... took the pass door apart tonight to have a look. bit confused now. only 2 wires going to the motor. using a screwdriver with a bulb in it to check the curent i tested both wires with ignition on. black live striped not press the up button black went out striped went live press the button down nothing on either wire. im not really sure what should happen but it sounds like either the window control unit or the wiring to me??? an advice? ta

Had my schrick fitted yesterday and although i understood MPG should not be changed i was sittin gin the car today alarmed at how the numbers were rolling backwards while sitting in traffic.. is this normal? does the engine just need to adjust now? or should i just get used to barely getting 20mpg round town now :(

nothing for the kind of money you want to spend unfortunately... rechip is £400 ish, decent exhaust is £300 ish, vgi is a grand ish.... may aswell spend the £100 on getting a second hand airbox and k&n panel filter for when you get fed up of the 'all noise but no go' carbonio filter  -
i wouldnt do that to be honest. you risk damaging the piston and its a bit of a 'jack of all trades' way of doing it to be honest! use a big g clamp and use the old pad in the caliper to distribute the weight, again...to avoid damaging the piston. not sure about the bleed nipple but it sounds like it may work...although if it snaps your stuffed! I just used a big shringe to suck the excess fluid out of the resevoir before pressing the pistons back in...then toped up with what was in the shringe and binned the rest.
-
thanks...although i still hear noises :x no, all looks ok but i'll get the mount done asap! and the gasket is holding up by the looks of things. going down to ford today to get that brake breather valve thingey...although good job with the superglue!! its all still together
-
just make sure you have a big enough g clamp to fit around the caliper to push the piston back in...also when your pushing the piston back in make sure the brake fluid doesnt overflow in the engine bay.. its easy..couple of hours max even for a complete novice!

almost a whole year since this thread was active, but the search facility has resurected it!! that and the fact mine broke dring the schrick fitting and is now superglued together... just thought i'd bring it back so other newer members can see it and not have to pay out £60 odd for the whole lot.
