  1. awesome! cant belive i havnt seen this thread before, im doing something similar but without doing the interior, yours looks amazing btw, well done!
  2. this is what happend to the previous owner of my mk3 vr6 daily, the drive shaft bolts had come loose and sheered off, he thought he blew the gearbox :) i only got it for £250.00 because of that, cost me £5.00 to fix :) it was a fairly easy fix, even getting the sheered studs out was easy,
  3. yea good job for saveing it, alot of other people have broken corrados for alot less , "the clutch has gone , has a few scratchs, its deffinatley for breaking" something along those lines, such a waste imo.. edit: just seen the updated pics, looking good! and to think someone else would of broken that up!!
  4. yea same here, it looked in very good condition aswell, dont remember hearing that bit about being a year older, did remember them saying it had done more mileage then what the clocks were showing, how would they work that out?
  5. seems like the wireing is going to be the biggest problem, i have my 2.8 BDE engine right now, and iv sorted a person to do the loom, although thats almost 2months away because he cant get on to it sooner :( plan is , get immo defeated and immisions switched off on the ecu , also useing the DBW pedal, anybody made a hybrid loom for this conversion themselfs? right now im just generaly cleaning it up! replaced water pump and cam cover gasket, oil filler seal.
  6. good stuff! bit of welding needed there, have you used a mig welder before?
  7. haha cheers aide, just wish i had the motivation to learn and understand wireing diagrams so i could do this loom myself :(
  8. aint updated for awhile, been driveing it every other weekend and iv prety much got it out of my system! so i think its time to go 24v! its just something i got to do! was planning on getting this done and dusted by next week but iv found out this week that the guy doing my loom cant do it untill june!! as hes got 15 other looms to do before mine :( lol minor set back! found another guy that can do it end of april! gives me a chance to get everything cleaned up without rushing around i guess. postman delivered this on his little bicycle :) its the BDE with an mot a few months back with just over 100k miles. going to partly polish the cam cover where its visible, also painting inlet manifold same as me car {LC9Z} Started makeing an engine crane chain thingy mo bob, 2ft scaffold pole,x2 wishbone bolts, abit of chain, Just tapping a thread, job done! well happy with it :) still need to finish off degreasing the whole thing, and fit new water pump + 12v water/thermo houseings already fitted new cam cover gasket and i got new flywheel bolts+clutch plate bolts for when we put the vr box on :) cant blady wait!!!! luckily i havent made a start stripping my corrado down , so it seems like the hardest part of going 24v is actualy organiseing the wireing ! lucky for me i brought another vr corrado loom for the conversion so my corrado can still be driven otherwise it would be in bits right now waiting on someone to make the loom up!! so anyone else thinking about doing this, get your loom made first and in your hands before you start anything else!
  9. iv done this, its time consumeing, but its deffinalty worth doing DIY if you have the time and space and arent one of them people that give up on the first hurdle, take a look at my thread or forum search windscreen replacment, and have a butchers, your need a windscreen wire saw and a windscreen knife blade will help!, then to re fit is a little trickier, your need window adjustment wedges, and basicly you dry fit the screen with the trims fitted and align it in the correct place and butt the wedges up against the screen then you remove the screen and apply a bead of adhesive around the complete edge and then install up aginst your wedges {so its in the correct postion!} you just have to press the screen down to the correct hieght and then make sure it doesnt sink below that hieght when the glue is setting, also your windscreen side plastic trims may not come out in one peice! as mine were glued in and had to be broken, but there still available from vw , any questions p.m me or post them up here with pics to help anyone else that doesnt want to pay £500 + for some guy to do it for you..
  10. nice looking c, imo your next step would be to clean that area up to bare metal with a dremel to see what has actualy happend and how far the damage is , worst case scenario is :- you clean it up so no rust is present then gash it back together with seam sealer and underseal, atleast that prevents any further damage and its water tight!! and cost effective! so not realy worst case after all. obviously may need welding but untill you unearth it you wont know the extent of the damage. word of caution about the bump strips, if you try to remove them it may split the paint so becareful, or like my friends C it has had a previous paint repair and the painters masked the bump strips up so theres a paint line! my c has had them removed and it looks alot better for it imo...
  11. those pics are just generic photos of random milltek exhausts so dont take any notice of the photo, im prety certain milltek only make one exhaust for the corrado, just click the link i posted for awesome gti's site and get the part number, its just a typo mistake because as far as im aware the vr6 wasnt around pre 92, for the record that exhaust from awesome is a perfect fit on my vr and at the time it was the best £400.00 i ever spent on my car, completly changed how it sounded and felt alot smoother, also the throttle response tightened up loads, so it felt like driveing a completley different car, you wont regret it bud
  12. my recomendation would be buy a milltek catback system from awesome and then get it booked in at your nearest garage job done!, milltek sounds amazing! and its not to loud or chavvy either, http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=11756&xSec=87 { its just an exhaust , any garage will be able to fit it to a good standard, its nothing new}
  13. sorry i havent read all the comments, so you have fitted new calipers? and bled the calipers but still spongy? i had that when i fitted mk4 golf rear calipers,{i didnt drain down the system neither did i let it draw in air} i needed to use them so that the pads can wear square with the disc, after useing my car for awhile my brakes are now fine, work and feel as they should, but thats just my take on my brakes, and may or may not be related to what problems you may or may not have....
  14. anyone know if the vr6 water pump can be used with 24v 2.8 ? edit- a friends just notified me that on eurocarparts the corrado vr6 water pump and the mk4 2.8 v6 water pump both have the same part number, so yes the vr6 water pump can be used :)
  15. loveing the work on the qaurter windows and sunroof , but the arch imo looks horrid its to boxy or mechano like , but thats just my thought on it,
  16. i used normal basecoat/clearcoat on my cam cover and engine cover and its held up fine, if i was to do the engine cover again i would rough it all up back to rough plastic and use a plastic filler {theres loads out there} and give the whole thing a skim of filler keeping 5mm or so from the edges of VR6 DOHC just to smooth out the rough orange peel texture of the plastic, it will make a huge differance especialy if you want a gloss finish, if going satin/matt i wouldnt bother,
  17. just updated, thanks for the idea of adding a pic, should help alot..
  18. thanks stuey, still need one guys, as stuey hasnt got the section i need,
  19. as per title , im after the section that plugs into the fusebox , please pm me as i might not see this.. cheers. stole this photo of a complete vr6 engine wireing loom, notice how its in 2 sections, the bottom left section is on the engine {fuel rail etc} and connects to the other section via the plug in the engine bay, {on right side of engine} i need the other section with the red, yellow ,green and white plugs {to fusebox} and the ecu connection etc etc, {that whole section} thanks..
  20. iv had this before, turns out there was something blocking the passage in the caliper, remove caliper and make sure you got fluid flowing nicely out of the brake hose so you know your free up to that point, remove bleed nipple from caliper and give them both a blast with compressed air to try and clear any blockages..
  21. plumbers stores have pipe freeze spray, which would do the exact same thing, to OP good luck!! i once had the front bolt sheer on me, wasnt nice! luckily a forum memeber pointed me in the right direction, basicly had to drill the bolt down through the wishbone so i could remove it, then drill and tapp a new thread, alot easier said then done!! took me 6hours on my back ! with a hangover! wasnt nice! but got it done properly! only 2 pics i have,,
  22. That was the problem with mine, the previous owner said it allways had an idle problem but couldnt find out what, how ever it was fine when i picked it up, i only found out about it when i was washing my bonnet, the way the maf cable is routed it would allow water to run down into the plug itself, the symptoms were if it was just damp it would miss under load and idle abit irraticaly, if the plug was absolutley flooded it would idle up and down from 600rpm to 1500rpm then the battery light would come on then cut out and was un driveable!! quick blow out and a squirt of wd-40 and its back to normal..
  23. well the other day i thought its best i get some insurance cover as it was prety much driveable, i only took out 1months cover as i still have insurance cover on my mk3 vr6 daily, i declared my mods {well some of them ;) } and surprisingly they didnt realy care! £30 for a months cover, happy days
  24. cool, the price is very appealing! shame its bodywork related issues, theres never cheap/quick fix's for them as we all know
