i brought a pc (porter cable) from the states , its ace you can read em about on these sites, megs call it a g100 http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/ http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/index.php http://autopia.org/forum/index.php? the general word is the battery one ok for wax on wax off, but no man enough to remove any defects like swirls etc...btw the megs one is a rebranded one, you can get for about £30

anyone have good expericance with clifford dual prox sensors? i originaly had it on the tunnel under the handbrake, then moved it under the sunroof winder panel in hopes of better coverage, thinking that the sensor must provide a cone shape "zone" and it would be better pointing down than up :? anyway..with it in the roof liner i find it too sensitive around the mirrors and no where else :x so , any suggestions for location...i was thinking behind the dash on the bulkhead facing into the car or on the tunnel right near the back seat

just make sure you turn it over by hand a good few turns and recheck the marks -

if you really think theres shavings gone through the oil ways , then a strip down is the only sure to know, if you dont want to go that far id remove the sump/oil pan and clean that and the oil pick up, hopefully most of the bits will be there -

danr its the crank bolt that shears off...replace with DX bolt and washer veedubbed, the 8v g60 tensioner wheels are £20 i think from gsf....or you can prise the rubber seal out and grease em

if you think the starter sounds a bit flat..try getting some fatter earth and power leads for the batt/alt/starter...made a nice differance to mine probably worth adding a extra earth here n there too as what the factory is only just enough

cracked coolant flanges are common! its where the coolant pipe goes to the head..theres a black plastic flange thats held on with 2 bolts, new plastic ones are £10 ish (dont forget the o ring) or some older mk2 golfs has nice metal ones if you want to look in scrapy
-
£200 ish for a webber kit, the vw are unreliable
-
id say allow £500+ so that you can get g-werks to overhaul the charger and maybe the odd tickle here n there...it'l prob need the vac pipes checking and stuf like a blue temp sender etc then it should be just as good as any other vw
-
ecu relay?
-
heres a thread about it http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_post ... KW=carbon+

why dont you refill it , and run it up keeping an eye on whats what you should be able to get a better idea of whats wrong check if top and bottom hoses get hot, see i the fan comes on when it should etc...just keep an eye on the temp and shut it off before it gets really hot then report back with what you found...any luck its a fan switch/stat/rad cap
-
it could be...a thermostat, fan switch, water filler cap, headgasket etc# how have you checed the head gasket to see if its fine?
-
fit a new vag pump and stat while your in there are you sure the pump is gone? theres lots of things that can cause overheating
-
