You can actually do refurbishment really easily DIY, there is a company called dynamix http://www.dynamixdyes.com/ That provide colour matched dye for all brands of car. Just clean all of the leather first with something like autoglym leath cleaner, then let it dry and sponge (dab) the dye on sparingly in layers, giving 4 hours between each. It dries to a Matt finish and you can use it but leave the dye for a week to properly cure before applying a finisher and buffing (if you want some shine) I did my last BMW and it looked perfect at the end and only cost about £25 and a few hours work. I've just bought a small (£10) dye and done my steering wheel and it looks like new now, no blobs in the finish etc

I have a set of inverse Red filters from DDI, £20 if you want them. They make the MFA screens look exactly like they do in the mk4 golf.

Good advice guys, this forum is a gem! I'll check the switch and fuse first, any ideas on what the input output is like on the switch? I imagine it has power from dash lights and then either power directly to the switch heading off to the elements for heating, or it heads off to trigger a relay. Just wondering how complex the system is as it could also be a relay if there is one? Cheers Ron

Sage advice!

Thanks a lot, looks like the power is not even getting as far as the switch, which probably makes finding the problem easier.....I hope :)

Hi, Only just realised this weekend that my rear window defrost isn't working, the car is garaged all the time since I bought it in October. I'm going to start digging around with the multimeter but what would really he is knowing how it should behave. Currently, when I press the switch on the dash, nothing happens.....no change of colour or confirmation that it is on like in modern cars. Should the switch do anything when pressed? Cheers Ron

Hi James, I also need a loom and so if you do start making them, let me know. Ron

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Tonight I have epoxy'ed the crumbling screw holes in the steering wheel cowling, looking very solid now ;) -
Removing upper steering column cowl, need help?

Haha, awesome. I'm working with just the interior courtesy light.....that area is all in shadow! -
Trying to remove the upper part of the cowl tonight so I can epoxy the screw holes so it all fits together properly again. I can't get the thing off due to the steer column adjustment lever. I have given the lever a little pull to see if it will come off easy but not shifting.....how do I get it off?

Yep, mounts have been done so it feels spot on now.....better than my wife's 61 reg Fabia!

Been collecting parts for a while now since I bought in October, car is good but has a lot of little niggles and had been Pimped by a previous owner. Mookie (who I bought it from) had made a start and de-gangsta-ing it but still lots to do. I am going for the OEM plus look. Today I remove the horrible aluminium hand break lever, mk2 golf gear on and rather nice but not Original momo steering wheel. I managed to get a good wheel and gearnob from Anton and a handbrake lever from ebay. I also did a few extra jobs while at it: Cleaned the wheel and knob with autoglym leather cleaner and gave then two doses of leather cream, looking and feeling great. While I was there I cleaned and greased the gear selector at the stick and gearbox end. Gears now move like a new car, really worthwhile job I also removed the steering column cowl and followed David Worts write up on the cleaning and greasing of the indicator and wiper stalks. They now feel much less creaky and smoother. Realise the screw on the cowl were all missing as the point they screw into have perished, will use some epoxy to make new and re-tap the holes. Removed the headlamp switch for cleaning and greasing tonight. Went for a drive....car feels like a better place to be without all that bling! -

Man, that is some work but at least you are staring with a blank canvas and so you'll be able to build the car up spot on. You see many guys on here buy a "minter" and then end up stripping it, powder coating everything and then putting all back together again! You can do that as you go. Colour is an odd one, I have a blackberry car and the exterior of yours is not BB but some of you interior pics of the scuttle tray and behind the dash look like BB. Your car may have been repainted in Burgundy pearl?

Took mine for a 100 mile drive up to Berwick today, great weather.....car working well, big smile on my face :)

Sorted this today, cleaned and greased the linkages at the gearbox end and at the selector mech. Feels like a new car now!

Sounds good mate, if you have time then it would be good to come down and have a look, if you can put me in touch with them. I need the bonnet doing and might get the rear bumper done too. -
Agreed on this one, never had any strange Corrado related treatment. However driving any kind of fast car will attract kids wanting a race, to be honest the corrado is getting on a bit now for facing against modern hot hatches and winning but it is the enjoyment of the very direct feel it has with the road. Would still hold its own in the twistys though. My fave moment is when someone tries it on when I'm driving my 59 reg, stage 2 tuned Octavia VRS TSI which is making about 270bhp.......they nearly always loose that one unless it is an M3, M5 or current gen Scooby.

Probably just do the bonnet, as its the only bad bit of the body......although when I bought it off Mookie he said that was the n,y bit and then once all the wax had worn off, I realised the rear bumper has had a knock too, he even did a thread on here......anyway, I was annoyed (along with the DDI dials being on the fritz too) Just going to do th bonnet for now as rear bumper looks fine when waxed. Cool, we just need 10 to get that rate. I can get them as individuals but they are £19 + £4.95 postage, if I buy 10 he'll discount and send the lot over in a box for free. Then I just need the postage to get them to you guys. I'll get a better picture which might get other stoked up as it looks great, perfect fit.

Does anyone else feel like rebooting their life?
Hofmiester replied to Portent's topic in Off-topic Chat
You'll be alright, just power through! Although never do that when parking....my wife once "powered through" when she touched another car when parking......£0000s in damage ;) -
I had one once, it was good......

Call that a build thread? THIS is a build thread...
Hofmiester replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
The guy basically built a new car from scratch using the old car as a template.....some serious sheet metal skills there. The problem for me with that thread is thta after ALL that work, I wouldn't be able to bring myself to take it outside just in case something bad happened :(
