  1. Spinning the wheels will not give you a good 0-60 time. It's a meaningless figure nayway, since when do you stop at 60?? Go to a drag strip and lets see your 60' time, I've managed a 2.034sec, which is the best result I've ever seen for ANY FWD car at York Dragway.
  2. Too late! I just paid them this morning, bugger.
  3. The phone transfer hotline number is 01895 455774 HTH
  4. It's usually dependant on servicing really. It's almost impossible to see without removing the upper manifold, cam cover and end plate, and it's a gearbox and flywheel off job to change it. Just listen for rattling or 'cyclic' noises at the gearbox end of the engine.
  5. Yup, bang on. they are finished at 80K I've got a 2.9 with 50K on it, tensioner blade is slightly scored but OK. my old one allegedly have done 70K, when it died a year (to the day!) later, I stripped it, and the plastic tensioner lining was in the sump! it'd been running on the metal for weeks, making a right racket (I thought it was tappets!!). It'd done more like 150K...... I got a 110K 2.9 too, and the top of the plastic, above the rivets has snapped off, I noticed it when I did the 268 cams, so that'll be getting repalced before I sell it.
  6. Well it's £200 in parts alone to do the chains, and that's withotu doing the lcutch whilst you're in there, and not including labour either. VR6's tend to be noisy anyway, so practice your teeth sucking, whincing, hat tilting and head shaking for when you're looking at the engine. Buying cars is a game, you've got to learn the rules before you can play.....but no one says you have to play fairly. :D
  7. yeah, CGTI forum is awful now, sahem, it used to be great. Go buy a Corrado, you know you want to. If I (mr mk2 golf) can give up mk2 golfs I'm sure you can. go drive a corrado, you'll be hooked.

    1/4 Mile times

Well, not a corrado, but a corrado engined mk2 golf. 13.75 @ 98mph. which is as far as I know, the quickest normally aspirated VR6 in the country.
  9. At that sort of mileage it'll be due a new timing chain tensioner. if it hasn't been done, start complaining that the chains are noisy and knock money off. If they say it has been done, you want receipts for proof.
  10. You should see the kit I've got for mine.......75BHP to 250BHP..... Forged pistons anyone?
  11. GT3 seats, only £2000 a peice!!! me want.
  12. I love that mk4, it's perfect.
  13. Hello there, what you doing on here?
  14. Why will it? they aren't special becasue they are rare. they are rare because they were sh1te!! All corrado's should have a VR6, for me, it's easier to build one than buy one.
  15. Not exaclty the weather for it, But I'll give it a go tonight. If not, it'll be a moody B&Q floodlit car park job!
  16. Mine got a Tracker on it, I'll be going through this myself shortly. I have all the paperwork and stuff so I'll let you know how I go about it
  17. yeah, my typo, sorry, read it again. :?
  18. Golf syncro floor and fuel tank. Vr6 syncro rear axle, prop, gearbox etc.
  19. Nope, I don't need it anyway, I've already got VR6 Syncro running gear sat waiting to go in! :D
  20. Don't take any notice of the speedo. Mine was reading 146mph, but when I got pulled the copper said I was only doing 132.35mph. No lie, I just got my licence back yesterday! (and treated myself to a Corrado on the same day too).
  21. Yep, that's me. That car is now a bare shell, needs a new home...or cutting up!
  22. Cheers. I've actually been after one for 7 years, but they were always out of my price range, so I had to make do with a Corrado engined, dashed, braked, seated mk2 Golf. Finally I saw the light and gave up on it and went for a Corrado. It's totally standard, but handles better than a modified Golf! fantastic cars to drive, well impressed. :D
